Revisited
My High School Romance
It’s been months
since I last saw your face
But not enough for memories to erase
The love is still there and in grace
Still mending and giving craze.
In my room, it’s a photo in a frame
And it’s you in a glass with a name
Shiny eyes, cute smiles, still the same
“Oh! What a beautiful portrait of a dame.”
I remember the day when we graduate
I held your hand as if we were mate
And the feeling was so warm and great
But I realize, the emotions were too late.
Continuing to reminisce cause my tears
Recalling your whispers that I’ve hear
“John’s a guy but not so dear”
And all you wanted was to be my peer.
At night, I pray to God for a link
A bridge of hope to fight these chinks
Or dissolve your thoughts and let it sink
But still, you’re the one I always think.
In my dreams are images of me and you
Happy moments and those others in blue
Some with our friends and my rivals too
“How disgusting this fate, so untrue!”
Back in reality trace no differences
You’re gone and I’m here in fences
Feeling so numb and got no senses
Losing control of all my defenses.
Phone in table never seems working
No calls of beeping or even ringing
Or if it does, it’s not you I’ve been waiting
Or if it’s you, you were never caring.
I’ve tried to call you but you’re not home
And I’m still here, by myself, all alone
-Got a mind that freezes on its own
And a heart that beats out of tone.
Perhaps you’re with him and so happy
Unlike me, in the dark that’s so creepy
Think it’s destiny’s wanted to be
On our sep’rate ways to find another she.
You’re the one I’m in need for so long
The melody of my favorite song
Now that you’re far ev’rything seems so wrong
“Oh God, I pray someone will come along.”
Guess the moment has come to end this rhyme
But continue to linger and grow in mind;
I may not see you right now and in fine
But hope my message will reach you in time.
