Fifty six degrees was 40 degrees above normal; Most years before 1972, the launch of winter meant two feet of snow on the roadways and sharp freezing winds slicing through you like shrapnel through softened butter. Chilling your flesh to the bones, your teeth clattering together almost harmonically. Making the cartilage in your joints chatter and the pores in your skin rigid with goose bumps. \par This has been the warmest winter on record. The people of Lancaster were more than ready for a thick winter, with their beanies, scarves, and mittens, a cup of hot cocoa with tiny marshmallows waiting for them when they decided to retire in doors for the evening. A crackling fire would\rquote ve heated their souls. but this year, it was an unnecessary preparation. The usual winter storm was off behind the horizon somewhere, approaching slowly, but when will it arrive? The storm was a month late and the people where over prepared.\par The streets, where the snow had completely covered years before, making it next to impossible to travel, were lucid and dry, constructing an easy path for a rushed trip to the emergency room. \par Mary Lawrence, a taller woman with lengthy curled hair of marigold, was nine months pregnant and moments away from delivery. Her petite body made her only pregnancy especially painful, making it impossible for her to hide her anguish. It was an instinctive choice for David Lawrence to rush his young wife to the hospital when her pains grew long, and her temperature rose to a dangerous level. Sweat rolled from her clammy but smooth skin, and her shivers where constant, keeping discomfort and irritability close to her. Her flesh felt cold and every time David touched her she would scream in agony. It was like he was mutilating her with his soft touch\par The trip from 1216 Bayleaf cir. To St. Mary\rquote s Medical Center was about a thirty-minute drive doing the speed limit of 35 mph and stopping at all the signals. But the streets where free from ice and the traffic was almost nil at twelve midnight, which made it easy for David to boost his speed to almost 50 miles an hour on the two lane road that led through the mid-sized community. A speed, at which, on the freeway that was almost fifteen miles away, was appropriate, but through town, that speed would be another high-stake ticket, getting lost in the system, binding you to the courts for months.\par The towering street lamps that reflected a dull orange light off of the road led a path through the eerie community. Three Story houses with gables that held confirmation to the greatest ghost stories lined the sides of the two-lane street. Every one of them were completed with the round Victorian attic window with a ghostly image peering out of the highest peek. The figure would watch you. Wait for you. Make your spine crawl with fright as you carelessly pass by.\par But during the day, the story was told in a much different manner. The various dogwood trees that lined the sidewalks provided a family aura about the community, leaving the fresh sent of newly blossoming flowers to lounge around your nose in the springtime, enticing your memory to think of the children \lquote Playing hide \lquote n\rquote go seek\rquote . Taking cover behind the blossoming branches, and kneeling in between the azalea bushes beneath the fine wood trim windows. Letting your thoughts linger on the tranquility of a family oriented neighborhood. But the blooming spring was months away. \par David grew up in Lancaster. The scenery hadn\rquote t changed much since attending Lancaster High and practicing football on the front lawns. Taking Mary Beth Parker to the Prom. David dated Mary Beth Parker the last three years of his high school career. She lived at 3465 Keeling ave. \{the house he had just passed. The house that would eventually decide David\lquote s death.\} She was the one that every one thought would marry David, but on the inside of her heart, there was this stain, the stain of satans blood, just sitting there, glaring at you. The stain was proved to be true to its expression. On one occasion, she had Jake Jacobs, the school tyrant, hide behind the outer wall of the school building, and when David turned the corner, \ldblquote WHAM\rdblquote , A wooden plank slammed across his forehead. Leaving David confused and confined to the hospital for three weeks, he suffered from a major skull fracture and amnesia. Till this day, the scar is still visible underneath the right lighting. It was a major topic for Mary Goldman, \{his wife\} and himself on their first date. \par Being that he was from around these parts, his sense of direction was almost instantaneous. The lights had just helped him see the silhouette of parked cars along the curb. He knew about the stop sign on the corner of Maple ave. and his road, Keeling blvd. \{The oldest road in the city and named after Adam Keeling, the founder of Keelington, now known as Lancaster.\} He also knew about the red light, the one that seems to take forever when you\rquote re in a rush, at the corner of Keeling blvd. and route 669, the major pass-through of Lancaster. \{If you stayed east on 669, you would end up on I-75; from there you could travel north to the Upper Peninsula or go south to Florida.\} but 669 was the only road that left Lancaster.\par That\rquote s where Larry Keys, a local police officer, clocked his speed at 56 Mph. Without hesitation, he flicked the chrome switch and his silent trap had turned into a carnival midway, with the siren blasting and the flashing red and blue lights making the dark street strobe with brightness and brilliance. \{It left a few of the residences feeling safe knowing that the local law enforcements are keeping the streets free of those unwanted criminals. \ldblquote ridden us of the slime that crept up from the greasy swamps.\rdblquote As the Great Chief of police \ldblquote Pete Gordon,\rdblquote claimed in his campaign speech.\} But a few where skeptic, those are the ones that would soon be on-seekers to the most Ghastly crime that this town has ever seen. \par Keys pressed the accelerator to pursue the speeder and the mobile carnival unit raced down the street. It was a chase that would\rquote ve happened a little more exotic, if David would have done the speed limit; it was the speeding that turned a silent mission into a chaotic commotion, alerting the people of the night\rquote s events. \par Another red light would be disobeyed along with a few more stop signs. And as David made his desperate race towards St. Mary\rquote s, stinging sweat flourished from his brow and made its way into the socket of his eyes, causing his vision to blur, like there was this oily film on the lens of his minds camera. But he was an unwavering man, only GOD could prevent him from taking his wife out of harms way. \tab\par \tab\ldblquote Finally!!!\rdblquote The whispered sigh came from under David\rquote s breath as he turned right at the last stoplight. The one that directed traffic to and from St. Mary\rquote s. The parking lot was bare except for the few patches of cars left by the nightshift. They were sitting quietly about the vast paved field. The well-maintained pavement was without potholes, But every hundred feet, there were these smooth topped speed bumps, painted florescent yellow for visibility. \{They where installed when \ldblquote\cf1 Jerry Weeks\cf0\rdblquote was struck by a speeding motorist.\} But David paid no mind to the bumps. He was doing twenty-five miles an hour when he approached the Emergency Department Doors. He slammed on the brakes to make his stop when the chasing police officer joined his squealing. The tires squelched and smoked as they stopped the cars. And in a adept way, Larry Keys had killed the siren to deter attention, \{like the people were\rquote nt alerted to the noise already.\} and he jumped from his cruiser to announce his presence over the bullhorn. \tab\ldblquote TURN THE ENGINE OFF.\rdblquote Before He could finish his demands, David had leaped form his vehicle and ran to the passenger door of his metallic blue 1969 Monte Carlo. When he pulled up on the handle, the door seemed to open automatically and as the door squeaked opened, one of Mary\rquote s fury pink bunny slippers had fallen to the ground. Her bare foot was kicking at the door. It was like there was the phenomenal force attacking her and all she wanted to do is get away from it. Insane she seemed to be.\par David leaned over his frantic wife and reached for her arms to help her out of the car that was left running. And when he did, her water broke, leaving David soaked with the blood mixed fluid. And the stench almost made him gag.\par \tab Meanwhile, Larry had drawn his weapon and hid behind his opened door, taking aim at the stalked, curly black headed man through the rolled down window. \ldblquote I\rquote m ordering you to show your hands\rdblquote the cop was turning the circus of a crime into a scandalous achievement. \ldblquote This is a police officer of the Lancaster Police Department, and I am ordering you to show your hands!\rdblquote Behind David, Larry was throwing a devious smile.\par \tab David ignored the cops\rquote demand, and hoisted Mary into his arms, the way a newly wed husband would do for his fresh bride, and he twisted to the direction of help. He struggled as he hauled his wife and soon to be newborn soon to the safety of a doctors care. \par \tab Larry had bellowed his warning one last time. \ldblquote STOP OR I\rquote LL SHOOT.\rdblquote The warning was direct and stern, but David Lawrence was stubborn, he continued to reach for safety. \par \tab The shot was fast! Too fast! Faster than David! The bullet pierced his shoulder blade, causing the bone to explode with the impact, dispersing shrapnel of bone fragments through his tender organs. And then! Blood pulped from his wound, spurting out like a garden hose that was just turned on releasing the pressure of the confined liquid. He left a trail of spattered blood behind him. He knew that the shot was fatal as he looked down at his wife who was gasping for breath. That\rquote s when he saw it. He saw the pulsing blood! But it wasn't his blood. It was pulsating from his wife's body. And it was pulsing with vitality. Like some one had opened the floodgate to her veins. His vision was growing dark, and the light illuminating from the E.R. was dimming. His last vision was the painful look on his dying wife\rquote s face, as he himself was seeing the pitch-blackness of death devouring him. And he collapsed. Landing atop of his bride.\par \tab\par Larry had pulled the .22 caliber pistol; the one that the chief of police had given to him during their \i off the record\i0 meeting at the start of his shift, from in between his back and the waistband of his uniform as he cautiously walked towards his fallen perpetrator. Kneeling down to the cadaver and placing the \i Black Market \i0 weapon in its hand, he noticed that the woman David was carrying was bleeding. \{he wasn\rquote t supposed to shoot her, just him.\} Her life was slowing and was almost at its end, but Mary Lawrence had seen her murderer. She knew for whom to haunt. \par With her bluish green eyes reaching for him, studying him, like she was preparing for a big test, he stood up, returning the glare. But his glare was unlike hers. His was this cruel undaunted manifestation. It was almost as if remorse for what he has done was lost somewhere in between his assassination and the part of his brain that allows him to feel sorrow. He slowly walked backwards, pointing his state Issue .45 at the pile of death, A moment had passed when he heard the sliding glass doors of the E.R. He looked up from his concentration to the approaching witness.\par \tab\par Dr. Brian Horowitz was tending to a patient when he heard the shot ring through the empty corridors of the hospital. He excused himself from his duties to see what the commotion was and when he walked through the sliding door, he saw the travesty. The clump of blood soaked cloth that clothed the victims stuck to the sides of his mind, it reminded him of the rags he used during certain surgeries, and he rushed to the couple\rquote s aid. He noticed the pregnancy and he looked up at the officer in horror. A worn out smile was replaced by grimace .\par \tab Keys looked serious! A little too serious! But there was a hint of enjoyment seeping through his straight face. Almost as if the sight of spewed blood gave him a discrete pleasure.\par \tab Horowitz put his two fingers on Mary's jugular to take her pulse. Within a few seconds he had diagnosed that she was fading fast.\par \tab Larry shouted out a sharp warning. \ldblquote Step back sir, This is official Police business.\rdblquote His demands where disconcerting to the doctor, saying. \ldblquote Are you serious?\rdblquote his look was sarcastic. He kept up his examination of the couple. And when he lifted David\rquote s body, Mary\rquote s body rolled out from underneath, showing the saturation of red fluid soaking into both of their clothing. And he could see the hole the bullet made. a tattered hole entering into her side where her ribs where. He could see the sheen of the blood layered on the pierced flesh as the pulsing blood slowed its repetition. Like it was running out of fluid to pump. And her breath slowed. She was unconscious, unable to speak. He put his finger on the wound and applied plenty of pressure, the way they taught him in medical school, but it was too late. He tried desperately to save her but the blood just stopped. The pressure was lost and so was Mary's life.\par He looked up at the attentive officer who was approaching him quickly with a pair of chrome bracelets in his hands, and an illicit appearance on his face. Larry turned quickness to stealthy ness, and with a thrust of his body, he was lying on top of Horowitz, grabbing on to his arm, slamming the handcuffs onto his wrist, ripping the skin and exposing the wrist bone. Pain paralyzed his left side.\par When the doctor tried to resist, Larry webbed his hand and palmed is face, the way a basketball player would palm a basketball, and he jostled his head into the concrete walkway. The slab beneath them shook just a bit with the impact. And blood trickled from underneath the doctor\rquote s head, staining the concrete as the blood spilled.\par Larry finished restraining the doctor with his back to the entrance. But he could hear once again, the mechanical noise of the sliding door. He looked up from his duty to see a small mob of people. \{Witnesses\} There were six of these witnesses standing on this side of the glass doors. They were wearing their white uniformed wardrobes with matching shoes with the exception of one pair. The\i one\i0 , was a pair of faded black sneakers that where tattered at the toe. Normally that would be reason for dismissal but with her ties to the community, no one dared to venture that far, Sure, she\lquote s been docked for being out of uniform, but with one stern word from her life long protector, Peggy\rquote s docked pays turned into certain raises. She was the least savant of the group, according to her tattered footwear, and her lackey hair job tailed the backwoods hillbilly aura about her. Her hair was frayed to look as if there might be a nest of ticks nestled in there somewhere. \par The hair color of the other four nurses where varied from bleach blonde to he darkest of the blonde family. And the one that was wearing the worn out sneakers, her color was almost black with a dark red hue to highlight it. \{Maybe the blackness was from the lack of cleansing.\} \par Doctor Kerr was standing at attention behind Tracy, the shortest nurse with the lightest colored hair; his face was well lit up by the florescent lighting that provided security. Dismay was the prescription, on which his face had filled. With the frown of jester and the brow of nobleman, he was confused on the events that where acted out before his very eyes. \lquote Horowitz is the good guy, why are they doing that to him?\rquote Several of those thoughts flooded his mind, keeping him put as Stacy Henderson, the second shortest of the group with the Dishwater blonde hair, almost bleached, took a couple of steps forward from the crowd. \par Larry was staring at the crowd with anticipation. Rearing to use his gun once again. With patients he said, \ldblquote Now hold on people, there\rquote s nothing to see here, just go on back inside.\rdblquote \par His order was disobeyed. Stacy took another step closer to the officer. \par \ldblquote Go on now.\rdblquote a smile perched from his lips. \ldblquote Go on back to work.\rdblquote \par This time he dictated his order with authority. But Stacy was a brave woman. She took another step closer and tried to explain to the officer, \ldblquote But officer, that woman is pregnant. We need to get her inside, before it\rquote s too late.\rdblquote The concerned nurse pleaded in her softest voice and almost with tears coming out of her eyes, as she tried to convince the stubborn policeman to let them care for the expectant woman.\par \ldblquote That\rquote s going to be impossible at the moment.\rdblquote The officer explained his case. \ldblquote This is a crime scene and no one is going to tamper with the evidence, but once we investigate, you can do whatever you want. But until then I must ask you to return to your jobs and let me do my duty.\rdblquote He hovered attentively, his pistol hand over his unsnapped holster. She took one more step before Larry said. \ldblquote Don\rquote t make me arrest you.\rdblquote his grin was on the inside but it took up his whole face.\tab\par She was brave, but she was also intractable, when she set her mind on something. One more step started a torturous journey that would span over twenty years of her life.\par Keys reached for his gun, pulling it from the unsnapped holster and pointing the loaded weapon at the youngest nurse. He approached Stacy with diligence as he shouted out to her. \ldblquote Get your hands up.\rdblquote He was direct with his order and she did as he commanded. Slowly raising her arms above her head, she pleaded with the deputy. \ldblquote But sir! We need to get her inside before it\rquote s too late. What! Are you going to kill the baby too?\rdblquote Worriment fell on her heart, leaving a look of horror on her lean face. Her eyes were thin with a babyish blue center, and the skin under her eyes was puffy, as if she wasn\rquote t getting enough sleep, but they were alive enough to feel the sorrow. \par Larry Keys was one of those types of cops that liked to be in control of the citizens whenever they where around. His dominant behavior took after a Marine Corps drill sergeant. \ldblquote I\rquote m placing you under arrest for interfering with a police officer during the course of his duty.