Welcome to Imaginary Championship Wrestling, the next generation in fantasy wrestling. ICW was created by former fantasy wrestling managers, for both the wrestling fan and the RPG/role-playing fan. Create your wrestler in every aspect and guide him from his rookie debut to his retirement match, and possibly right into the exclusive Hall of Fame. Battle through grudge matches, form alliances, swerve your enemies . . . in ICW, the direction you take is never limited. Will your wrestler become the greatest champion of all time? Will you go down in history as the greatest manager of champions the world has ever seen? There is but one way to discover your potential. Sign the contract, bring your wrestlers to ICW, step into the ring with the best, and shoot for the stars. ICW is the place where only the greatest wrestlers you can ever imagine come to fight.

Imaginary Championship Wrestling not only strives to be the premier game, we also care and respect our managers, as we know that you are the ones who make it all possible for us to reach our goal. For that, we thank you by protecting your rights against personal attacks. Any manager who openly attacks or threatens another managers family or self-being will be warned promptly that should it continue, said manager will be permanently banned from ICW. This pertains to message boards, bulletins, or chat rooms having anything to do with this game. We are aware that there are some things that we may not be able to control, so we implore you to be mature with each other as the only fighting within this game should remain as character versus character. Remember at all times that you are competing with others just like yourself, from all across the globe, so respect is the number one rule. Treat others as you would want to be treated.

This handbook is designed to teach you all of the different aspects of ICW which combine to make it most enjoyable for you. Read through it thoroughly before you begin playing this game.

Hold Values

When you register to join ICW, you are asked to choose 22 holds from the lists provided. Each month, ICW gives each hold a value that determines how effective it is during that round of play. Each value setting will be distributed to 2 holds per month. No hold will have the same value for 2 consecutive periods. Holds are charted 12 months in advance and are only in the hands of the owner, so there is never going to be a possibility of any manager cheating.

Each month, the Disqualification and Count Out values will remain the same. This is the only exception to the rule stated above. If at any time your wrestler is losing by 31 points, he will be disqualified. Likewise, if your wrestler is ever losing by 28 points, he will be counted out. No championship will ever change hands by disqualification or count out unless the match is sanctioned as a No Disqualification, No Count Out, Hardcore, or a match that falls under those rules. Each promotion will now have its own set of hold values. This will reduce the chance of multiple wrestlers drawing for the same title.

In ICW, you may have more than one match against the same opponent or have a 2-Out-Of-3-Falls match, with each match having a different result, for up to but not more than 3 matches. In addition to the main hold values, we will post 2 alternate sets of hold values each month. Keep in mind that you are to send in only 1 strategy per wrestler per month, and we will always use the main set of hold values for the first initial matches. This rule will usually only come into play during Championship matches, special challenge matches, and the event in which 2 wrestlers or tag-teams face off against each other more than once that month.

See 'Wrestling Holds' for more information.

Promotions

All wrestlers who enter ICW will be placed in a promotion. A promotion is a wrestling company. Each promotion will have its own Commissioner, its own venue, and its own champions (with the exception of World, US, World Cruiserweight, etc.). You are allowed to come and go from any promotion (with few exceptions), giving you more freedom for your angles and wrestlers. It does cost you $1 to transfer. This can be paid through the mail, or it can be taken out of your wrestler's cash bonus account.

Every promotion has something different . . . something that sets it aside from others.

Please mark your match sheet with the name of your promotion. It helps us make sure you always get what you pay for. Each promotion has its own set of hold values that are used to determine the strength and effect of each hold. The list of hold values used for your promotion will be published on the back (or within the last few pages) of your promotion bulletin each cycle, along with the two alternate lists of hold values that are used for 2nd and 3rd fall in matches or when 2 opponents face each other more than once in a month.

Regions

Regions are areas that promotions group themselves together within. These regions will sometimes have 15-20 promotions within them. You are free to travel from region to region and make your mark in each promotion within. There is no extra cost to transfer, as these costs are covered in the section above.

