Atalon produces wines from the broader Napa Valley appellation, i.e., 1998 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley Mountain Estates (350 cases) (Winemaker Thomas Peffer).

1999 Special Selection, Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley (100% Cabernet).  Cooperage: aged for 17 months in 93% new French oak barrels. (Release May 2002) ($136).

2000 Caymus Vineyards, Zinfandel, Napa Valley.  Very limited & available only at the winery.

1999 Collins Vnyd., Zinfandel, Russian River Valley ($26).  Notes: 60% French oak + 40% Hungarian oak barrell aged. Unfiltered & unfined. 2,750 cases estate grown, produced & bottled.

1998 Old Vines, Zinfandel, Russian River Valley ($22).  Notes: 12 mos. 100% French oak barrell aged. Unfiltered & unfined. 300 cases crushed, produced & stored at the Russian Hill Estate Winery at Slusser Road in Sonoma County.

Although terribly popular, this wine falls short because it is 100% new American oak & never racked. Lacks any depth or complexity. A shame to waste such excellent, intense fruit.