\rdblquote He pulled the second pair of cuffs from his shiny black utility belt, and stepped up to Stacy. When the cuffs snapped shut around her dinky wrist, it shot pain through her arm. Drawing blood once again from the police brutality, He twisted her slender arm behind her back. The twist was fierce, almost fierce enough to snap her bone, but it didn\rquote t. Instead it tightened her muscles, ripping the organ, causing agony to tour the whole right side of her body. \par With Stacy in front of him, holding her arm and cuffing her other wrist, her looked over her shoulder to the rest of the spectators. A warning plumed from his mouth. \ldblquote Surely you have patients to tend to, now go on back inside before I place you all under arrest.\rdblquote A smile kept his lips perched.\par \tab They did what he asked. And he turned Stacy towards Horowitz. She felt sorry for him when she saw him lying there. Just laying there, face down in a puddle of blood, almost like he was unconscious, with his hands cuffed to his back and his body motionless. \par \tab She struggled with his leading but he dominated her, forcing her to walk with him. And the harder she struggled the tighter his grip was on her. \par After taking a few paces, he threw her on to the pavement next to the injured Doctor. \ldblquote You just sit there, and don\rquote t you move. Do you hear me bitch?\rdblquote He said silently. When he leaned into to her, she saw the yellow stains from his stale coffee and cigarettes. And the breath that he used to speak his unruly demands had this stench, a stench of onions and chilly, and peppers, and mustard seed. Underneath those smells, another smell was embedded. This smell was harder to describe, but if you could smell it, it would be worse than the smell of rotten eggs. And it would reach the bottom of your gut, and the acid in your stomach would turn and boil, and it would feel like it was eating at the lining of your stomach like you had just swallowed a full glass of battery acid. She somehow managed not to throw up with the tainted wind that shot her way as he spoke. \par \tab The officer was ruthless when he spoke to her, almost like he was his own superior. He didn\rquote t have to answer to anyone. \{Everyone knows that the police work for the public.\} Stacy was still confused on why she was under arrest, but she knew of the consequences for breaking the law, and right now Larry Key\rquote s was the law. She took regard to the out of control bobby, and did as he mandated. \par Staying uncomfortably in the position that was required to her, she looked softly at Horowitz who\lquote s head was laying next to her. The blood that seeped from his hidden injury was turning to a darker red as it dried; the seeping blood was slowing its flow. She wanted to put her hand on his head but the chrome restraints made the thought unachievable.\par \tab Larry had turned his attention to his pile of death. He made sure that his captives saw him kick the gun out of David\rquote s hand. \{Creating one more piece of evidence in is defense.\} The gun slid across the paved walkway as Keys leaned down to search the cadaver, and when carefully investigated the wet with blood clothes, He found a syringe, Still wet with a clear liquid. He set the syringe aside and went through the rest of David's pockets, Not finding much, Just a few dollars and his Insurance card that he was going to use to pay for the delivery. \par \tab As Larry was conducting his search, Stacy whispered to Horowitz, \ldblquote Hey! wake up! Doctor! Wake up!\rdblquote When the whispering didn\rquote t work, She tried to scoot her body closer to his, it was a little difficult but with a few hops of her butt, she managed to touch him with her thigh. She whispered again, this time nudging him a bit. It was working. \par Slowly awaking from his oblivious state, he moved a little bit, not realizing that he was restrained. He tried to get up, but when he tried, he hit his head on the pavement once again.\par \ldblquote Hey doctor, Are you O.K.\rdblquote Still groggy from the impact, he didn\rquote t answer the first time. \par \ldblquote Hey doctor! Are you O.K.?\rdblquote\par A faint mumble came from him. \ldblquote Huh! Yeah. What happened?" He rested his head on the concrete, realizing that he was bound and couldn\rquote t sit up.\par \tab\ldblquote We\rquote ve been arrested.\rdblquote She was frightened as she explained the situation to him. \ldblquote I don\rquote t know why, but we were arrested. There was a man, \ldblquote sob\rdblquote and this pregnant lady, and there was blood, lots of blood!\rdblquote Her sobbing was turning to cries when Horowitz offered her relief that she would be O.K.. \ldblquote Don\rquote t worry, Everything will be O.K..\rdblquote Reassuring her that things would be just, fine he continued on with. \ldblquote I\rquote ve got a good lawyer, I\rquote m sure he\rquote ll straighten everything out.\rdblquote What was going to happen to them, The greatest lawyer in the world couldn\rquote t help them with this situation. But she was starting to calm down with his tender words. \tab She was able to hold in her tears and the sobbing, but Larry had already heard the whispering and the commotion. \par \tab\ldblquote What the fuck do you think you\rquote re doing?\rdblquote Out of nowhere, his rough looking face with a short frown appeared in front of them. He had the face of a drill sergeant once again as he scolded his prisoners. \ldblquote I told you not to move and you blatantly disobeyed my orders. Do you know what you\rquote re charged with?\rdblquote His tone was that of a threatening nature, almost like a hostel gang member. \ldblquote Disrupting a police officer during his duty. Do you know how dangerous that is, I don\rquote t take kindly to people that endangering my life. That man had a gun and he could of shot you. Or worse, shot me. Now listen up, your are both under arrest for Malicious conduct towards a law enforcement officer. \ldblquote You have the right to remain silent and refuse to answer any questions. Anything you do or say may be used against.\rdblquote The voice trailed off into the night as they gazed at each other. Hoping, Praying that this nightmare would end soon. But it was just the beginning.\par \tab Stacy was dumbfounded on the idea that she was being placed under arrest. And when Larry finished his mandatory speech, all she could do is wave her head in acknowledgement. \par \tab He finished his scolding with. \ldblquote Intrusion is a felony, and it carries a maximum sentence of ten years, If your lucky and you behave yourself, you might get out in five.\rdblquote A chuckle escaped his pitiless voice as he made the threat.\par \tab Horowitz knew that that was all it was. \lquote A threat\rquote A set of idle words carefully designed to distract a person from the true events that surround them. A threat couldn\rquote t stop Horowitz from observing his crude actions, and his unwarranted scolding. And when his attorneys find out about this apostatized officer, they just might have themselves a lawsuit.\par \tab He knew all about his rights and how Larry keys was endangering the life of a civilian, It was all right there in his copy of \ldblquote the physician\rquote s handbook pertaining to the law\rdblquote . He had to memorize it, pretty much, to pass the general admissions test for his internship. And it stated that if any personnel should observe any strange actions performed by a law official while on the premises of any medical institute, you should call the F.B.I. immediately. But at the moment he couldn\rquote t very well do that, now could he? All bound up, laying face down in a puddle of his own blood. \par \ldblquote Now, I want you two to just sit there and shut the fuck up!\rdblquote \tab It was almost a scream as he walked away from his captives; it reminded Horowitz of the fight he had with Jerry Macintire after he caught him and his girlfriend together under the bleachers at half time during one of his football games. He confronted Jerry and when he did, Jerry hit him so hard that he fell to the ground with his nose bleeding and broken. He watched Jerry walk away with his girlfriend in his arm. Now is just like back then, there was nothing he could do about it. Needless to say, he played the worst game of his life that night.\par \tab\par \tab ----------------------------------------------------------------------\par \par Inside, Peggy Adams was in the recovery room standing at the front window that faces the E.R entrance. She was hiding behind the pastel peach drapes that had the picture of blooming red tulips scattered about. Watching with anticipation, her grin was hiding somewhere under the caked-on dark red lipstick. She told Dr. Kerr that she would watch out the window and keep everyone up on what was going on. She didn\rquote t let him in on her true intentions.\par \tab\par John Kerr: \ldblquote Medical Doctor.\rdblquote Well, not just yet! He still has to take his G.I.M.L.T. \{Government Issued Medical License Test\} But he\rquote s working hard at studying and the test \i is\i0 next week. Tonight would be the true test though. It would be tonight that his medical skills would be proved mastered\par \tab John Kerr went back to his patient after the whole ordeal outside. He knew that if anything would happen, Peggy would let him know right away. \ldblquote Right.\rdblquote He had his doubts about her, but at the moment he had no choice but to trust her. \par \tab\ldblquote I\rquote m sorry for running out on you like that Mrs. Roberson. There was a commotion outside, but the police have everything under control. Now! How is your fever? Did it go down since I gave you the Motrin?\rdblquote \par Mrs. Robertson was an elderly lady that came in during the evening shift. She was complaining to the doctor that her chest was hurting. It seemed to Kerr that it was a heart attack and he was going to get confirmation for Horowitz before the ruckus happened, now he had to confirm the diagnoses himself. Or wait until another doctor shows up. That could be hours. \par But he wasn\rquote t thinking about that, He was thinking about Stacy; He and Stacy had dated a few times and he often found himself thinking of her during work. The special circumstances eased his conscious and allowed him to think of his girlfriend, without feeling mortified. \par \tab Mrs. Roberson didn\rquote t know the difference when he rechecked her to confirm his diagnoses. He designated a room for her to stay over night so that should anything arise, she would have immediate care. \par \tab He wrote on his clipboard what floor to send her to and what medicines to give her and then hung the clipboard on the outside of the door.\par \tab\ldblquote You have a good night Mrs. Roberson.\rdblquote And with that, he cut out the light and closed the door behind.. \tab\par \tab Heading back to towards the E.R., he suddenly realized that there was no one in charge. Horowitz was in charge, But what about now, now that he has been hauled off to jail. The thought gave him a shiver.\par \tab He decided that he should call Albert Young, the hospital administrator when Peggy came around running the corner of the corridor. Her pace was fast, and her breath was short as she talked to Kerr. Gasping for air she stated. \ldblquote Someone else is here now doctor, They showed up just a few minutes ago.\rdblquote She made sure that she didn\rquote t reveal who it was. It was almost as if she didn\rquote t know who it was herself. But she knew. It was the same man that caused her envy every time a child was delivered during her shift. It was the same man that assured her a position in the hospital. \par With the new development, Kerr forgot about calling the hospital administrator, and he rushed off with Peggy to the sliding glass doors where they saw Chief of police Gordon talking to the peace officer that held Stacy and Horowitz. They ignored Larry\rquote s warning, and walked outside to see what was going on. Kerr noticed that the Riga Mortis process had begun on the bodies. He looked for Stacy but she wasn\rquote t in sight. He scanned the area in search of her and spotted her in the rear seat of a police car. He frowned with disappointment. \par \tab Peggy was restless when Gordon looked their way. She couldn\rquote t stand still. Like she was nervous. She was like this throughout her shift and Kerr had thought about her actions all night but dismissed it when he heard the shots. \par \tab Gordon was a taller round man, with a brown cowboy hat that covered the top of his long, white hair and the hat casted a shadow over his mostly white beard that hid his lips. The tan blazer he was wearing had the gray leather elbow patches. It hid most of his belly but you could still see the white undershirt being forced to bulge out.\par \tab The voices of the two lawmen were low, undetectable with the exception of Gordon\rquote s shouts, but when he realized that his voice was turned up, he would lower it again. It seemed to Kerr, that whatever it was that they where talking about, it was irritating Gordon. With a last shout from Gordon, Keys had made his way to his car. With Doctor Horowitz and Stacy in the back seat, Larry sped to the stoplight and took a right towards the police station. But that\rquote s not where they went.\par \tab Gordon\rquote s beaded eyes were locked onto Peggy\rquote s as he walked the five yards to face the couple standing outside of the sliding glass entrance. His first words were stern and familiar to Peggy. \ldblquote You need to go on back inside now. I have to talk to the doctor.\rdblquote He waved his hand to dismiss her. With his tone tuned down a bit Gordon\rquote s interest was turned onto Kerr. \ldblquote I\rquote m afraid that we have a critical situation on our hands. It seems that there might be some cult activities going in the area. We have reason to believe that Dr. John Horowitz and Stacy Henderson might be linked with it. Are you the one in charge?\rdblquote He waited for the response.\par \tab Kerr was stunned at the thought of Doctor Horowitz being apart of the occult. This was the man that reported Dr. Simpson for raping Jill Porter during her operation. The whole idea that Horowitz could be apart of the occult was absurd. But here it was, being thrown in his face. \par \tab\ldblquote Well, Dr. Horowitz was in charge, but now, I, I don\rquote t know. There isn\rquote t anyone here except for a few nurses and myself.\rdblquote He acted almost scared when the answer dripped from his mouth.\par \tab Gordon was puzzled by the fact that Kerr didn\rquote t know who was in charge. But he went on to say. \ldblquote This is what I need you to do.\rdblquote His manner was instructive as he relayed his orders to Kerr. \ldblquote Go back inside, and \i stay off the phone\i0 .\i \i0 We think that they may be planning an attack on the hospital.\rdblquote Kerr's hazel eyes lit up with worry when he said that. \ldblquote So we can't let them know that anything has happened. First, let\rquote s get ready to deliver that baby, bring a gurney out so we can take her inside, Then I need you to stay inside, Keep the nurses busy so they aren\rquote t snooping around out her. I\rquote ll come in and let you know what to do next. Do you hear me?\rdblquote He said that to make sure than Kerr was paying attention to his demands. \par \tab He nodded with attention. \ldblquote And \i stay off the phone\i0 .\rdblquote He stressed the point again.\par \tab \ldblquote Do you think you can do that for me?\rdblquote His voice was a kinder voice than the one he used on Peggy.\par \tab\ldblquote Sure!\rdblquote Kerr mumbled in response. Still dazed with his accusations. \par \tab When the Chief motioned that he was through with him, he hurried inside to get the gurney. Cathy Bates and Cindy Blake had started the prepping of the O.R. when they were ordered inside the fist time. They knew that they would need the room for the delivery. Half of his mission was completed by the time Gordon even explained it. \par \tab Tracy Stanton was sitting behind the Information desk that was directly in front of the sliding glass doors that led people to the care of the hospital. \ldblquote Tracy, I need you to come with me.\rdblquote He had no problem adjusting his humble manner to management, and it seemed that the crew didn\rquote t mind taking orders from him. It was a rather smooth merger from internship to head doctor, despite the fact that it was a forced merger.\par \tab She grabbed her stethoscope and followed the doctor who had taken the gurney from its\rquote position on the wall. The quickness was a run for time was crucial and he knew that there wasn\rquote t much time before delivery would be unachievable. \par \tab With the Steel framed bedding in his hands, he approached the pile of death in hopes that there might be life among the reaper\rquote s touch. \par \tab She was light, there was no problem hoisting the cadaver onto the gurney by himself, with Tracy Standing by just in case. There wasn't time for him to secure her to the bed and he ordered Tracy to take the two handles on the opposite end. It was her first time working with a gurney. Her novice approach was clumsy as she walked backwards. She didn\rquote t notice the gun that Larry had kicked form David Lawrence\rquote s hand earlier, and when she stepped on it, her ankle had shifted, causing her to lose her balance. And when she toppled to the ground, one of the handles had nudged into her ribs. She could hear the cracking of the bone as the steel bar jabbed her sides. And agony followed. The agony of shattered bones cutting into your flesh from the inside. Sending her nerves into frenzy of discomfort.\par \tab John had held up his end of the gurney. He almost lost control when Tracy fell, but he was able to sustain it. He gently set the bars down to the concrete and stepped over to Tracy. Examining her wounds, he came up with the diagnoses of a broken rib and a sprained ankle, he prescribed that she go inside and wait in the lounge. \ldblquote I\rquote ll cast this as soon as I can. And grab yourself a couple of Vicodin while you wait.\rdblquote He smiled at her when he said. \ldblquote You can go home afterwards.\rdblquote He placed his bear like hand into hers to help her up from the ground. \par \tab She looked into his eyes, Like a schoolgirl looks into her favorite teacher\rquote s eyes, and said \ldblquote Thank you.\rdblquote \par \tab\par \tab Gordon was inside the still running Monte Carlo, not paying any attention to the emergency professionals, He was searching for something, like he \i desperately\i0 needed whatever it was he was searching for, almost like a crack-head would search for \lquote just one more hit.