Matches

All managers sign their own matches unless otherwise stated. Exceptions may be certain contests or tournaments held by ICW. You may pick your partners and opponents from anyone on the roster list for your promotion. You are able to compete in one-on-one, two-on-two, three-on-three or handicap (two-on-one, three-on-one or three-on-two) matches. You are also allowed to sign specialty matches such as Steel Cage, Hardcore, First Blood, or many other types of matches. The type of special match signed may have a bearing on the outcome of the match, as it may eliminate the possibility of being counted out or disqualified. To make a match 'special', simply state what kind of match you wish to participate in.

Occasionally we will choose select matches to be detailed in a full write-up, so while you are encouraged to go crazy, please keep your ideas somewhat realistic if you want your matches to stand the possibility of being written up.

How Matches Are Won

Match results are initially decided by the highest strategy totals. However, there are exceptions to the rule.

If at any time during the match, a wrestler or team is successful for 5 consecutive holds and is ahead on points at that point in the match, that wrestler or team will win the match by that amount of points that they are ahead and the 5th move will be the hold or move that the match is won with.

If a wrestler or team is successful for 5 consecutive holds and is behind on points, the match will end in a double-disqualification. If there is no advantage in points at that time, the wrestler or team that is successful for 5 consecutive holds will win by a 0 (zero) point margin.

If at any point in the match, you are losing by 31 points, you will be disqualified. Likewise if you are losing by 28 points, you will be counted out.

The final exception is if on the 22nd hold, you are 3 points ahead, the match decision will be reversed and the match will end in a disqualification or count out. This is referred to as a result of "Bored Fans" or an "Attentive Referee.

Regardless of the outcome of the match, it will be determined the same way up to that point. The match begins with the first hold for each wrestler or the highest hold valued for each team. If one wrestler begins the match with a 12 point hold and his opponent begins with a 9 point hold, the first wrestler will gain a 3 point advantage. If on the second hold, the first wrestler has a hold with a 7 point value and the second wrestler presents a hold with a 9 point value, the first wrestler will then have a 1 point advantage. This sequence will continue until the end of the match.

Won/Loss Records

Records for singles wrestlers and tag-teams are listed as wins-losses-draws. Singles matches count only for an individual wrestlers records. Handicap matches do not count toward your record. Tag-Team rankings are also listed. However over time, so teams may be dropped from the rankings due to "one time partnerships", a feud between the two wrestlers, or if a wrestler leaves or is released from the promotion.

Wrestlers or teams who do not hold titles are ranked according to the difference between the total number of wins and the total number of losses. For example, a wrestler or team that has a record of 10-1 will be ranked above a wrestler or team that has a record of 50-42-1.

If a wrestler or team does not sign a match (it must not be a match that was signed against your wrestler) for 3 months will be listed as inactive. That wrestler or team will not be eligible for a championship title match until the cycle after they become active again. The only written exception to this rule is if an inactive individual wrestler wins a Battle Royal upon his return.

Promotion Newsletters

Each month, managers will receive a Promotion Newsletter. The newsletter will contain a list of all champions for that promotion, as well as the rest of the wrestlers who compete there. In the newsletter, you will also find all of the matches that took place during that month, a General Manager's Report, artwork portraying some of the wrestlers, comments from wrestlers and managers, as well as the hold values and deadline for that month. Also included will be a monthly report showcasing the top talent from around ICW. There will be other items of interest included in the newsletters. However, the contents of that may vary from promotion to promotion.

Promotion Champions, upon losing their title and assuming they don't capture another singles championship that cycle, will receive the #1 contender spot in the rankings. TV Champions, following the same guidelines, will be granted the #2 contender spot unless the Promotion Champion retains his title or captures another title, in which case the TV Champion would be granted the #1 contenders' spot. Territorial Champions will follow the same guidelines and will be granted contender spots #3-#10 unless the Promotion and/or TV Champions retain or capture another singles title.

