As the students entered the Ancient Runes classroom, they noticed the desks were arranged in a large circle. In the center of the circle was a large white cloth and the professor. The professor held a bag of runes in her hands. Written on the board at the front of the classroom were the words Random-Dump Runecasting. A few of the students giggled as they noticed this.
"Everyone please take a seat and get out your runebags", Professor Rose smiled as the students took their seats in the circle,"You'll also want to take some notes at the beginning of this lesson".
After everyone was seated, Professor Rose handed out everyone's Quiz parchments, "You all did well on the Quizzes. Please put them away in your bookbags as we are starting on our next lesson. Even though this method is covered in your textbooks in Chapter 31, we won't be needing it today. Just take out your notetaking materials".
The students did as they were instructed and Professor Rose began the lesson.
"Today we will be learning another Simple Runecasting method called Random-Dump Runecasting. This method is pretty much how it sounds. If everyone would observe the white cloth in the center of the circle, I will demonstrate how this method is done".
The professor went inside the circle of desks and sat down on the large white cloth as she held her runebag. "First, we have our white cloth. Next, we concentrate on a question as we place our hand inside and stir the runes a bit. Now we pick up a handful of runes". The students watched closely as the professor brought a handful of runestones from her bag and tossed them onto the white cloth. "We toss them onto the white cloth. As you can see, some of the runes have landed face down and some have landed with the runes showing. Can anyone tell me what we do next?" Hands waved eagerly, then Rose picked an eager Gryffindor.
"You would ignore the runes that landed face down and only read the ones with the runes showing", said Laura Lou confidently.
"That is correct, Laura Lou", Professor Rose smiled, "Five points to Gryffindor! Now, can anyone tell me how to do a reading? Nancy?"
"Well, as we learned in a previous lesson, the meaning of the runes would depend on whether they were right side up or if they could be reversed", the Slytherin girl explained, "Since there are some visible runes, the combination of visible runes would affect the interpretation".
"Very good, Nancy!", the Professor smiled, "Five points to Slytherin. To add to that, sometimes the answer to your question is clear. Sometimes it is not clear."
The professor placed her runes back into her runebag, then said to the class, "For the last few minutes, I would like everyone to take a place here in the circle and practice doing Random-Dump Casting. I'd like everyone to work quietly".
Everyone took a place inside the circle of desks on the white cloth and practiced while the professor walked around them and observed. She watched as the various students casted out runes of various types and colors. There were wooden runes and handcarved stoned runes of various colors with carved symbols on them.
All too soon it was time for the lesson to end and some students reluctantly put away their runestones and packed their belongings. They were enjoying the practice portion of their lesson and hated to see it end.
"Be sure to do your homework and bring it with you to the next class. Class dismissed", Professor Rose smiled as each student picked up their homework as they exited the classroom and went on to their next class.

The runes are read randomly. (I accepted all answers along this line.)
4. Describe how you would do this method of Runecasting. (5 hp)
First, we set out our white cloth on the ground. Next, we concentrate on a question as we place our hand inside and stir the runes a bit. We pick up a handful of runes. We toss them onto the white cloth. Some will land face down and some will land with the runes showing. Ignoring the runes that landed face down, we would read on the ones with the rune symbols showing.
EXTRA CREDIT: (This question is optional) For an extra 10 hp, choose one of the following: (Be creative and have fun. :) ) 1. Write a short story of you doing a runecasting using this method. Or 2. Describe what you like and don't like about this method of runecasting.