\rquote The search was consuming him, eating him, like a snake eats its\rquote caged rabbit.\par Kerr noticed the constable rummaging through the car, and the pile of clothing laying rest on the sidewalk that was thrown without care from the vehicle. He ripped the contents out of the car carelessly, and using his pocket knife, he slashed the clothe upholstery. But that information was of no use to Kerr. He was in the concentrations of delivering the baby. \par \tab The two went inside, with Tracy holding onto John\rquote s arm for support. If Gordon were paying attention, he would have seen Tracy replacing John with Cindy and walking off to the lounge. \par \tab John retreated back to Mary\rquote s body with Cathy by his side. They disappeared soon after with the cadaver.\par \tab\par \tab A Band of sirens filled the chilling air, like an orchestra in an ampetheatre, full of sound and the lights dancing on the night skyline exposed the creeping storm. The army of police officers made their way through the parking lot and filed in order in front of the crime scene. \par \tab Gordon was through with his search and standing at the curb when Michael Collins, a rather thin man with a neatly pressed uniform, ready for inspection, should inspection be required, opened his door. His vehicle was in the middle of the neatly filed cruisers. When he got out his car, he stepped up to the chief. \ldblquote So what's going on sir.\rdblquote He was always respectful to his superiors, the type that strived for promotion with his attentive behavior, working late when it called for it, taking on responsibilities beyond his duty. Coming in on his days off, like tonight. He didn\rquote t know that this was his last week in the Lancaster division. Maybe even in the whole state of Michigan. He probably wouldn\rquote t have strived so hard for the Chiefs approval if only he knew.\par \tab It was only last week when Michael went to Gordon for advice. Looking to him for his superior knowledge on a situation that he had with his partner, Jack Wells. It seemed that Jack was pulling over young women and telling them that he wouldn\rquote t give them a ticket if they would go out on a date with him. Michael thought that was a little under morale and he didn\rquote t want any part of it. He had his own reputation to uphold. But he knew what would happen to him if he complained to internal affairs. \{Do you know how when one is inducted to the mafia, how the only way out is death? That\rquote s what it would be like if he went to the I.A. No way out.\} It was when he confronted Gordon with the problem that Gordon put him on the black list. Gordon called it a three-week probation; termination was inevitable. After the third week he would simply say that he wasn\rquote t satisfied with his work and let him go. Yes he was on the Black list all right. But he didn\rquote t know it. It was a secret black list and only Gordon and who ever Gordon told knew about the it. \par \tab\ldblquote It seems that we have another cult on our hands. I found evidence that a certain David Lawrence and his wife Mary Lawrence where in the process of carrying out a bombing.\rdblquote He held a piece of paper that had the words \ldblquote Bomb\rdblquote and \ldblquote Hospital\rdblquote . The paper was wrinkled and folded in spots so it was hard to read it but those words where on it. He saw them. \par \tab Michael didn\rquote t know David Lawrence but he knew Mary. She was the one that worked at \lquote Rubies Hair and More.\rquote Every payday he would go to her shop and ask for her specifically to style his hair. He liked to keep his hair neatly trimmed for appearance, and Mary was the one that he was completely satisfied with, trusting her. He was her regular customer for the last two years. Since the year that he passed the academy and joined Lancaster\rquote s finest. They had endless talks during his sessions with her, about life and dreams. She told him all about how her husband stopped in the middle of the highway and saved a squad of turtles by moving them off of the road. She even mentioned her baby, she told him that they were going to name him Mitch. \caps\par \caps0\tab Not quite convinced that Mary was apart of this devilish scheme, he listened intensely to the chief. He was listening for his excuse to not believe his lies. But non where to be found.\par \tab\ldblquote I have reason to believe that they still might go ahead with their attack.\rdblquote He left the impression on his mind that he had some sort of evidence. \par \tab\par \tab The parking lot was waking up with activity. Residents of the community were starting to gather around the crime scene. It was like there was a circus coming to town and people were curious to watch them set up. At first it was only a few people, but it wasn\rquote t soon after that that the crowd began to grow. It was like a swimming pool filling up with water. Gallon by gallon.\par \par \tab Peggy took her place at the window back inside the recovery room and watched as the detectives took their pictures, and outlined the body with white chalk. She could see Gordon talking to Michael Collins and she was wondering what they were talking about. She tried to read their lips, but vanity overturned her tries. Kerr let her keep up her curiosity to keep her out of the way. She remained there the entire time that the baby was being born.\par \par -----------------------------------------------------------------------\par \par The Cab was almost silent with the exception of Larry Keys muttering to himself. It was hard for Stacy to make out the words with the wind howling through his window, but she could\rquote ve swore he was saying something to the effect of. \ldblquote First he tells me to kill him then he yells at me when I do, what the hell is wrong with that fat bastard.\rdblquote She wasn\rquote t sure if those where his words, or the fact that she was in the back of a police car has her in sock and her mind is deceiving her ears. She just wasn\rquote t sure. She kept the words to herself.\par \tab They didn\rquote t touch each other as they sat side by side in the back of the 1967 Oldsmobile. But they where able to gaze at each other as the cruiser sped through the stop lights, almost hitting a pedestrian at one light who had heard the news and was walking to the hospital to join in on the spectatorship. The cruiser was speeding and so was Stacy\rquote s heart. \par \tab\ldblquote Are you ok?\rdblquote A low whisper entered her ears. His voice noted that he was concerned with her. She was leaning towards him as if she wanted to be touched, Maybe petted. Like a faithful cat lapping you for attention. The tension was tight with the angry officer driving in the front and them two detained in the back. The side view was of plenty of houses standing guard on the sideline with the silhouette of the moon hiding behind the dogwood trees. \par \tab It was only four and a half miles to the precinct but Larry had taken a detour off the main road, Somewhere deep into a neighborhood and beyond. To the wooded city line that separated Lancaster from Detroit\rquote s suburbs. The road ended in a cul-de-sac with a single-story house \{the only one story house in the cul-de-sac\} that had all the lights on and sitting in front of the woods. Larry had turned the engine and lights off and he turned to his captives and said. \ldblquote Now you two just stay put now. I\rquote ll be back in just a few minutes. Don\rquote t be doing anything stupid like trying to escape.\rdblquote A gnarly laugh fallowed the order, as if to say that it would be impossible to escape. He stepped out of the door to walk up to the house. \par \tab There was this figure peering out of the front left window as the door opened. A tall thin man answered and Larry went inside. \par \ldblquote This is strange.\rdblquote Said a shocked nurse in a predicament that she could\rquote ve verily easily avoided if only she listened to the officer the first two times. \ldblquote Why are we here and not at the station? He was supposed to go to the station and book us. Now why do you think we are here? Instead of at the station?\rdblquote\par \tab The bizarre path that the officer took also stunned Horowitz. \ldblquote I don\rquote t know!\rdblquote Ideas about the mis-pathed journey filled his thoughts. \ldblquote Maybe he\rquote s cheating on his wife.\rdblquote The thought brought a small piece of laughter to the couple. \ldblquote No, that can\rquote t be it.\rdblquote Amused by the thought, Stacy said with confidence. \ldblquote That can\rquote t be it, He wouldn\rquote t bring witnesses.\rdblquote Instructing the doctor that something strange was going on. \ldblquote I don\rquote t know what it is but there is definitely something wrong here!\rdblquote \par \tab Horowitz knew that she was a bright girl but at the moment, she was surpassing him with thought. It was probably the gapping gash on his forehead. Or the murderous headache that he was suffering from. \par \par -----------------------------------------------------------------------\par \tab\par \par \tab Back at the hospital, Mary Lawrence\rquote s lifeless body lay motionless on a freshly sheeted operating table; the linen was cold but unfelt by the corpse. Her legs where dangling through two saddles that forced her thighs apart, making easy access for the surgeon. \par Kerr was more than ready for the surgery that was required to deliver the baby, standing over the pregnant body with his hands working on the pulped stomach. There was a scalpel in his right hand and his left hand guided the razor sharp tool. He asked Cathy to cover the incision with the gauze that he had given to her during preparation. But there wasn\rquote t much blood for the bandage to soak up; it was almost like it was only a scratch. Nothing serious. But that was just because of the deficiency of blood in her veins. \par \tab The cut was neat; even though he was working on a corpse, he took the same care as if she where alive. Carefully scoring a straight line. Making sure not to cut into any major organs. Or bruising any tender muscles. But speed was also on his agenda; Larry\rquote s slothful ordeal made time an enemy of this emergency. Cutting it close in the ways of another death. \par \tab The incision happened quickly. Too quick for Cathy! She couldn\rquote t keep up with the doctor that was more educated than she, in the area of medicine. The cut was long and deep, starting from the belly button, ending at the panty line. but the lack of blood kept it clear. It was easy for the doctor to see where the flesh was connected to the muscles. And the muscles glued to the womb a with the veins lying motionless. And the tissues had started to dry out the very instant the conditioned air touched it. \par The sight was too gruesome for Cathy to go on with the helping hand that she was providing. It could\rquote ve been the sight of the stiffening flesh that made her stomach turn in disgust, or more probable, the sound of the flesh ripping from the bones. \i It was \i0 the sound of the tearing flesh that added the feeling of sickness to her body, almost like she where a printer and the sickness was the paper, constantly being feed as the data reached her mind. The nausea was too much and she excused herself from her duties. \ldblquote I will go to the lounge and get a glass of ice cold water to wash away the taste left in my mouth by death.\rdblquote She thought out loud as she walked towards the set of wide solid oak doors. \par \tab It\rquote s been a few years since the embodiment of a corpse had slithered through his fingers, since the days of his fraternity to be exact, almost two years ago. But it was all coming back to him. His final exam was the last time that he had to handle a corpse. His score was an average one, high enough to get him an internship at St Mary\rquote s. High enough to endure the stress that will impend on him tonight.\par Have you ever played with a thick slice of smoothed honey cured ham at room temperature before? That\rquote s what the flesh felt like when he examined the body. The skin was rubbery, yet it was stiff. It made him think of the time he had to Graph a slice of flesh onto his exam corpse. It was vivid in his mind. Fresh like this morning\rquote s coffee. He remembered the stiffness of the corpse and how easy it was to shape the dead flesh to the area of the patch. It was pretty much cut and dry for him. \par In the average dead body, Riga Mortis will start setting in in less than twenty-four hours, but Mary's body was different. She suffered from low blood pressure for most of her life, it was almost as if she where half dead when she became pregnant with Mitch. \{David and Mary had already named the baby if it were a boy, but they didn\rquote t know what to call it if it wound up to be a girl, although David had Mary Beth in mind. \lquote Mary Beth Lawrence; now that has a ring to it.\rdblquote He had always thought. Maybe he never got over Mary Beth Parker.\} When the bad news came to David, \{The news that Horowitz gave them when they first learned of the pregnancy\}, about how the baby might not receive enough nutrients during her nine month feeding period, and that there might be complications during the prenatal stage, he went crazy with worry. It was hard for him to relax. But time went on and every thing went ok. Her last check up confirmed a safe delivery! \par \tab Getting to the struggling baby was a bit difficult with one nurse abandoning her duties and one injured. But he still had a chance of giving the poor soul a life. The blood that separated him and the naval cavity had a darker than normal hue to it. It was almost like it started to clot. He shifted the motionless organ to gain view of the Birthing. There it was. Lying still, underneath all the gore that was left by her body. He thought that the baby was going to die, or even worse, already dead. When he reached his hands into the opening that he cut, but his hands where too big. \tab\par \cf1\tab\cf0 It was definite that everything was against this birth. Maybe it was an unwanted one. Like the irritating scratchie\rquote s at the back of your throat. It was evident that there was definitely something that contained great power opposing this birth. Maybe like a puppet master was pulling the strings and he had some evil contentions with the new born. \par \tab\par -----------------------------------------------------------------------\par \par Larry was inside for a good spell before he came back to the cruiser. His face told Stacy that the meeting, whatever kind of meeting it was, didn\rquote t go so well. In fact, he was almost furious with his expression, but that soon changed when the taller, thinner man came from inside. Stacy could see his wobbling attempt at walking towards the cruiser. His strides where that of a monkey as his rather large hands teetered as he walked. If it where a daylight hour, she would be able to make out his brown busty eyes as he stared her down. \par A deep voice precluded from the dark yard. \ldblquote Is that the one?\rdblquote It was a sincere question directed towards Larry Keys. It was like some unofficial doctrine creeping out from underneath the pile of paper work left on his desk. Deserving an answer? Yes. Of course, if he wanted to make the sale complete! \{It was extra Sale, One that was unexpected. One that wouldn\rquote t have happened if David Lawrence would\rquote ve done the speed limit.\}\par \ldblquote Yeah, that\rquote s the one.\rdblquote His head was slumped to the tablet of paper that he was holding in his hand.\par Stacy could feel the strangers eyes one her. It was like her skin was being covered with the creepies and crawlies of the dark. Slithering across her smooth surface. Looking for some celestial garden to lay their bones for the evening. And the shivers that her spine was enduring where the shivers of fright. The eyes that where laid harshly onto her flesh where still there. There was no magic pill to take care of those creepies. They just lay on her flesh. Almost eating her.\par \tab With one last look he confirmed his order with Keys. \ldblquote She\rquote ll be ready tomorrow?\rdblquote\par \tab Never taking his eyes off of the yellow tablet he replied, \ldblquote yeah, sure thing. We\rquote re going to get her ready tonight.\rdblquote And with that the man turned towards the house and walked slowly keeping his eyes on Stacy. But as he descended into the house, the stare stayed with Stacy, not letting go of her. Leaving her with the stale feeling. \par The ignition winded as Larry turned the key. And with the low hum of the motor as he put the car into reverse, she could hear under his breath. \ldblquote Damn fucking perves, first they want something and when you give it to them, they want a discount, what the fuck is the matter with these people.\rdblquote \par \tab The tires where squealing when he threw the car into drive to speed off and the smell of burnt rubber filled the compartment of the car, leaving Horowitz \{who was still dazed by the blow on his forehead.\} feeling nauseas.\par \tab It was only a few blocks to Main Street. The time was early, but the traffic on the road made 1:00 a.m. seem like rush hour. The Traffic light was slow to let him take the left turn that was needed to return to the station with his prisoners. \par \par \tab Gordon had ordered two of his police men to stand century duty outside the O.R. doors, \ldblquote Wait until the baby is born and come let me know, make sure that the baby is in good health before you get me.\rdblquote And with that \cf1 Michael Scorn \cf0 and \cf1 Thomas Phillips \cf0 had stationed themselves outside the O.R. doors. They waited and watched as the nurses obeyed the doctor, and they where causally talking amongst themselves. One made a shrewd remark about Kerr Standing over the dead body. \ldblquote Look at that sick bastard, It looks like he\rquote s trying to fuck her.\rdblquote It was Michael that shied way from his partner\rquote s remark. It was Michael that had a touch of necrophilia in him.\par \tab Gordon could see Peggy staring out the glass window as he as he dictated his orders to his men. Nothing new to him, just another bystander that was curious about a policeman's work. He didn\rquote t let that stop him from taking the pictures that he needed for the court hearing. Or stop him from outlining David\rquote s Body with Chalk. No, In fact, it was almost like he needed her to watch him. Like he would do something different, something wrong if she wasn\rquote t watching. Like she was his leash, yanking him into behavioral self-consciousness. \par \tab\ldblquote We need crowd control out here, now.