These same guidelines also pertain to the tag-team champions after they have lost their titles.

Cash Earnings

Imagicash is imaginary money paid out to your wrestler for his or her performance per match. Every victory pays out $1000 in Imagicash to the winning wrestler or wrestlers. If you defeat a wrestler or a tag-team that is ranked higher than your wrestler, your wrestler will also receive a $100 bonus. If your wrestler loses a match, he will receive a 'losers pay' of $200. A draw or tie pays $750 per wrestler.

Imagicash comes into play in many ways, so it does not merely lay dormant and add up. There are times when these earnings can be used to enter contests and tournaments, as well as bounties. You may also be allowed to spend those earnings during auction blocks in which you may win the services of a wrestler who already has an impressive record or may already be in ICW and may have been fired by or may have fired his or her manager. Other opportunities may arise, as well.

Other earnings will be actual cash. These earnings are paid to champions only, unless there is a contest held that awards a cash prize. These are paid out as a percentage of the gate totals for each promotion, or for the entire ICW. These earnings can be used the same way as the Imagicash earnings, as well as payment for matches and most contest entries. These earnings can also be cashed out every month, or you may choose to have ICW hold it in an account so you can cash out in larger sums each time. There is a $3 minimum cash out policy.

Disqualifications and Count Outs

Wrestlers who are disqualified or counted out will be fined for their unsportsmanlike conduct. If your wrestler is disqualified, he or she will be fined $500. If he or she is counted out during a match, the fine will be $250. If the wrestler has less than that amount in total earnings, their cash will simply be dropped to $0. Your wrestler's earnings cannot fall below $0.

Battle Royal

A Battle Royal will be held each month in every promotion. The winner of the battle royal will receive $5,000 and an automatic shot against the Promotion champion the following month. If there is a vacant title that the wrestler is eligible to win, he will be awarded that belt the month of the Battle Royal. It is definitely in the best interest for everyone to enter the promotional battle royal every month.

Battle Royal strategy totals are added by using the 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 14th, 18th and 20th holds from your wrestler's strategy. The wrestler who has the highest total will win the battle royal. The wrestler with the 2nd highest total will be eliminated last, down to the wrestler with the lowest strategy being eliminated 1st. Who eliminates who is random.

Booking Sheets

Every month you will receive a Booking Sheet with your newsletter. This form is provided for the purpose of listing your matches, entering your promotions battle royal, making changes to your strategy or making changes to your wrestlers name. You are not limited to the space provided on the Booking Sheet, should you run out of room. Likewise if your Booking Sheet is destroyed or lost, simply use a sheet of paper to write down your necessary information.

Comments

Here is one of the ways where ICW becomes more interactive as you can write promos, comments and sneak attacks for your wrestler or manager into your promotions newsletter. If comments, promos and sneak attacks sent in by multiple managers blend well together, we may find ways to adjoin them, but we will never change anything that you send in for this section. Please keep these somewhat believable. While you are given the freedom to kill your own wrestler off, you will not be allowed to kill an opponents wrestler or manager. Personal comments and attacks that are not character-based will not be allowed either.

ICW Report

Name/Strategy Changes

You may change your wrestlers name or strategy as often as you want. Name changes cost $1 per wrestler, each time you change his or her name. Errors are fixed for free. Strategy changes are free.

Stables

What is a stable? A stable is made up of wrestlers and manager who form an alliance inside ICW, as one group. Stables can be easily identified by placing a stable name or a set of initials before your wrestlers name. You may join a stable through the comments section, through outside correspondence between managers, or by forming a stable yourself. Likewise, you may leave a stable at any time. Being in a stable is not mandatory and it does not give you an advantage over your opponents in a match. It is simply for creating a dominating force within ICW.

