After the students were seated, Professor Rose entered the room.
"Good morning, class. Today we will be talking about the third and last Airt in the Eight-fold Wheel Layout. Everyone open your books to Chapter 39."
The professor waited until everyone had their books opened.
She turned to the board in front of the classroom and waved her wand. A drawing appeared.
"This is what the third Airt wheel looks like. As you can see, it is similar to the other two wheels we have talked about in our two previous lessons. This airt, unlike the others, does not have a particular name. It is referred to only by what it corresponds to. Can anyone tell me what it corresponds to?"
The Professor looked around the room, "Annelicca?"
The young Gryffindor nodded then replied proudly, "It corresponds to Relationships".
"Very good, Annelicca!", the professor smiled, "Five points to Gryffindor."
Rose paused as she heard giggling coming from the back of the classroom, "GIRLS! Nancy and Mandy, ten points from Slytherin and stay after class for detention!" Rose glared at them.
Both girls turned red as they mumbled, "Yes, Professor".
"Now, where was I?", Rose continued, "This third wheel is special among the three wheels because it transcends the other two wheels as it relates to relationships with other people. Where the first Airt wheel is concerned with the outer world, the second deals with the inner world, this wheel combines both inner and outer worlds. Most of the runes in this wheel have a double meaning involving both concepts. Can anyone name the eight runes in this wheel and tell me their meanings?"
At the sight of eager hands, Rose picked Maddy of Hufflepuff. "May I use the drawing on the board?", Maddy asked.
At Professor Rose's nod, Maddy approached the drawing of the wheel on the board. Pointing at each rune, she explained,
"Tiwaz - Creative energies in the martial sense; where your strengths lie; where to direct your energies in taking initiatives; honor and justice, leadership and authority.
Berkana - Fertility; birth' rebirth; growth; maternity; family life; feminine mysteries.
Ehwaz - Adaptability; relationships with others; joint efforts; cooperation.
Mannaz - People at large; attitude toward others; other people's attitudes towards you; legal matters, friends and enemies; intellect.
Laguz - Emotions; stability; imagination; psychic matters; affections.
Ingwaz - Integration; gestation; expectations; progeny.
Dagaz - Transmission; opposites; position between light and darkness; initiation; balance between the worlds outside time and space; cosmic consciousness; change from one thing into its opposite; new beginnings.
Othala - Home life; country; spiritual heritage; experience; foundation; fundamental values; establishing."
"Excellent, Maddy", Rose smiled, "Five points to Gryffindor. You may return to your seat."
"Can anyone tell me what Aett these runes are from?", Rose asked as she looked around the room, Laura Lou?"
"Yes, Professor", Laura Lou smiled as she put her arm down, "The runes on this wheel are from the Airt or AEtt of Tyr."
"Very good, Laura Lou", Rose smiled, "Five points to Gyffindor."
All too soon the bell rang. With a wave of her wand, Professor Rose gave the students their homework parchments.
The students gathered their belongings and proceeded to their next class. The two Slytherin girls Nancy and Mandy reported to the Professor for their detention before going to their next class.