\rdblquote The shout was heard by the reporters that where standing on the other side of the Blue Monte Carlo. Back behind the yellow tape that was put up the moment his men arrived. The shouts didn\rquote t seem to affect the journalists. As the crime scene was examined, they took their notes and recorded their tapes \par \tab They\rquote re where a few that casted a Sewell of questions to the Chief, But those questions went unanswered. As if he where deliberately trying to avoid the media. Keeping his eyes turned away from the crowd. Paying attention to only the men that where under his command.\par It wasn\rquote t only reporters in the crowd; In fact, Half the town showed up for the show. And the crowd was growing larger. It was as if Pink Floyd was playing for one night only in the parking lot of St. Mary\rquote s. \rquote You don\rquote t want to miss this show.\rquote \par Gordon had done what he could to keep the crowd under control but there where only a dozen police officers on duty that night, Not enough man power to keep this crowd under control. He knew that, when he called for more back. But in a case like this, he would have to ok it with the mayor before he handed out overtime slips to his crew.\par \tab Once he was off of the phone, he walked to the yellow tape to make a statement to the adjoining press. \par \tab\ldblquote At approximately 11:45 pm Officer Larry Keys observed a speeding car going in the direction of the emergency room, This coincided with he intelligence report that we have, that there might be an attack on the hospital. Knowing the report, officer Keys tried to prevent the terrible happing and bring the suspect in. \par When the suspect was uncooperative, he had no choice but to shoot him, Before he could set the Bomb.\rdblquote\par \tab The commotion in the crowd grew loud as he spoke.\par \tab\ldblquote We are certain that we have everything under control now, so you all can go on home and read about it in the morning paper.\rdblquote He desperately tried to convince the people to clear the parking lot, but they stayed. Keeping the lot full of bodies as more people flocked to the scene. Overcrowding the smooth pavement.\par \tab He left his makeshift podium to return to his duties as the questions kept pouring out of the sea of faces. He left them unanswered as he approached \cf1\ul Jerry Roberts\cf0\ulnone . Another pay-billy that was making sure that there was no evidence left behind for the new cameras to broadcast all around town. Re-election \i is\i0 \i n\i0 ext year.\par \cf1\tab Jerry \cf0 was the loud type. You know, the one guy that can\rquote t seem to lower is voice in the library. When he spoke, the wax in my eardrum vibrated. Tickling my brain. It was definitely not a soothing voice. It was a deep high pitch with a slight crackling to it. It was not quite as feminine as Peewee Herman\rquote s voice in \ldblquote Nice Dreams\rdblquote . \par \tab When he began to speak to the chief about the progress that he and the others where making on the clean up, He turned yellow with lies. \{It was his duty to make sure that the Blood was cleansed from the white concrete. And that the whole scene was made out to be on the up and up.\} \lquote There was no way that this is going to be on the front page.\rquote That\rquote s what he told the chief last night before going home. \ldblquote Yes sir, It\rquote s Almost cleaned up. \cf1\ul Mike\ulnone \cf0 is on the horn with Thomas right now. He should be here pretty soon.\rdblquote The lies should\rquote ve turned his face red with shame but he took after his mentor.\par \tab Gordon was a grumpy old man. Easily irritated. It was almost like her was beaten most of his life. He was approaching Sixty, \{you know how people tend to become more laid back as they grow older, I think that that kindred state of mind was eluding him.\} His irritability seemed to thicken as age educated him. \ldblquote You make sure that you don\rquote t fuck up. Do you hear me?\rdblquote His tone seemed to be exceptionally irritated this evening. The same with his Glare, irritated.\tab\par \tab\cf1 Jerry\cf0 has been on the force for fifteen and a half years. He was Gordon's Collaborator during the Austin Case. That was when he learned of the way of the Lancaster police department. He knew that when the chief is angry, to stay away from him and make sure that you do what he tells you to do. If you don\rquote t, You might suffer the consequence. Like when \cf1\ul Tony Wilson\ulnone \cf0 did when he back talked him Fifteen and a half years ago. \{I wonder if he even had a family?\} No ones ever even asked about \i that \i0 poor soul. \par \tab\ldblquote Yes sir, I hear you loud and clear.\rdblquote And with that Gordon shot back towards the emergency room doors. \par \tab It wasn\rquote t five feet before Officer Collins cut off his pass. \ldblquote Sir\rdblquote The voice was that of a rookie. \ldblquote I still don\rquote t understand why we are the ones cleaning the blood up?\rdblquote It was an inquisitive voice that rang out through the night air. \par \tab Gordon's Irritability was being tortured with the questioning rookie. Looking sternly at him, He grabbed the arm of the fresh out of boot camp cop, \ldblquote Will You shut the fuck up?\rdblquote And he Practically drugs him to the corner of the building, to in-behind the shadows. It was out of sight of the noisy reporters. That where he began his Scolding. \ldblquote What the fuck do you think you are doing?\rdblquote Without a chance to answer the rhetorical question, he shouted lowly again. \ldblquote Why are you here? Did your mother kill herself after you were born?\rdblquote He started to cut deep with his insults. \ldblquote I ought a shoot you right here and right now. Then the world would be rid of one more piece of scum.\rdblquote His face was red; it looked like he was having a heart attack or something.\par \tab Collins was disturbed by this behavior. It frightened him as a matter of fact, almost to the point where he wanted to quite his job. It was difficult putting up with the abuse, But he had to, He was in college part time, His first year actually. But the bills had to be paid and the tuition had to be satisfied. The Pay wasn\rquote t really worth it but it was enough for now. \par \tab Collins was a quite man, one that kept his thoughts to himself. He rarely went on the beat with a temper. But this scolding was really eating at him. His patience was running out. There was a time when He almost lost his wits when the chief was spitting in his face as he shouted. \ldblquote Motherfucker, I ought a spank your mother fucking pansy ass.\rdblquote \par The scolding was starting to rise in volume when another office interrupted his disciplining. \par \ldblquote Now what the fuck do you want?\rdblquote The tone in his voice was that of a thundercloud. \ldblquote Can\rquote t you see that I am busy?\rdblquote\par It was pretty obvious that mike was intimidated by his superior. His voice was crackling as he tried to explain the chief\rquote s faults to him. \ldblquote We can hear you all the way over there.\rdblquote His pointer finger was pointing to where David\rquote s body was just a half-hour ago. \ldblquote And\rdblquote the additional information that he was about to give Gordon was president compared to the discipline that he was dishing out at the moment. If the reporters got word that he was acting Irate then who knows \i what\i0 would be on the front page.\par \tab\ldblquote Ok I\rquote ll be right there.\rdblquote The thunderous voice was suddenly calmed like a storm reaching the end of its course.\par \tab Mike turned back towards his duties of making sure that the Lancaster police was not implicated in any wrong doing on this matter.\par \tab It Reminded Collins of his second day on the Lancaster force. He was riding with Gordon for field ops and when the grand master was talking to one of the local thugs, \{also another pay-billy, hired by the chief himself to work under cover for his black ops.\} his voice was piercing. \ldblquote I snatch that Ring right out of that ear of yours if you fail me.\rdblquote His threats where endless, as he shouted. \par Then Gordon had seen news van Parked across the street, His voice had not been so penetrating when he relieved the pay-billy of his duty. \ldblquote Go on home; take a shower. And I\rquote ll call you later.\rdblquote Much more soothing, Collins thought. He didn't know what to think about the irate behavior that was being exhibited by the county official. That was when he knew that he wasn\rquote t going to be working for this police department for much longer.\par \tab No, he\rquote s not going to work here for much longer at all. He had some big plans; He\rquote s going to graduate with honors and when his little brother gets his act together, their going to start a record label together. Those were his plans. He didn\rquote t want to be a cop like his father wanted him to be. He became one to make his father happy, and now that he has become one, He\rquote s unhappy. Even though he doesn\rquote t know about Gordon firing him next week, He has plans on going to New York this coming up weekend, \{He was being Transferred to New York State University for his final year of studies.\}\par \tab Gordon\rquote s voice; lowered this time, almost like he was trying to be nice; finished the scolding with. \ldblquote Don\rquote t ask me any stupid questions. Now get back to work.\rdblquote With that he left Collins standing there to think about what he has said. And headed towards the men cleaning the bloodstain. \par \tab\lquote What the hell is wrong with that man?\rquote He thought to himself. \lquote His head must have found the wrong side of a swinging baseball bat when he was a kid.\rdblquote\par \tab The thought lingered in his tired mind as he started to head for the stain.\par \i\tab I have to let you in on something; there is this monster that resides in the area. It\rquote s not a monster in the normal sense of the word, but rather the worst kind of monster. The one that you can\rquote t see when it is standing right next to you. You could talk to it and it would be nice to you, you wouldn\rquote t know about the time that his hands drew the blood of an innocent. \i0 But Collins saw him. He saw the monster just a minute ago. Breathing out the fiery plume of breath that was shared by Satan himself. \par \i\par \i0 ----------------------------------------------------------------------\par \par \par \tab Kerr was having trouble with the delivery; it was only his fifth in his career. Delivering a baby from a dead person wasn\rquote t covered in the final exam. It dumfounded him. The Body was stiffening and it was doing it fast. He had to hurry in order to save the baby. \par \tab Sweat was pouring from his brow, and standing next to him was Cindy, wiping his head as he struggled with the stiff flesh, keeping the salt out of his eyes so that he could see the baby that needed rescuing. Just lying there. That\rquote s what it was doing, Just laying there. Not breathing, not at all. Where the inhale and exhale of breathe normally was occurring in a standard birth, it was just wasn\rquote t there. It was hard for him to distinguish where the skin of the baby began and the flesh of the dead mother ended. The rather smooth organ that he knew as the uterus where the baby would have strived until the mother deliberately flexed her muscles to push it out was motionless. The cut that divided the wall so that Kerr could retrieve the baby was too small; it would require another laceration to widen the birth hole. \par \tab It was a gruesome site for anyone to see but it Affected Cindy differently, it was almost like she was expecting to see lots of blood this evening. Seeing the image of a dead baby was enough to make anyone hurl. Or at least leave a saddened image burnt onto their mind, never being able to cast the site from their memory. But Cathy seemed to chuckle at the site. Like it was a cartoon out of the Sunday paper. \par \tab Cathy wasn\rquote t the type to be easily disturbed at the site of death; in fact she has committed a murder without the burden of remorse on her side. It was supposed to be a simple murder but it was more like an enjoyable chore to her. A chore that she rushed home with anticipation for. She was looking forward to taking out the trash. So that is what she thought of her husband at the time. A big bag of trash that needed emptying. Ever since that night, the trashcan of her love life remained emptied.\par \tab The maggots that would make any man that has killed bend over in pain just lay dormant in her heart, not turning into the flies of decay with the thought of her slaughter. Like the maggots had remained unfertile the five years that has passed since the murder. Gordon was the head Investigating officer on that case, maybe that's why the clues where never found!\par \tab She was standing next to Kerr as he lifted the infant from the deceased mother\rquote s womb. It wasn\rquote t moving as it dangled form his immense hands. He lifted it up over the opened stomach of the cadaver as Cathy resumed her position to take the baby from him. She jolted to the crib that was resting by the Doors. The one that was put there 15 years ago when Sharon Lorena was rushed to emergency surgery during her Deliver. \{Sharon didn\rquote t make it.\} But Kelly Lorena did. The baby that was the reasoning behind the crib in the E.R. \{she was moved to Detroit to live with her aunt, Jill Hiesheman.\}\par \tab Kerr went immediately to the crib with Cathy and the baby. There was a rush with his disposition, and when he reached the crib, he instinctively grabbed the heart monitor and shock paddles as he passed them. Cindy was fresh in the way of emergency but she reacted just as fast as the other two for who was trying to keep the life in the baby. \par \tab The three hovered over the Crib, Cathy was holding the drapery that would wrap the baby as it cried when they where through rescuing it. And Cindy was right by Kerr side holding the pillars of the heart monitor. It was a time when a heart monitor was used; you would have to inject the pillars into the flesh, leaving a rather large hole in the skin of the recipient. And as she inserted the pillars, Kerr was applying the electricity over the heart of the infant, in hopes of jolting his heart into ticking. It was of no use. He just lay there.\tab\par \tab The door opened as they tried their hardest to revive the newborn. The squeaking alarmed the doctor as The Two Deputies entered the Room. \ldblquote Well look at this, We have a bunch of morons practicing medicine.\rdblquote A grappling chuckle filled the room as they closed the door upon their exit. \par \par \tab ----------------------------------------------------------------------\par \par \tab Tracy was nursing her injuries in the break room, when she heard the voices of the guarding officers down the hall. After she attached a splint to her ankle she decided to take a walk to see what the commotion was all about. And when she got to the hall, she heard the crude remarks that the younger officers where making about Kerr.\par \tab The remark was lacking the facts as they blatantly criticized the Interns Efforts. \ldblquote Look at that kid, he couldn't tie his own shoes let alone deliver a baby.\rdblquote Sharp laughs where hitting her ears like they were baseballs freshly hit from babe Ruth's power swing. She has Known Doctor Kerr for some time now and she knew that what the ignorant policemen where saying was bullshit. Total bullshit. Not taking in mind about how hard he has worked to earn the position he is in now. No!!! They didn\rquote t know how he has saved the lives of several of the patients that have come to st. Mary\rquote s for help. No!! Not all!!! They where talking about something they had no idea about. \par \tab Her steps were quiet like a ticking clock as she struggled the 20 or so feet towards the insubordinate officers. She could hear the soft tone of the smaller pay-billy as he commented, \ldblquote I think that nurse needs a stiff dick in her ass.\rdblquote \par The chuckling was painful to Tracy as they spread the sharp words. She wished that she would have called in sick this evening. \ldblquote No!!!!\rdblquote She couldn\rquote t do that. She was dependable, the way her mother raised her to be, always on time, never taking time off, even when she truly is sick. On one weekend last summer she almost needed a doctor herself when she came in to work with pneumonia. Her eyes were that of a red rose and her temperature could\rquote ve toasted bread. She collapsed on top of Horowitz right after lunch. He wanted to commit her for the evening but she wouldn\rquote t have it, she took after her mother, stubborn. She didn\rquote t even want to go home after her episode, but she did. \ldblquote There\rquote s nothing a hot cup of tea, plenty of water and lots of rest won't take care of.\rdblquote That's what her mother had always told her. \par \tab It was there, right in front of her, The evidence that she needed to prove to the Mayor that these policemen were corrupt, It was right there, but how could she put that evidence in a bag to show it to the justice officer. The thought of using a tape recorder would help prove her case but then she remembered what happened to her father when he tried to use a taped confession to persecute Gordon almost fifteen years ago. The Judge just threw the tape in the trash. Laughed and ordered Mr. Stanton to step down from his duty. \par \par \pard\nowidctlpar\fi720\sl240\slmult1\tx2970 Mr. Stanton. The Greatest lawyer that has ever lived on this side of Detroit, So the Daily tribune raved. He was actually pretty good. He defended a rapist once, he got him off even though he was guilty. All the evidence was there, just that the rights of his clients where violated during questioning, and he new how to pull the Judges strings when it came to those dreaded technicalities. He knew exactly what to say and when to say it. He knew how to back the D.A. in a corner, really put them on the spot. Stick the knife in even further. He even convinced one judge that the D.A.