General Managers

ICW appoints one manager per promotion to become its General Manager. It is his or her job to create promotion popularity and stimulate league activity. The General Manager must be impartial, but may push any fair angles that he or she chooses to. The General Manager cannot end an angle that he or she is not directly involved in. In addition to this, it is the responsibility of each General Manager to promote every pay-per-view within the promotion, as well as any contests. Each month, the General Manager is to write a report on the promotions happenings and highlights, create 10 dream matches, create and assign a list of contenders to his or her own created inner-promotional titles should he or she choose to create any, and promote ICW outside of the newsletter in order to bring in fresh talent. He may also award a total of $50,000 in Imagicash to one or more wrestlers (up to 3) for outstanding accomplishments, contest winnings, etc. The wrestlers who are awarded Imagicash must be determined by promotional or ICW-wide accomplishments, and not by random drawings or favoritism. Imagicash may also be awarded for outstanding comments written on behalf of wrestlers, if the General Manager chooses to do so. The General Manager may only award his or her own wrestlers Imagicash if he or she wins a tournament or contest, if a title is retained for a period of time that is outstanding, or if the wrestler appears in the ICW Report. General Managers must make a note in their report as to which wrestlers receive what amount if Imagicash.

When ICW announces that a new General Manager is needed for a promotion, we will send an application to all managers and will decide upon a suitable replacement according to a sample report that must be submitted and must be based on the promotion at hand. We will then choose the General Managers based on the quality and fairness of all applications submitted.

Promotion Deadlines

Promotion deadlines will be found on both the envelope that your newsletter arrives in, as well as in the newsletter itself, and will likely be found on the final page. If your envelope arrives after the matches are processed and the champions are decided, your information will be held until the following month. This may cause you to lose a good strategy total, but you will be allowed to change it and any other information before the next deadline.

Free Matches

If you are awarded free matches, you will receive a voucher for those matches. You must then include that voucher with your matches the following month. You must send in a minimum of $2 with those matches. The $2 must not include a Battle Royal entry. If you are unable to be active the following month, you must contact us before the deadline and let us know, or your voucher will expire.

Auction Blocks

ICW will occasionally hold auctions for the services and contracts of wrestlers with records and earnings included. Bids may be made with Imagicash or real cash, and this will be stated for each wrestler that is to be auctioned off. These wrestlers may be pre-created by ICW, or they may be abandoned or donated wrestlers that have already competed in ICW. Winning managers may then place the wrestler in any promotion they wish to. The number of wrestlers auctioned off each time may vary. Just as ICW awards cash bonuses to champions, ICW also uses a percentage of 50% of all auction bids to help pay for contest prizes.

ICW Hall Of Fame

Any wrestler or manager may choose to retire from ICW with hopes of entering our Hall of Fame. Hall of Fame inductees will be chosen according to a certain itinerary.

A wrestler may be eligible for the Hall of Fame according to longevity and accomplishments. This is not based necessarily on the number of wins or earnings. The manager of any such wrestler who enters the Hall of Fame will be awarded a large engraved crystalized glass plaque and a full color and fully detailed tribute in both the ICW Report and the ICW website.

A manager may also enter the ICW Hall of Fame, upon their retirement. Inductees will be chosen according to longevity, the number of wrestlers owned by that manager who are in the Hall of Fame, and In-Game participation. Upon induction, managers will be awarded a large engraved crystalized glass plaque, a full color tribute in the ICW Report and on the ICW website, as well as a check for $1,000.

Those who choose a Cheat hold will have to do so wisely, because there will be an "Attentive Referee" value, and if their final strategy hold pus their Cheat hold equals the value, they are automatically Disqualified.

Likewise, the face wrestler will also have to choose wisely, as he or she may not get the quite the same reaction from the fans as usual. This is referred to as a "Bored Fans" value, and will automatically give the opponent the advantage, thus giving him the win. Each cycle, the value of the "Attentive Referee" and the "Bored Fans" will change. These holds are valued from 1 to 5 points. An Impact hold (An extreme move as strong as a finisher) will also be chosen. Impact holds are valued from 1 to 5 points.
