FarmHand - for Pocket PC users

1. Configure Activesync to keep track of data

Once you have run the
SETUP.EXE.installation program it should have established the FarmHand folder and created desktop icons and so on. All that remains is to ensure that the ActiveSync procedure is set up to keep the system synchronised. Do this by opening a session and run the Options menu and select FarmHand.
2. Perform an Activesync to send the FarmHand program across to the device. Then run the program there. It will create empty files ready for your first data to come across. You can have a brief look, e.g. under the Help / About menu option to check you have the latest version. (Clicking the name and version area will show the latest changes made to that release). Close the program Down (File / Exit).

3. The install normally creates a new desktop icon called 'Send data to PPC'. This takes the data prepared earlier by your PC program and dumped into the Farmhand folder and massages it into the format required by Activesync. If you chose to not create desktop icons or can't find it, you can run the same procedure by choosing it under Start / All programs / FarmHand. Then simply perform another ActiveSync. One way to do this is to disconnect and reconnect the device.
It should send your data over. Once you have the system up and going, you only need to run this step each time to get data across to the device.

4. Once you have entered data, you will no doubt want to see it back on the PC! Close down Farmhand on the device and choose the similar desktop icon to 'Get data from PPC'. Next time you run your program it should show your changes. In EasyDairy, any 'red-lined' areas need to be checked out because they will have been rejected.
To import a new updated program one way is to open up two visible "My Computer" sessions.
First ensure the program is not running on the device! Then plug it into the cradle/cable and ensure Activesync is working. Open a My Computer session in the C: hard drive and navigate to the FarmHand folder (as shown on the last picture below) then open the other as shown in the series of steps here.
Then with the original "My Computer" Window showing C:\FarmHand find the file called FARMHAND.CCE and drag it into the other window.
I
f your screen shows big icons slapped all over the place you can get a list view by clicking View / Details in the menu if you need to.
That's all there is to it.
There will be a confirmation message or two but just check the dates on each file to ensure you're not copying in an older version for some reason.
Run the program and click on Help/About to see if the expected version number shows.