\rquote s case was all based on one big lie. Made the Judge think \cf1 Stanley Hilton \cf0 was the biggest liar that ever went in front of his hominess . It wasn\rquote t too soon after that that Mr. Hilton went on a permanent vacation without his family. No one has ever heard from him since. \par Tracy has always had suspicions about that night, but it wasn't until recently that she was sure of it. It was last Tuesday when one of the officers had pulled her over, and when she refused to go out with him, she received a speeding ticket. It was unfortunate that she didn\rquote t have a witness to the crime. And that\rquote s the way it\rquote s been for her. The crime is taking place but no way to prove it. \par \pard\nowidctlpar\fi720\sl240\slmult1\tab\lquote To Serve and protect.\rquote That's what every police officer vowed to do during their duty, But what about the few that don't uphold the law, but rather are above the law. What about those few. The ones that sell you the crack that gives you a heart attack and when you are gone and buried they start on your sister. But her fate would be much easier than theirs. \par \tab The voices where growing louder as she approached the sentry\rquote s position. Her Breathing was loud as if her asthma was attacking. And one of the guards had heard her gasping for air. She thought that she had made a mistake when he walked up to her with the blues eyes of terror. His voice was hot with fire as he spoke commands to her. \ldblquote What are you doing here? Your not supposed to be in here. I have strict orders to make sure that no one is roaming the halls while they deliver the baby.\rdblquote It was almost like he was reading a piece of paper with the words on it as he spoke. \ldblquote Now go on back to your post before I place you under arrest.\rdblquote It made her think of the article she read about the streets of Cuba, militia rule, guards on every corner with machine guns ready to shoot. She had seen what happened to Stacy when an officer told her to go on back to what she was doing, and when she disobeyed, \lquote lord knows what\rquote s happening to her now\rquote she thought to herself as she turned back towards the break room. The squeaking of her shoes against the linoleum was quite louder on her return trip. Less caution was used as she did as the officer had demanded of her.\par \tab The return trip left her wondering. \i What if I had stayed, would he really place me under arrest? Or was he bluffing? \i0 She would never know and it was better to play it safe rather than be sorry. Either way, she knew something was wrong, very wrong. Never had she seen a policeman behave in such a manner, never. It was above her head and she knew that she must get out of there.\par \tab\i Maybe it was the bean burrito that I ate on my dinner break a couple of hours ago. Or maybe I\rquote m just too exhausted. \i0 But it wasn\rquote t and she knew what kept her stomach twisting. It wasn\rquote t the burrito and being tired wouldn\rquote t effect her that way. No way. something was wrong and she knew that everyone in the hospital was in danger. It was too late for her to help. What ever is gonna happen is gonna happen. And with her Broken rib and sprained ankle She would do anything but get in the way. All that she could do is slip a note in Dr. Kerr\rquote s coat pocket before she made her escape out the back, And Pray that he finds it in time.\par \par ---------------------------------------------------------------------------\par \par Cindy was holding the monitor that told Kerr that the baby never had a chance to live his first breath. The line never even beeped once as he struck the baby repeatedly with the paddles. Not even once. It was too late by the time they got her inside to where there might have been a chance, but time was lost and now so is any chance for survival. \par \tab Kerr had thought that it was over and he started to Clean up the baby\rquote s body. Cindy and Cathy where cleaning the equipment as the solemn air was quiet. Silence was the way they worked and sadness was lingering in their hearts. Regret filled their breathe, regret fullness that they could not do anything more for the innocent child that lay in front of them. Nothing more.......\par \tab The light of life was snuffed for this one child but another was lurking in the room, unseen by the medical staff. Unheard. They were deafened by the infamous death that lay in their site, It would sound, but none were to hear. It would move and witnesses there are not. They were busy trying fruitlessly to save a life while another was struggling to gain one. \par \tab It was below the severed flesh that it was moving about. The scene was like some ancient birthing ground where they would send in a flesh eating beetle up the vagina to kill the baby. It feed on the full term baby for days. As the mother would lay uncomfortably in extreme pain. Death was common with this practice, but that is what the stomach of Mary looked like. A slithering insect pulping the flesh as it moved about. But there was none to notice. \par \tab It was only a few moments that had passed when the Doctor told the nurses to Clean up. The Alcohol aroma was strong in the air, almost smelling like a drunkard in his final stage before passing out. The instruments needed cleaning for the next use and that is what they where supposed to do after every surgery. And that is what they where doing.\par \par -----------------------------------------------------------------------\par \par \tab Gordon was still playing king outside, he had two of his men positioned on the inside to let him in on every piece of activity going on in there. He would know as soon as the \i Master Child \i0 was born. \tab Twilight is in a few hours from now. The air was beginning to chill as the late storm began its approach towards Lancaster. Blanketing the town below with it's massive winds and its bitter rain. Turning the warmth of the days works into the normal December night. Trying to keep warm, as the wind slices through you like you would slice through a honey glazed ham On Christmas day. The rapidness of the clouding sky made the stage for a magicians disappearing act as the stars where diluted into the vast sky above. Gordon had to retrieve his light Brown parka from his cruiser to finish the evening out. The Sky looked as if it where going to invade the good people of this town and chase them back to their homes. \lquote This would be a good thing\rquote Gordon thought to himself as he stood next to Randall McKay, zipping up his parka.\par \tab Randall has worked with Gordon most of his Career. He started off in the big city issuing parking tickets when he met Gordon. Gordon was attending \ldblquote the great mass of holy endeavor\rdblquote that night. It was an annual meeting where the higher up people in his church would get together and spend the extra cash from the offerings on expensive wine and cheap whores. \par \tab After the meeting, Gordon stopped off at Martha\rquote s kitchen for a bite to eat. It was his favorite place to eat when he was off duty, and in the area, which his church \{international regime for Christ\rquote s army\} brought him here fifteen, twenty times a year. Detroit was the headquarters for the hoodwinked church, and it was the largest chapter in the nation. \par \tab He was eating a T-bone steak when he saw Randy sitting at the bar drinking a malted soda. He was looking kind of dopey and a little tired as he slurped the last few drops of his beverage. He could see the film the chocolate drink made on the inside of his glass. It was this pale brown color with bits of dark chocolate spattered around. The mug was an obvious attempt of copying A&W\rquote s famous root-beer mugs with the shit brown letters MK, and the naval orange oval bordering.\par \tab Gordon approached the young officer in blue with caution, the way he did with all off his recruits. Randall heard the soft steps of Gordon as he approached but disregarded them. He motioned for the waitress as the mongrel stepped up behind him. \par \tab \ldblquote Is this seat taken?\rdblquote He asked with a complete manner that screamed gentleman. \ldblquote I would like to enjoy your company as I finish my meal.\rdblquote The thought that he might have a new recruit by the time he was to return to Lancaster made him ecstatic. It was the next statement the Randall made that made Gordon for sure that he was the right material for doing God\rquote s work.\par \tab\ldblquote It's a free world, do what ever you like, just don\rquote t bother me.\rdblquote It wasn\rquote t so much the words that convinced Gordon but rather the tone he used to speak the unruly words. It was dark without emotion. And it lingered in Gordon's Brain as if it were some kind of religious warning. \par \tab\lquote Heed the messenger.\rquote the warning stuck to his mind like flies to honey. It was almost as if he rehearsed the statement thousands of times. \{I could imagine the site; alone in is room talking to a mirror like Al Pachino in the Godfather.\} He was thinner in those days but the bad attitude and the ruthless form stayed the same.\par \tab\ldblquote Heed the messenger, for I have come to rescue you.\rdblquote The inviting statement made Randall a bit weary about Gordon as he took his seat on the round black stool that was upholstered with cheap vinyl. \par \tab\ldblquote What the fuck are you talking about?\rdblquote Angered that he didn\rquote t heed his own message. Leave me alone you fucking physco. He was about to abandon his seat when Gordon grabbed him by the arm; His grip was tight, and finely toned. He tried to release the grasp, but Randall found that he could not over power the massive strength Gordon possed. Gordon stared deeply into his brown eyes and spoke. \ldblquote Heed what I have yielded to you, for if not you shall turn a horrible death.\rdblquote His eyes where blue, like an angel, but his words were sharp like that of serpents tongue. \ldblquote In your hour of need, god has given me to you to show you the light.\rdblquote His eyes where that of truth as Randall was be spelled by the piercing words. \ldblquote I have come to help you join God\rquote s Army and so you may never live in discomfort again.\rdblquote His eyes squinted as he finished. \ldblquote Should you not heed my warning, Your life will grow short and a thousand plagues shall infest your family.\rdblquote It was a great warning, it was a holey warning, and it was Gods warning. \par \tab A thousand yards reached his stare, almost like he reached the inside portion of his soul with the glare. It was dark inside there, just like in Gordon\rquote s soul. The two matched, like an arrow matches its bow.\par \tab He handed him one of the business cards that he received from his preacher at the meeting. Randall was speechless glancing at the card as Gordon left the restaurant. \par \tab\ldblquote So, Randall? Are you taking care of everything?\rdblquote With ease in his voice he knew that he would hear what he wanted to hear form his life long pupil. \par \tab\ldblquote Yes sir, They cleaned the blood up on the concrete so well that my wife would eat off of it.\rdblquote He tried the break his obvious tension with a little humor.\par \tab He just smiled as he glared off into the distance. \par \tab\ldblquote We should be done here in just about an hour or so. But what are we going to do with those fucking witnesses over there.\rdblquote Randall pointed his head in the direction of the crowd.\par \tab\ldblquote Let me take care of that, You just make sure that every thing runs as planned.\rdblquote He was assured that Randall would make sure those things happen.\par \par -----------------------------------------------------------------------\par \par \tab Kerr and Cathy and Cindy where restless with the child that was never to breathe his first breath as the corpse started to come to life in the back ground. The moving cadaver remained unnoticed. The unseen child was struggling to fight his way past the bloody tissue that contained he and his brother for the last nine months. \par \tab The air had the stench of Mary\rquote s decaying flesh roaming around within it. Cathy could taste the tainted smell. It pricked her tongue with its rotting aura. Leaving the tang of dead flesh hammering away at her buds. It would\rquote ve made her gag if it weren\rquote t for the mourning of the dead child in front of her. Her thoughts were infected with the plague of death.\par \tab Cindy did her best to hide her tears form her peers, but there were ones that had escaped her tries. She soon would know what death is even though she was a witness to his wrath this evening. It was just a taste for her, she lost her mother a few months ago, and she was afraid that she was mourning more for this child that she has never met before than she did for the lady that raised her from birth. A Divided sadness filled her heart. \par \tab Kerr had seen her Tears and felt her pain. But there was absolutely nothing that she could do for her; she was on her own with this one. \ldblquote Ok! Lets tag him.\rdblquote\par \tab It was almost unfeeling the way he said it. Cindy almost felt like slapping him for the cruel and unkind remark, it reminded her of the two officers outside the room when they commented shrewdly about Mr. Kerr himself, Earlier. \par \tab The gurgling sound was too faint for the three to hear. It was the gurgling of the unborn trying to breathe his first breathe. As his tiny hand grasped in desperation the upper portion of the birth sack, He would dig his fingers into the tissues. It was like he was trying to climb his way to fresh air. And the gurgling grew louder.\par \tab They were preoccupied with the death of a newborn and the gurgling was ignored, and then the suckling came. It was that of a baby sucking on a binky. And the suckling became more audible to the working professionals. \par Cindy was terrified with the death. She started walking backwards away from the death, not paying attention to her steps. She tripped over a cord that was attached to an I.V. rack The cord seemed to wrap around ther feet as she tumbled to the floor. On her fall to the floor she held her arm up in reaction and tried to use the operating table that Mary\rquote s body was lying and as she fell her arm hit the scalpel that Kerr set on the edge of the table. And the scalpel flipped into the air doing summersaults, and when it fell it landed, sticking into the struggling babies arm. Cindy stood for her fall and seen the shiny stainless steel knife sticking out of the baby. \par It was Cindy\rquote s Screech that alerted the doctor of the undiscovered newborn. She stood in fright yet surprised and Her hands covered her mouth, which was dropped open. And her shirt was shimmering with a sudden draft that came from the baby that was in front of her.\tab\par His shouted words broke her spell. \ldblquote Get that heart monitor over here stat.\rdblquote It was complete confidence that he ordered about. \ldblquote Cindy, I need you to go get the towels. We\rquote re going to need a few of them.\rdblquote He patted her shoulder as if to dismiss her as he briskly trotted past. And the eye contact he threw to her told of the emergency that was at hand. Her quickness was desperately needed. \par \tab As Kerr approached the dead mother\rquote s body, he could see the size difference of the two infants with just the glance of the dinky arm with the knife sticking from it, struggling to be freed. This one was considerably smaller than the other. He looked a little frail for one that is fighting so hard to survive a tragic birth. He was pulling himself up from the cavity that incubated him for so long. His hands were no larger that that of a Suzan B. Anthony coin. His fingers looked almost like pieces of pale cream yarn. His head was a bit oversized for his chest, and oval in shape, The most oval shaped head he has ever seen. He thought that it was a little unnatural. \rquote But fuck, I'm not even licensed yet, what the hell do I know.\rdblquote The thought soon passed as his eyes met the unnamed child\rquote s eyes. They where cloud white with no pupils to speak of. And the baby returned the glance. Almost like he knew Kerr personally. \par He could\rquote ve sworn that the baby cracked a smile at him as he reached in the Crib to pick him up. And then he noticed that the umbilical cord was absent. And then the newborn started to cough. It was like he was smoking a cigarette of something. That\rquote s when he saw it. It was the most bizarre thing he has ever seen before. It almost made him toss his groceries with the sight. The small round organ dangling from his teeth. \lquote Holy shit, he chewed through the life cord.\rquote His perch became slack and his helpful manner turned to a frightened five-year-old. Shaking with fear with the sight of the infant chewing on the life cord. Blood drizzled from the corner of his lips as the dangling cord slowly disappeared into its mouth. It was almost like he was slurping up a strand of spaghetti. His Teeth slightly shown, where the color of some mystical cloud garden with the sparkle of a genies eye. His fierce stare was slicing though Kerr. Like a steak knife. It was like he knew about the skeletons in his closet. He stared straight through him. Like he was some kind of transparent stain.\par And then the feeling come over him, It was the feeling like that of fresh chocolate cookies in the oven. And he where the five-year-old boy anxiously awaiting the warm sweet taste of cookie and semisweet chocolate chips melting in his mouth. It was his time to share the glory that god can pass through each and every one of us.\par Cindy was obediently taking her place retrieving the towels from the linen closet. It wasn\rquote t too long before she joined Kerr\rquote s side to watch the celestial show. She was stunned without emotion at the site. And just then a puff of light gray smoke plumed from the infant\rquote s mouth. It was almost like a he where an oven and they had left the turkey in too long. The plume was followed by a low humming. It reminded Kerr of a band of flies with the deep flapping of their wings zinging through the air. And the Humming became louder as the smoke thickened. Cathy and Kerr\rquote s eyes where irritated with the smoke but the anticipation kept their attention on the child. \par And the humming grew.\par It was starting to be clear as an almost Deaf tone sprang to life from the smoke screened infant. \par And the humming grew. \par Hmmmmmmm Bzzzzzzzz hmmmmmmm Bzzzzzzzz hmmmmmmm Bzzzzzzzz it was in repetition with the child\rquote s breathing. In between exhales you could hear the Buzzing ever so slightly. \par And the humming grew. \par As the Spaghetti disappeared into the mouth of the infant you could see the eyes, they where the color of a cold storm cloud, And they where changing. They were turning to the color of pale lemons as the smoke started to dissipate. And the smoke cloud that hovered over his face turned to a sound. An almost silent sound. But it was visible. Yes, Quiet visible, The smoke was vanishing leaving behind the vibrating hum. It was disturbing the tranquility of the air, and ripples shot form the baby. Almost like dropping a rock into a calm pond. And the vibration filled the room. \par And the humming grew. \par It was a madding display of gore as the blood-covered face smiled intensely at Cathy Cindy, and Kerr. Cindy\rquote s Mouth dropped to the floor and her heart started to beat with ferocity, Her mind began to wander about the room as the baby started to shake. His head resembled that of an epileptic, as it shook feverishly. \par Cindy thought to her self. \ldblquote How could this be happening?