Scenes like this are perfect examples of the cool and quiet sections this kind of topography can offer us for this western-themed area. Large overhangs such as these can help to hide any surrounding structures, and can also allow parts of the water-coaster ride to travel overhead without letting the guests below know a thing about it (except for the screams of course). These scenes are also from the beautiful areas of Oak Canyon in Sedona Arizona. For more info, visit the Story Aids section of our site. |

Here's another photo of the Sedona area. You can see the many of the mountains in the area resemble a similar topography of Bryce Canyon, which is the canyon that Big Thunder Mountain is based on. So you can see that the Oak Creek canyon fits rather well in the real world, and would therefore |

be an excellent candidate for our ride (given it's close proximity to Big Thunder. One of the interesting things about the area of Sedona is that it was one of the first Gold mines in the Arizona area. In addition to the topography of Sedona, it's location in Arizona makes for a plausible destination for treasure smugglers coming up through the Mexican border.
