LESSON 38

Airts and the Eight-fold Wheel Layout - Second Airt

The students entered the room and took their seats. Maddy of Hufflepuff handed Professor Rose her detention assignment. After everyone was seated, Professor Rose asked everyone to open their textbooks to chapter 38. Everyone had out their notetaking supplies; quill and parchment paper.

After Rose looked around to be sure everyone was paying attention, she began the lesson. "Today we are talking about the Second Airt or AEtt of the Eight-Fold wheel. It is similar to the first part, the first Airt of the Eight-Fold Wheel we talked about in Lesson 37. Can anyone tell me what this second Airt is called?"
Rose looked around the room and picked Maddy of Hufflepuff, "Maddy?"
"Yes, Professor", Maddy replied, "It is called the Airt or AEtt of Hagalaz".
"That is correct, Maddy", Rose smiled, "Five points to Hufflepuff. Here is what the second Airt wheel looks like". The professor waved her wand and this picture appeared on the board:

"Can anyone tell me what this wheel corresponds to? That is, what matters it corresponds to?" Rose looked around the room and called on Annelicca of Gryffindor.
"It corresponds to Psychological Conditions. The emotional matters and psychological conditions present within the individual", Annelicca answered proudly.
"Very good, Annelicca. Five points to Gryffindor", Rose smiled, "This wheel is read like the first wheel in the last lesson.

"Annelicca, would you come up here to the wheel and point out what the runes are on it as well as their meanings?"
Annelicca came up to the board and pointing at the wheel indicated which each rune was and what it meant, "Hagalaz: It is the uncontrolled forces in the unconscious, which are usually of a disruptive nature and which usually originate in the past.
Nauthiz: It is the restrictive forces in the unconscious; fears, anxieties; feelings of guilt.
Isa: It is blocks; grievances; anything that the individual is not prepared to let go of; the formation of the personality; conditioning."
Jera: It is hopes and expectations; turning points; gradual changes; results of earlier actions.
Eihwaz: It is the driving forces in the unconscious; motivation; sense of purpose.
Perth: It is the deepest creative part of the unconscious; the hidden realm of higher material that is waiting to come to fruition and birth; hidden talents; occult or psychic abilities.
Algiz: It is the strong protective side in the unconscious; the influence which will protect you; religious aspirations.
Sowilo: It is the position of the higher self in relations to the unconscious; the direction in which you will be guided by the higher self; the ability to establish contact between the higher self and the unconscious."

"Excellent, Annelicca", Rose smiled, "Five points to Gryffindor".
A happy Annelicca returned to her seat.

All too soon the bell rang. With a wave of her wand, Professor Rose gave the students their homework parchments.

The students gathered their belongings and proceeded to their next class. Rose smiled as the students had behaved themselves today.