\rdblquote Her tears started to blur her vision and the baby disappeared into the blur. Kerr took her arm to make sure that she was all right but her heart was just racing. It was too much for her to witness. Her nervous breakdown would come at the worst of times. And her knees Began to weaken.\par And the Humming Grew. Kerr stunned at the sight could feel Cindy beginning to fade. And she was too heavy for him to hold. His mind was heavy in thought and fixated on the miracle that was being performed before his very eyes. His concerns for her where over powered by this miracle. And then. Just then a Cloud of Fruit flies plummeted form the infants mouth. The clan of flies seemed to Truffle over the medical staff. And the Cloud of flies Grew. \par The Humming noise was piercing now that the flies made their way through the Baby\rquote s body. And they circled over the infant. And the cloud grew in size. And then there were thousands upon thousands of them flying in circles over the baby. The Blood began to spread on his face as the flies exited through the mouth. And then His eyes began to pulse, and bulge. It was straining the balls of the eyes and then the vessels began to enlarge. The eyes exploded and flies began to spout from the sockets. \par Cindy collapsed to the floor and Kerr let her arm go. He was paralyzed with the sight. There was nothing that he could do for her. Nothing at all. \par \tab\par The double hung swinging doors seemed to be magically sealed as the two assigned officers tried to gain entrance to the O.R. They were ruthless with their banging. The small square window that you could normally see through was covered with a dull slime and the observation window was tainted with he same slime. Impossible to hear the rattling of the doors as guards tried to open it. The rattling filled the air but the humming of the flies was too powerful. \par And the cloud of flies began to grow.\par It was too gruesome to watch the baby bleed to death but was that it? Bleed to death? No!!! \tab It couldn\rquote t be. They had just found him. They couldn\rquote t let another one die in the same night. In the same shift, in the same hour. It was a burden that they had to haul around with them for the rest of their short lived lives if they let that happen. As the Baby laid in pain, and watching the flies plume from its mouth, Cindy knew that she couldn't take too much more. Her stomach turned at the sight. The acid reached her tongue and made her gag, she could taste a rotting tang infesting her buds. \par \tab\par \tab ----------------------------------------------------------------------\par \par \tab It was two hours before twilight when the mayor showed up. His white Cadillac raced the fifty yards through the lot and he squealed to a halt just behind Gordon's Trans Am. There was only an inch in between the two cars. Gordon was watching the mayor as he opened the driver door. He was half-dressed in his \ldblquote Kernel Sanders\rdblquote suite, and his tie was absent. He was awakened by the call and a rush was priority. His grayed hair was scraggy and his clothing wrinkled. His Black loafers where shiny from yesterdays shinning. \par \ldblquote What the hell is all of this?\rdblquote Mayor Thomas demanded diligence from his chief of police. \ldblquote Why the hell is Mike calling me at one thirty in the morning.\rdblquote Sleep was depriving him of his words. \par Gordon was thinking to himself. \i\rquote So, You didn\rquote t get enough rest. Well, After tonight you will get all the rest want.\rquote \i0 A devious smile breached his lips. \ldblquote Right this way sir, I\rquote ll explain everything to you.\rdblquote He grabbed for the mayor\rquote s sleeve to lead him through the crowd but the mayor pulled away from him. \ldblquote Don\rquote t touch me.\rdblquote It was obvious that the awaking irritated him. \ldblquote Don\rquote t you fucking touch me.\rdblquote \par Gordon snarled under his breath as he led the mayor to the entrance of the hospital.\par \pard\nowidctlpar\fi720\sl240\slmult1\qc\ldblquote Well, sir. At approximately 12:35 Officer Keys observed a speeding car headed in the direction of the hospital. The report coincides with he intelligence that we received last week about a possible bombing attack. He thought quickly and ended the attack with brute force. Possibly saving hundreds of lives. There\rquote s just one complication. The lady that was in on the attack was due for delivery.\rdblquote There was no remorse for the concealed murders on his face. \ldblquote I have taped off the entire scene and everything is wrapping up now. All you have to do is make a statement to the press about tonight's events.\rdblquote Leading him through the sliding doors, he continued into the E.R.. You can gather your thoughts in Dr. Horowitz office.\rdblquote\par \pard\nowidctlpar\fi720\sl240\slmult1 The mayor noticed the two guards trying to gain access to the O.R. as they walked past the main foyer. \ldblquote What the hell are they doing?\rdblquote The ruckus made him nervous.\par \ldblquote Oh! Nothing sir, We think that one of the terrorist is in there. Lies filled the mayors ears. \ldblquote We have everything under control, don\rquote t you worry about it. We are wrapping it up now. He led Thomas to the closed door that read \ldblquote Dr. Horowitz\ldblquote . Inside, there was plenty of room for a large handcrafted Mahogany desk. There were two chairs on this side of the desk. One was red and the other was orange. \par Gordon took off his cowboy hat to point it in the direction of the lounger on the other side of the desk. That\rquote s where Thomas\rquote s anger met him with the tallness of the Eiffel Tower. All those anger management courses that he Has attended went without memorial, The wrinkles on his face where flared and the redness was abundant. His first words were uncontrolled as he scalped Gordon with scolding. \ldblquote Why in the fuck are you calling me at twelve thirty in the goddamn morning.\rdblquote His rounded nostrils swilled as the used oxygen escaped. And the then the threats came. \ldblquote Don\rquote t you know that I can fire your ass for this bullshit that you\rquote re pulling?\rdblquote \par \tab Gordon was a little embarrassed as he listened to his unruly mentor babble on. Trying to jump into the path of screams he raised his voice. \ldblquote But sir.\rdblquote The mayor wouldn\rquote t let him alter the conversation. \ldblquote Shut the fuck up. I\rquote m talking. You know better than to interrupt me.\rdblquote It was the same manner that Gordon himself used just one half hour ago on Collins. \par It really wasn\rquote t so much that he received a call in the middle that disturbed him so. But rather the call came from a sergeant and not the chief himself. \ldblquote If it were a real emergency then Gordon should\rquote ve called himself. It made the mayor feel that he wasn\rquote t important enough to be personal, not have his middleman take care of it. It was a feeling that Mayor Thomas wasn't about to tolerate. Not even for a minute. It was the feeling of peasants, not kings. And as the Mayor saw it, He was king.\par \ldblquote But sir." Gordon squeaked again. This time with a feeble voice. \par Fruitless was his attempt. \ldblquote There you go again. Interrupting. Do you now what\rquote s going to happen now.\rdblquote Pointing his finger at Gordon he dictated. \ldblquote You\rquote re out. I what you off of this case, and when you get back to the station. \ldblquote CLEAN OUT YOUR LOCKER\rdblquote I want you off of my force.\rdblquote His face was red as balloons as he fired the Chief. \ldblquote Get out of here.\rdblquote He pointed his finger to the door. His Glare was mean in nature. \par Gordon had no problem with getting fired. He knew something that Thomas didn\rquote t. He knew that tomorrow, He would no longer be mayor. He took his exit. \par It was in the hallway that Gordon noticed the jarred door that was marked \ldblquote Recovery Room\rdblquote . It was the room that he told Peggy to watch out the window from. It was there that he had to change the plans.\par His salute to the guards told them to stand fast and wait for further instructions. \par As he entered the room He slowly shut the door behind him. He noticed the all of the beds where empty with the exception of one, the one that was closest to the entrance door. Freddy Williams occupied it. He was assigned the bed after his bypass surgery earlier in the day. He was to be released by the morning crew. The hour would never come. \par He walked up to the old man that was recovering form surgery and observed the plastic tubes stuffed into both nostrils. He could hear the pump breathing for the old man. Chshshshhshsh Chshshshhshsh \par He reached for the tubing and yanked them from his nose. The Old man felt it. It was like a solid steel plate scraping against the gristle of his nose, cutting past the mucus membrane. He awoke with the pain. \par Staring him in the eyes, Gordon muttered to him. \ldblquote Don\rquote t worry old timer, you\rquote ll be with Christ soon.\rdblquote The words let him know that the he was going to die. \{I wonder what it would feel like to know that you\rquote re going to die before you actually do.\} It was the feeling of betrayal and envy and anger and fear, especially fear, all rolled into one big jumble of nerves. His muscles tensed as Gordon Held the pillow over the old mans face. He started to fight for his life but his breathing was at half throttle. He was old and frail, not strong enough to ward of this giant foe. His breathing became shorter and his efforts were dieing as his strength failed him. Gordon could feel the old mans body twitching underneath the pillow. And his breath became no more. \par He removed the pillow form his victim and stared into his eyes. They trickled tears of blood for the busted veins. And he Said \ldblquote Sweet dreams you stupid fuck.\rdblquote\par Now that there weren't any witnesses, so he could turn his attention to his business at hand. Looking at Peggy who was shocked by what she had just witnessed stared at her daddy with horror plastered on her face. \ldblquote DADDY!!!\rdblquote What did you do!!!!?\rdblquote She demanded from her father. \par He defended himself. \ldblquote Now hold on darling. You knew that there were going to be people dieing tonight, he was just one of them.\rdblquote \par \ldblquote Yeah, But I thought It was going to be in the bombing, I didn\rquote t think that you were going to actually kill someone with your bare hands.\rdblquote She was crying with the thought of his murderous hands. \par She knew that he had it in him, After all, How many times did he threaten to kill her herself? She knew he had it in him. She knew. It was jus the first time that she had to actually see it. She had always wondered what happened to Heath Peck, her first boyfriend he came up missing and was never found. Now she knew what happened to him. She doesn't have proof, but she knows. \par It wasn\rquote t her fault thought it was a life judged to her by her father. It was her father that took here Virginity away from her at the age of twelve, and it was her father that killed her mother, and it was her father that killed Heath and it was her Father that Killed Freddy Williams. \par Tears where flowing from her face as Gordon embarrassed her in his arms. They way a Caring father should. But he was not caring, not the slightest bit. In fact, he was uncaring. Peggy was an accident in his eye, and he made she that she knew. Seventeen and imprisoned for life. \par \ldblquote Shhh.\rdblquote Gordon remarked. \ldblquote Don\rquote t worry darling, everything is going to be all right. I\rquote ll make sure of it. After tonight you will have your baby.\rdblquote It was five years ago that Gordon came home from a church meeting on Christmas Eve. He was drunk on tequila and his attitude was much angrier than normal. She was his whore that night. He ripped the brand new evening gown that she bought with her babysitting money from her body. It was that night that he rammed his private part so hard into her that her Ovaries Burst. Making Pregnancy impossible. It was that night that he looked onto her from then on like she was his whore. It was those thoughts that kept her faithful to him. Shear fear. \par She tried to pull away from his embrace, but he over powered her slinky body. In that same caring manner he said. \ldblquote Don\rquote t worry darling. It\rquote ll be ok.\rdblquote \par She reduced her struggling because she knew that his countless threats were real. She knew that she was just as expendable as every one else on his payroll. She knew that she was just another pawn in his deadly game. \par She could smell the Heineken that he drank earlier on his breath. It was accompanied by the stale aura of Marlboro cigarettes. And as he spoke to her spit would fling form his lips. \par \ldblquote Don\rquote t be upset with me, Daddy. I was just scared. I\rquote m ok now. Please let me go. \par He w did as she asked\par \ldblquote So!!! Did you bring the plastic like I asked you?\rdblquote\par She concealed the whine in her voice the best that she could. \ldblquote Yes Daddy. I did. They\rquote re in my knapsack like you told me too.\rdblquote\tab\par \ldblquote Where is the knapsack?\rdblquote He demanded form her. \par \ldblquote In my locker.\rdblquote \par \ldblquote Ok, Good.\rdblquote He looked relived that Plans weren't to messed up. It wasn\rquote t supposed to go down like this. There wasn\rquote t supposed to be any witnesses to the bombing. It was supposed to happen like this. Mary was supposed to be alive to deliver the baby, and David would\rquote ve made a great servant. It was supposed to happen discretely, Outside of the public eye. \ldblquote But no!!! Of course it wouldn\rquote t happen that way. I should\lquote ve known better than to leave a job as important as this one to Larry Keys.\rdblquote He was cursing at himself with his thoughts. \par \ldblquote I want you to go place them where we talked about. Can you remember where to place them?\rdblquote His tone turned to that of her employer. \par \ldblquote Yeah, I can remember where, I have it written down.\rdblquote Her confidence was surprising to Gordon. \par \ldblquote Ok!!! Go!!! I will meet you in the Operating Room when you\rquote re done. \par With his instructions, she left the room, glancing at the body as she left. \par Gordon had no remorse for what he had done to Freddy and that was nothing compared to what he was going to put the Mayor through. It was just a matter of time now. He had to wait for him to come back in from his statement. This was the perfect room for him to await his next murder.\par \par Peggy New the officers that were trying to break through the solid oak doors. She knew them better than she wanted to now them. It was Fathers fault that she knew about Michaels Scorns Uncircumcised penis. And it was his fault that she knew about Thomas Phillips small wiener. It was his super bowl party that she found out about all of his friends. It was that party that she became the fuckdoll for the whole force. \par \ldblquote Hi Peggy.\rdblquote Michael said with a boyish smile on his face. Are we still on for tonight? He stopped his struggling with the doors long enough to confirm his date with her. \par \ldblquote Yes!! Sweetie!! We sure are.\rdblquote Her phony smile fooled him as she passed him with the knapsack. She disappeared behind the corner and he went back to his efforts. \par \par The Solid doors were magically sealed all right. They couldn\rquote t even break the glass with a their billy clubs. It was magic. It had to be. But there's no such thing as magic. Everyone knows that. It had to be something much more powerful than magic. What ever it was it was stronger than the two Pay-Billys out side the O.R..\par Kerr was watching the celestial show and the Flies were in massive force. It was hard to see the outer wall through the millions of flies. It was like a black smoke pluming from that second child. And with an instant the infant stopped jerking and shaking. It was a calm that had sheathed him and allowed him to lay at rest. Not moving, Not breathing, Not anything. Just lying there. And the flies where swarming his body. They were like a crown hovering over him and mystical voice filled the room. \ldblquote Don\rquote t worry my children, You Will be were you belong in just a short while. And the voice was soothing as it spoke. It was as if all the worries of the world were absent for just that short while. \ldblquote Don\rquote t worry my children, there\rquote s nothing more that you can do. Just relax and it will all be over soon. And the mystical voice was gone just like it came, out of nowhere. And the flies flew in formation over the second infant, And the body began to decompose, turning the flech into ash. and then their route turned. They headed for the deceased infant across the room. It was their duty. He was their final destination; they were his new soul.\par Mesmerized by the events, all they could do was be witness to this miracle. And the flies formed into the shape of a hand. \{Maybe it was God\rquote s hand\}, and the fingers spread the lips of the baby apart and the huge hand started to enter into the mouth of the baby. Slowly they descended into the baby, and the black cloud became smaller. Until. It was all of a sudden. The remaining of the hand sucked into the baby, closing its lips as it disappeared. And at that same moment, the magic was lifted off of the doors. The two guards busted through. The newborn started to cry. \par -----------------------------------------------------------------------\par Peggy opened the door to the supply closet. It was the first room on the list. It was the first place for the fist bomb. It was one of the main supports for the building. \par It was father\rquote s fault that she had to resort to this. It was fathers meeting that she had to attend that learned her of c-4 plastic explosives and it was father that told her where to put the bombs.