Other Things Worthy of Your Time

Amazon.com Book Review:  Dan Brown's "The Da Vinci Code"
8/2/04

Faith's a funny thing.  If you suddenly discover something that brings everything you've ever believed crashing down, you'll still be holding onto what you believed.

In The Da Vinci Code, it seems like Brown either put a lot of time and effort into researching for the book, or had an impressive background at least.  The story is so loaded with background details and brief history lessons that you sometimes wonder how much of the story is actually fiction.  You’re going to learn some things you didn’t even expect, and to the point you’re going to want to find out if the questions answered are really true.  It’s a testament to the particular genre of fiction, and the material therein.

Besides an impressive blend of facts and myths (blended so well you can’t tell the difference), there’s an exciting story to leave you guessing and move you along.  There’s enough clues for the guessers, but enough surprise to keep anyone interested.

This is the kind of story that deserves to be told, which is the just the kind you’d like to hear.