\par It was a task that made her nerves rattle. It was the task that was placed under her by her father. It was the task that would make her father proud of her. She didn\rquote t like to disappoint her father. She didn\rquote t like the consequences of disappointing her father. It was her father that kept her thoughts on her task.\par Sweat dripped form her smooth skin and her palms were wet. Her knees ached with the excitement. It caused her blood to boil. She wasn\rquote t like him. No!! Not even a little bit. Not at all like him. She was the victim in their twisted relationship.\par She kept his face right there in front of her mind. Where she would feel safe. Where he could comfort her when she felt doubt. Where she could console in him. Right there he was. With every step. With every placement of every bomb. He was there with her. \par \par Mayor Thomas standing in front of the Crowd making his speech. It wasn\rquote t necessary for him to bring up Gordon\rquote s dismissal. In fact, Gordon's name didn\rquote t even come up in his speech. It was like he forgot about him. It was like he never even existed. But he did exist and he was involved. Yes he did exist, and he was waiting for Thomas in the shadows. Watching him. Waiting for the right time. It was sure to come. And it was soon.\par \ldblquote I\rquote m sorry for all of the confusion. If you remain silent I will make a statement. If not you all can wait until morning.\rdblquote The crowd, Anxious for his words, became silent. \ldblquote At twelve thirty this morning, Officer Larry Keys observed a Midnight blue Monte Carlo.\rdblquote He pointed to the car. \ldblquote It was speeding down the road and the vehicle matched reports of a local group name \ldblquote The National Regime of Christ\rquote s Army.\rdblquote There are reports that they were going to bomb the Emergency room. These acts of terrorism where confirmed just a few minutes ago when Officer Keys obtained a search warrant to search the residence of a suspect. It seems that the evidence implicates the following people.\rdblquote It was like he was reading from a piece of paper as he implicated. \par \ldblquote Stacy Henderson, John Horowitz, David Lawrence, and Mary Lawrence. There might be others in the area so I will ask you all for your own safety to return to your homes. I will make another more detailed statement in the morning when we know more about the situation. But Please!!! For now!!! Just go on home.\rdblquote He pleaded with the crowd but it was evident that they weren\rquote t going anywhere. They where there to stay. They didn\rquote t want to miss a single thing. \par Mayor Thomas turned his back on the crowd behind the yellow tape, and headed for one of the sergeants lounging around the chalk line of David's Body. \ldblquote Listen.\rdblquote He searched his uniform for a name. \ldblquote Sergeant Bender, You are in charge of this investigation now. George Bender was excited to hear the news. But he felt a little funny about it. It was like he was betraying Gordon. He didn\rquote t want to do that. But, too disappoint the mayor? that would be a bad career move. It twisted his feelings about being in charge. It made him uneasy. He was going to take the job on with an emperor\rquote s smile. And the leadership he will provide will be that of a General. He was going to chalk up points for his promotion.\par \ldblquote Yes sir. I won't let you down.\rdblquote With that matter settled he informed the sergeant that he was to extend the safety zone to the streets. It was there that these witnesses couldn\rquote t get a true picture of the explosion. Of who was going in and going out. \par He knew about the bombing, Yes he did. He was the words behind Gordon's mouth at the secret meeting. He was the messenger that told of the desire of fresh blood for the grand Pooh-Bah. He was the one that ordered the capture of the gifted child. He was the one that set the plan in action. It was his meeting with Charles Logan that put the night into perspective. \par \{Charles Logan. Is he a man? Or is he this Monster that has the face of a camellia in the day and snatches your soul right from your heart in the evening. It was the latter of the two for you and me but for Mayor Thomas and Peter Gordon, And Larry Keys He was the Man that told the twisted tail of how Jesus Christ was calling on them to do his deeds. No matter how dirty they were. Indeed, they were Dirty. They were scoundrelest and Murderous. They where the deeds that gained Logan his position In congress. It was those deeds that Shirley Caffrey met her grave when Mayor Thomas was First accepted into the brotherhood. It was the deeds that caused Mayor Jordan swam in Lancaster Lake for two weeks.\{that would be the deed that ensured Thomas\rquote s high position.\} they were the Deed that Charles Logan had set forth to his phony army.\}\par Charles Logan. A man of the community. A man that you would trust your children with. Those where propaganda listed words that he used in his debates for Senate. Charles Logan, A man for the people by the people. But who\rquote s People? where they the people that Voted every November, Or was the people that he lied to when he begged for campaign money. It was the campaign that he made his threats against poverty and drug use. It was his Campaign that he loose lipped the unemployment problem. \par It was Charles Logan who recruited Thomas and Gordon Into the regime. It was the words that he said to Thomas and Gordon \ldblquote Heed thy warning for if you betray our lord, leapers will consume your flesh and fire will scorch your soul for all eternity.\rdblquote It was those words that blackmailed their faith.\par After entering the Hospital for the final time, so he thought, He watched the memories of his wife being wheeled down the hall, Strapped to a Bed. It was so vivid in his mind. He could smell the Musk perfume that she was wearing that night. Her Face was Drenched with sweat as they extended down the hall. she was crying out to him. \ldblquote\cf1 Earl\cf0 !!! Please help me!!!\rdblquote A tear swelled in his eye as he thought about her painful pleads.\par His pace was slow as he thought. The activity in the O.R. went unnoticed as he dreamed carelessly about his wife. and there it was. The phone that he would use to Call Charles Logan. I Was there that he would see his own blood. \par It was perfect for Gordon, watching from the shadows. He was watching for his moment. He was watching for Thomas to be alone. That\rquote s when he will strike. When he\rquote s alone. He crept to the office door where he had seen Thomas disappear. Putting his ear softly against the door, He could hear the Mayor talking his one sided conversation. \ldblquote Yes sir, The package will be delivered safely.\rdblquote And with that he heard the clicking of the phone hanging up. Gordon knew it was his time. With a sudden thrust, The Door flew open, taking Thomas by surprise. He stood there in his wrinkled white suite staring at Gordon with his mouth dropped open. Gordon was standing there with his Police issued .45 pointing directly at his head. It was montage from a James bond movie. He was there cracking a smile as if he had won the game they were playing. Thomas was at a loss for words as the steel barrel caressed his skin from across the room. It was a cold stare that came from Gordon. It was the same glare that Thomas shot him just moment ago. And he was on the other end of the endless glare. In the pathway of death. It was death that took his glare from him.\par Thomas pleaded with Gordon. \ldblquote Put that gun away you dumb ass. We\rquote re on the same side.\rdblquote Firing Gordon seemed to escape his memory as he pleaded for his life. \par \ldblquote Why you silly little bastard. This isn\rquote t about sides. You fired me. Remember.\rdblquote The gun was short like his temper. \ldblquote Don\rquote t worry, I\rquote m not going to kill you just yet. You\rquote ll have plenty enough time to redeem your soul before you meet Jesus.\rdblquote He stepped closer to the desk. Closer to his next victim\par Thomas was shocked by the behavior displayed by Gordon. \ldblquote Get your hands up!!!\rdblquote the man with the gun was in charge of the conversation. \ldblquote Get your fucking hands up!\rdblquote It was an order, one that he better obey. His stare stated that!!\par Thomas did as he demanded. \par \ldblquote Now!!! Sit your fat ass down in that char!!!\rdblquote \par Again, he obeyed. Trying to defend himself with words that went overpowered by Gordon's demands. \ldblquote Shut the fuck up!!!\rdblquote\par The Gun seemed to come closer to Thomas\rquote s face as Gordon took his seat in the red chair on the other side of the mahogany desk.\par \ldblquote So!!! What are you going to do with me then?\rdblquote The Mayor asked intensely!!!\par \ldblquote Oh!!! Don\rquote t you worry about that.\rdblquote His smile threw heinous thoughts at Thomas. \ldblquote NO!!! Don\rquote t you worry about that at all!!!\rdblquote\par He laid the gun on the desk in front of him with the barrel pointed at Thomas. \ldblquote You will die, But first me must have a little talk.\rdblquote His endless stare locked Thomas to his seat. \ldblquote First. I want the safe combination number. \{It was to the Safe that all the extra cash from church meetings was stashed in.\} \par And then I want to know what made you think that you can fire me and get away with it. Don\rquote t you know that your playing a game of survival, and I'm the fittest of us both, You know who is going to win this game. Don\rquote t you? Or are you just plain ole stupid.\rdblquote Gordon rhetorically asked.\par \ldblquote Put your hands on the desk.\rdblquote Gordon prompted another command. \par Thomas did with his face telling on his fears of death.\par If you try to reach for that gun, well, then, you must be plain stupid. He glanced at the silvery barrel pointing at Thomas. \ldblquote Go ahead and try!!!\rdblquote His hand ready for the slightest move from Thomas. \par Thomas\rquote s hands were frail and wrinkled with age. They trembled as the rested in front of the silver gun on the desk. \ldblquote Now!!! Tell me the safe number.\rdblquote Serious was he that demanded. \par Trembling with the gun in his face, ready to shoot if one wrong word was said. \ldblquote I don\rquote t know it.\rdblquote His lie didn\rquote t show on his face but his trembling told of it.\par Quickly picking up the gun from the desk he pointed it at Thomas\rquote s face without feelings. \ldblquote You Don\rquote t know.\rdblquote He lowered the gun so that the barrel was pointing at his leg. \ldblquote Maybe this will refresh your memory.\rdblquote He pulled the trigger everso slightly and the bullet pierced the mayors knee cap. Blood started to pulse from the wound. \par Thomas was in pain when he said. \ldblquote Really, I don\rquote t know.\rdblquote\par \i A second shot will tell me what I want to know.\i0 He pointed the gun to his other knee and took the shot. \par Grabbing his wounds instinctively he said. \ldblquote Ok, I\rquote ll tell you.\rdblquote the pain took over his thoughts. \ldblquote 6-10-82-33\rdblquote His words words mumbled with throbbing pain, but Gordon managed to write it down. \par Stuffing the the paper in his blazer pocket he said. \ldblquote Good. Now tell me what you have in store for the child?\rdblquote\par Tortured with bullets and the fear of a fatal shot he told of his meeting with Charles Logan. \par \par -----------------------------------------------------------------------\par \par It was Cathy that had no problem dealing with the gore that encased the live baby. It was Cathy that wrapped the \i come back to life \i0 baby in a terry clothe towel making sure that all the blood was wiped clean. making the blood stained skin turn to milk white. \par Kerr was too stunned by the events to help Cathy with the baby. It was as if it paralyzed him. But she went unaffected by the events. Almost like she knew that it was going to happen. Like she was ready for it. Prepared.\par Michaels and Phillips where standing ready to take the baby out from Cathy. It was warranted by Gordon at \i the meeting that never took place. \i0 It was those orders issued to them at that meeting that commanded them to kill anyone that got in the way. \par \ldblquote Thank you so much Cathy\rdblquote as they retrieved the baby from her arms. \ldblquote Your deeds will not go unrewarded.\rdblquote It was Peter Gordon speaking from Phillips mouth. \par Snapping out of the trance that he was in, Kerr shouted. \ldblquote NO!!!\rdblquote He rushed the officers that held the baby. \ldblquote You can\rquote t take him anywhere.\rdblquote As he rushed, the trained officers took their his offensive position. They were told to silence the unruly. Kerr Closed in in them and Micheal extended his hand into a karate chop and \ldblquote WHAM!!!\rdblquote the force to Kerr\rquote s throat was powerful enough to crush every bone in his esophagus. \par He bent over grasping for air. Phillips Shined boot met his nose as he keeled, leaving it split open. Michaels took his kick at his Ribs. You could hear them suckers crack with the repeated force. Phillips took his club and began hitting the skull of the dying doctor. \par It was like fine porcelain busting into a million pieces as the club hit his head repeatedly. After the fourth swat, his brain became exposed. It didn\rquote t stop the Pay-Billy\rquote s form swinging their clubs though. They continued. \par \ldblquote Leave no witnesses!!\rdblquote The words were echoing in their minds as they beat the intern. \ldblquote Leave no witnesses.\rdblquote\par Cathy was shocked by the policemen's action. She didn't know that beating a man to death was a part of the plan. She was only fucking Gordon, she wasn't a member of his church. Sure, he tried to get her to join, but she thought that the church was little strange. Murder wasn\rquote t high on her priority list. She was an intelligent woman of 48, Been a nurse all of her life and with her witnessing this murdered she knew to stay silent. \i Don't go off half cocked\i0 , for if she did, she knew that she would end up like Kerr, probably worse seeing how she was a female. raped before beaten to death. Street smarts kicked in and took over her actions. It was those actions that kept her alive.\par \par -----------------------------------------------------------------------\par \par It was time for Gordon to show Mayor Thomas how much pain he really could put him in. He took a single bullet from his inside pocket. Using his pocket knife, he took the lead cap off of the shell. With the open bullet in his left hand and the gun in his right he Pointed the weapon at Thomas\rquote s forehead. \ldblquote Put your hands back on the table. He also told him to sit still. \ldblquote Very still. don\rquote t move. He set the open bullet next to the mayors hand, And then he opened the mayors hand so that the back side was facing the smoothed lacquer finished top. \ldblquote poor the powder in the palm of your hand.\rdblquote \par Using the gun to back up his words he demanded for him to keep his hand out. Fright drenched the bleeding old man with sweat.\par A quirky smiled appeared on his face as he reached into his inside pocket for cigar and his lighter. And when he lit the Cigar, He beaded his eyes towards the mayor, a smile infiltrated the Chief\rquote s lips. He watched the eyes of the mayor as he used the cigar the ignite the gunpowder. \par The Mayor jumped with the with the pain. The sweat glued the fiery powder to his flesh. The skin began to bubble and break open as it burnt, scorching the vessels on the inside of his flesh. \par It wasn't over yet though. Not by a long shot. This isn\rquote t the way that he wanted to do this \i deed\i0 . He wanted death to be done in a bloody way, one where he would die of pain. In an operating room where he would have access to all kinds of neat things. Pliers!!! Scalpels!!! Spreaders!!! Yes!!! in an operating room. That would be where he would do his \i deed\i0 !!!! He raised the butt of the gun to the screaming mayors head and took a swift swing. Knocking him unconscious. Leaving a gapping gash that exposed the skull bone. Just the first of many more injuries. \par Gordon was a strong man, strong enough to drag the hefty mayor to the place of his atrocious demise. As he moved the body with ease, his heart started to palpitate. The battering that he had just committed hit his heart. It was like remorse tried to stop him. It was like there was a good loving man beneath his malice infested mind. But he knew how to deal with it. The Marine corps taught him that. It was buried deep into his mind, like he built a closet on the dark side of his brain to store all of his deeds.\par It was his beating heart that exhausted him. It was the cholesterol glued to the sides of his arteries that caused the heart failure. But he made it to the hallway before his heart gave in. He made it to where it was certain that he would get help with his deed. \par He let go of his prey to grasp his heart as it pounded outside of his chest. It started to rain outside but it was thundering in his heart. the thunder was punishing him with pain. The greatest pain that he has ever felt. It was like there were razors slicing into his heart. And the numbness would not come. only more lacerations of the heart. The headache that caused the cells in his brain to explode with the sudden rush of oxygen depleted blood, caused suffering and blindness. he was paralyzed with agony. and the slicing continued. He was unable to move and his yells for help were in his head never to escape through his mouth. \par \par It was Cathy\rquote s first deed. She didn\rquote t know it yet but she was about to enter a world realmed around treachery and wickedness. this world was filled with hatred and deceit. It was a world that her father warned her about on his deathbed. \ldblquote No matter what you do. STAY AWAY FROM THE CHURCH!!!\rdblquote She knew what church he was talking about. she knew that he was a member. She knew that all those times that he came home from work late that he had shedded yet another soul. \par \ldblquote Ok, Mam, are you in or are you out.?\rdblquote The question was directed from Michael. It was the answer that she gave that saved her life.\par \ldblquote Yes sir!!\rdblquote her voice was trembling as she denied her fright. \par \ldblquote Good! I had instructions to kill you if you struggled.\rdblquote the look in his eyes was like a solid sheet of granite, it was a hard stare that he threw her. It was deliberate stare. It made her think about her situation. It made her cautious with her words. She was now a prisoner of her own words.\par Cathy had the baby wrapped in a garment that was laced with red embroidering designs of blooming roses. The child looked comfortable as it lay sheathed in the blanket. And it frowned with thought. It was almost like he knew of the murder. Almost as if he knew of the whole plan. The frown would remain and his cries would be constant. \par She carried the weeping baby walking behind the two officers that held her hostage, stepping over Kerr's lifeless body that was sprawled out across the green tiled floor. \par It was in the hall that the two officers saw the Chief pleading for his life. They rushed to his aid like obedient dogs. \par Cathy new the symptoms of a heart attack and she has seen Dr. Horowitz prescribe nitrogen thousands of times. She knew how to save his life. But, It was hard for to decide whether or not to get the tiny pill for her estranged lover. It was hard but her conscious wouldn\rquote t let him die. She got the pill out of the emergency room where the medicine cabinet was unlocked.\par With the baby in one hand and the pill bottle in the other she interrupted the two deputies. \ldblquote Here, Give him one of his these.\rdblquote she handed the small bottle to the servant. \par \ldblquote Go get a glass of water.\rdblquote She told Phillips, taking command of the emergency while holding the baby across her chest.\par Gordon's face was filled with pain. she felt sorry of the old bastard. besides, She kinda liked him. She could remember the fist time that hey met. It was in Rusty\rquote s Nail. The local redneck bar. He was drinking whiskey that night. It was all over him. His eyes were roaming her body she could feel the heat form his glare. And then a man, walked into her grabbing her ass as he walked by. She turned to slap him and when she swung her belted her right in the eye. Gordon leaped from his chair and commenced to pounding on him. She could remember when the police drug him off; they beat him as the put him in the back seat of the cruiser. The man was a drifter. The man was never heard from again. \par Those were the memories that flooded her thought as she seen her lover dying in pain. It was those memories that kept her clenching him with her eyes. She reached out to him to let him know that he would be ok. \par It wasn\rquote t too long before Phillips returned with the glass. He took the baby from her as he handed off the glass. \par She kneeled down to give him a tablet with the water. \ldblquote Don\rquote t worry honey. Every thing will be ok. Take this and you\rquote ll be just fine.\rdblquote She hoped that they got to him on time. But her words were soothing to Gordon, Enabling him to take a little more pain. Enabling him to hold on until the pill kicked in. Enabling him to save his own life.\par It was Cathy that Gordon owed a debt of gratitude to. \par It was fifteen minutes before the slicing ceased. Before he could get on his feet. It was fifteen minutes before he made his threats to Thomas come about. \ldblquote Take him to the O.R.\rdblquote He ordered his faithful servants.\line \tab They followed his order and took Thomas to the O.R.\par \ldblquote Now listen to me carefully Cathy!! I want you to take the baby to my house and stay there until I get home. Don\rquote t answer the phone or the door for any reason, and take the back way out, away from all of the newsies. Don\rquote t let anyone see you with the child. That is very important. No-one. If we\rquote re going to get you a child, you can\rquote t let anyone know what we are doing.\rdblquote He grasped her like he was her father. His touch was that of a husband. His measures were that of a madman. Silent Lucidity!!! \par It was the way that she said it that made Gordon fall into her pleading pit of deceit. She learned the glare from her father. With out realizing it she was transformed into this devilish essence, tainted by preverbal lies. It was her Father that prepared her for this day.\par She was sixteen when her cancer struck. It hit her in the ovaries taking any chance of motherhood away form her. She was one of the lucky ones though, surviving the treacherous Chemo therapy.\{It was just being developed a the time.\} It took her fifteen years but she made. she was tough enough to put up with the pain then. and she is tough enough to deal with this mess she\rquote s gotten herself into now.\par Have you ever gotten that feeling that something horrid was about to happen? Cathy felt it. She felt the prick of deaths touch lurking around the corner. It was there all right. It was there when Michael and Phillip beat Dr. Kerr to death and it\rquote s here again. Only this time it was the mayor. She felt it slap her in the face. She didn\rquote t need to wait for the morning paper read about it. It was with her right now. Embellishing her.\par Despite all of her feelings, she did as her lover quoted!!!\par Molten lava ran through Gordon\rquote s veins as he began his torture. Lying in the same sheets that the Mary\rquote s gore was spread, Thomas slowly came to life. His first glimpse was the corpse sprawled on the floor beneath him. It looked as if it were carelessly thrown there. Blood trickled from the soaked sheets that his arm rested on. The Splitting head ache told him that he should panic. and he did. It was whimpers that he made. it was like he could move his jaw to talk. and then the pain came over his face like a tidal wave crashes over rocky shores. And the jagged edge of the shores where cutting into his bones. It was soon that he realized that he couldn\rquote t move his jaw. How could he when it was broken. \par His jaw was the first bone that Gordon wanted to break. It was the unwanted shouting and the pleads that broke his jaw first. Gordon had the old man strapped in like he was a mental patient at the Looney farm. His arms were tight against his sides and his legs where firmly secured buy thick leather straps. Gordon was hovering over him like a madd Doctor in cowboy clothes. He was coming towards him with a scalpel in his hand. \ldblquote I waited for you to wake up so you can feel every scrape of that you put me through for the last twenty years.\rdblquote\par Thomas thought it was one big horrifying nightmare but that cut was deep. He could feel the shiny steel scraping his chest plate, like he was digging for something, using the scalpel as the spade. He gained his strength for one short moment and was able to get out a squeamish struggle but the straps held him down. \par Gordon was playing God this time. He went from the gapping wound on his chest to his face. He started to shave his nose with the scalpel. Little slivers of flesh was flying about the bed and blood poured from the shaven nose. He was delirious with pain. \ldblquote I had always thought your nose was a little big for your face.\rdblquote Harsh laughs came from the deranged cop as he continued his ploy.\par There wasn\rquote t a soul to be seen accept for Gordon. It would be his murderers face that will be his final sight. Laughing as he clung to life with pain. \par Gordon stood up from his sculpting. \ldblquote There!!! Now you look normal.\rdblquote His sinister laugh was followed by him taking his belt from his jeans. Putting the two ends together, he stared into the eyes of his victim. It was there that he found it ok to be vindictive to his boss. And as he stared he reached the belt around his neck. The torture was massive as he tightened the belt. And his face turned red with lack of oxygen. He tried to struggle but that exhausted him. And his eyes turned blood red he started to cry tears of blood.\par Gordon released the belt. \ldblquote No!!! Not yet!!! I\rquote m not through with you yet. And he kissed the fore head of Thomas. A gentle kiss it was. And the staring began as he put the shiny steel blade against the eyelid. He slid the razor across the thin layer of skin, severing it. And he held the skin so Thomas could see it. He then cut around the eye with the knife cutting the ball out of his socket. \par The light was half gone, along with his life. the pain was at it\rquote s fullest and there was nothing that he could do about it. Strapped like some common criminal being strolled to the electric chair. Electricity would be a humane death compared to what Gordon is putting him through. Electricity would be a welcome death. \par Gordon blinded the one eye but left the other alone. he wanted him to she his penis being cut open. long ways like you would cut a slit for butter on a loaf of bread. The blood didn\rquote t bother him so much; he couldn't let it bother him, not in this business. It was the pain of cracked ribs and the pain of his eye being cut out and the pain of his penis splitting in two. And then. It was a clean swipe of the knife that cut the ball sack clean off. Thomas knew what it was as Gordon stuffed the sack into his mouth. He could taste his own blood from his severed part. And Gordon gave a direct order to him. \ldblquote Start chewing.\rdblquote A laugh followed. Gordon put his hand on his jaw and started to move it about. Suddenly the pain from his missing ball sack didn\rquote t seem to hurt any more. What hurt was the scrunching sound his broken jaw bones Scraping together. Like the were grinding into each other, Pulverizing each other. cutting into his flesh.\par The taste of bone dust tingled his buds. and the blood was the overpowering sauce with the meaty meal. It would be his last meal.\par Gordon was taking out all of his frustrations on Thomas. It wasn\rquote t apart of his plan, but he thought \ldblquote\i why not, I was promised the position of mayor years ago. It\rquote s my turn to serve now.\i0 Gordon smiled discretely to himself and took his gun from it\rquote s holster, He lightly banged the butt of the revolver continually against the Mayors mouth. Knocking his teeth loose and eventually clean out. After he practiced the brutal dentistry he pulled the tongue out of his mouth. Using the scalpel for the last time this evening he raised the sharpened blade to the mayors tongue. Sliding it across the organ, he separated it from his mouth. He placed the tongue and knife into his pocket. \par Gordon was on a time limit and Peggy was late. The hour must come regardless. It was his duty to put his vengeance on hold while he located his daughter. She was the main ingredient to his deed. It was a deadly mixture of revenge and demonic hatred in vast per portions.\par He left his pile of suffering to look for his progeny. It was his first priority. \i Too Find the detonator. \i0 It was his \i war-card\i0 . It was the nights objective. It was how he was going to get away with the murder of his superior.\par The way that he left the room put the dying man at ease. It was a farewell walk, letting the old man know that he was leaving for good. \i I could try to escape.\par \i0\par Gordon stepped into the hall for his search and that is where he seen his daughter, She was perched against the wall with Michael and Phillips groping her. Phillips behind her with his naked body firm against hers. and Michael was pounding his midsection in to her. She was whining with lust. From where Gordon was standing he could see the lace panties that he gave her for her birthday last month around her ankles. \par His anger inflated. \ldblquote What the hell are you doing?\rdblquote His rush was mighty and his madness filled his sight. The color he saw was of the Styx river, bubbling with molten magma. His nostrils flared with disgust. \ldblquote Don\rquote t you know that we have a time schedule her? Who\rquote s idea was this?\rdblquote He looked sharply at his offspring. \ldblquote Was this your doing?\rdblquote His accusations where harsh as he stabbed her with his looks. \ldblquote I oughta kill you!!!\rdblquote and then he pointed his stare at Michael. \ldblquote I told you to wait outside. I dare you to disobey me.\rdblquote With that he took his hunting knife from it\rquote s sheath and took a plunge at the 32 year old pay-billy. \par The knife went in with ease, piercing his throat. And blood spattered across Peggy's face. She could taste the salty fluid that her father had spilt. And another stab would come. Leaving Michaels gurgling for air. \par Michael collapsed atop of Peggy with the wounds and blood soaked her white uniform. She could see the pain that her father left on his face as his eyes closed for the last time.\par \ldblquote Come on!!!\rdblquote Grabbing her by the ear like some deranged Italian mother disciplining her child, he dragged her towards the O.R.. Phillips had no hesitation in following. He knew that Gordon wanted to his father. Every year he would throw Phillips a giant party for his birthday. He was the only one in the force that Gordon did that for. He thought highly of Phillips. That\rquote s he didn\rquote t scold him like he did Micheals. It was almost like he didn\rquote t see Phillips gang banging his daughter. \par \ldblquote Did you even set the charges?\rdblquote As he battered her with his interrogation, he grappled the lobe of her ear with such force that the crease started to tear. The blood trickled across his already bloody fingers.\rdblquote Not quite making it to the O.R., Gordon threw her to the floor, ripping her skirt from her body. He started to undo his belt as he frowned with disappointment. \ldblquote I told you that you were an accident, all that you\rquote re good for is a good fucking. You can\rquote t do anything else. You can\rquote t even do as I ask without doing what ever it is that you want to do. Well since you want to fuck so bad, why don\lquote t you just lay there for a few minutes.\rdblquote Phillips watched the chief of police take the missionary position on top of his own daughter. It was a sight that he would\rquote ve rather not seen, \i but I\rquote ve seen worse, I\rquote ve done worse. \i0 He thought as he watched the older man fill Peggy\rquote s vagina with his penis. After a few thrusts of the waist He pulled the gun form his holster. Gripping Peggys ass cheeks with one hand he pulled her ass apart and with the other hand, he shoved the gun barrel in.\par He started pumping her body with his, even harder, and then. Phillips barely heard it. It was muffled, the bang was. And then he saw the blood rushing from her skull. She laid there with a look of a rape victim on her face. Her eyes where emotionless and her frown was stiff. Then her life was no more. \par Phillips had seen Gordon take so many lives before, he couldn\rquote t understand why this loss of life took him by surprise. He knew that Gordon had it in for his daughter, but to actually kill his own flesh and blood. \i What kinda monster was he serving under?\i0\par Gordon took the knapsack from Peggy and reached in to the pouch. That is where he had instructed his spawn to stash the black box that would put this whole night behind him. \par Running towards the entrance with he box in his hands, he pressed the red button that ignited the explosives. He then put the box back into the knapsack throwing the backpack into the hallway as left the building. He wanted it to look as if he barely escaped with his life. It was set up so that as the building exploded, he would descend from the fiery explosion, He knew that he had only a fraction of a second to get his ass out.\par When Cindy awoke from her nausea induced nap, she could smell the chemicals that filled the hallways. The auroma plumed from every direction. The dinky Break room was a pillar of smoke, and her breathing was a sack of coals. when the smoke reached her throat, it seemed to ignite. Closing the walls of her esophagus. Smothering her. Suffocating her. \par She tore her Bleached white blouse from her chest and used it as a filter to screen out the tainted air. The smoke nestled against her skin as the second blast come. The rumbling building began to shake with such dynamics that he the Ceiling started to crumble around her. The chance to escape was far off in the smoke filled distance. Her chance of reviving her life was out there somewhere, but she would not find it. In place of her escape route was the mangled mess of the second floor. and then a steel beam collapsed atop of her, pinning her to floor, Crushing both legs as they scrunched her. She was unable to move as the fiery blaze came her way. It was the floor that contained oxygen for her final breath. it was the floor that she laid upon that would be her death-bed. It was the floor that kept her alive long enough to feel the fire touch her skin. The floor helped the fiery blaze spread upon her body. She could smell the flesh as it burned in the inferno. she could feel the touch of fire dancing on her flesh. It was the pain that made her nauseas this time. It was her burning flesh blistering with the heat that caused her to throw up. And the vile fluid seeped from her lips, boiling with the surrounding fire. and the boiling puke gathered about her head. She could feel her freshly cut hair singing with the fire. amd the boiling vomit scortched her face. she could feel her brain starting to cook. the inferno was all around her. She was the fuel for the inferno. She was the inferno. \par In the O.R., mayor Thomas felt the explosion. he retreated from his sins and said a silent prayer to Jesus. \i Oh lord, Please forgive me for my sins. I now know that I was on the wrong side. I hope that you can find it in your heart to forgive an undeserving soul. \i0 As he made his peace with God, A second blast shook the building again. causing an earthquake to rummble through the O.R.. The table that Thomas was on started to vibrate violently. It teetere on it\rquote s wheels and with the thrust of Thomas shifting his weight, The Table tilted to the floor. The bed were he was strapped in was facing the dead woman. He managed to free his arm and he pulled the body over his. Using Mary as a sheild form the third blast. And steel beam fell from the cieling. The bed acted as a stilt as it held the beam over Thomas\rquote s body. \par Gordon was outside the hospital when the third blast came. He was making his escape. He was a silhouette from the blazing building. he left his past behind to burn with the building.. Phillips tried to escape with him but Gordon left him behind to be crushed with the blast. And he was crushed. He was almost at the entrance when the steel beam came crashing down on him, Landing across his throat. cutting into his neck bone and with the weight severing his head. His missed escape was the last thing that he saw. \par It was just as Gordon wanted. It was just as Gordon Planned. \par No witnesses. No crime.\par \par \par \par \par \par \par \par \pard\fs32\par }
