LESSON 29

INTRODUCTION TO RUNE CASTING

Professor Rose smiled as she watched the students enter the classroom and prepare themselves for class; their textbooks opened, inkwells, parchment, and quills ready. After everyone had settled in their seats, she faced the class, "Hello and good morning Class. You all did well on Lesson 28. Now, today we will be starting on the Runecasting unit with today's lesson on the introduction of runecasting. Today we will be going over a few things involved with Runecasting. To start with, runecasting is not like fortunetelling. Can anyone tell me why?"

Professor Rose glanced around the room at the upraising of hands, then called on an eager Gryffindor girl who had been busily taking notes and reading her opened textbook, "Vicky?"

The young Gryffindor shyly answered, "Runecasting works in your subconcious and concious mind. When a question is posed to the runes, the concious/subconcious mind focuses on the question so the rune or runes drawn are not random. The choices are made by the subconcious mind. The runecaster does not see into the future".

"Very good, Vicky!", Professor Rose smiled, "Five points to Gryffindor. Someone has been doing their reading".
The professor continued, "During a rune reading, a particular issue is addressed. It's past, present, and future is examined as well as the question, 'what will happen?' is asked. It's an evaluation process done by the mind, not fortune telling. The rune or runes show what direction you're headed - which is changeable".
The professor looked around at some confused expressions, "I know it all sounds confusing at this point. After we have done some runecasting, it will make sense eventually".

Rose smiled as she contined, "Now, there are various methods of runecasting. Some are simple. Some are complicated. Can anyone tell me what the five ways of Simple Runecasting are?"

She noticed a hand go up tentatively from a Slytherin girl in the back, "Fiona?"

"Yes, Professor", Fiona of Slytherin replied as she read from her textbook, "The five ways of Simple Runecasting are a.) One Rune, b.) Random dump, c.) Casting the Norns, d.) Nine-Runes Cast, e.)Casting on the Ground".

"That is correct, Fiona!", Rose grinned at the girl from her house, "Five points to Slytherin. Would you like to tell us what the five complex ways of Runecasting are?"

Fiona read the next paragraph in her textbook as she responded, "The five complex ways of Runecasting are a.)Five-Rune Layout, b.) Seven-Rune Layout,
c.) Futhark Layout, d.) Eight-Fold Wheel, e.) Worldstead Layout".

"Very good, Fiona", Rose grinned, "Another five points to Slytherin".

Fiona grinned broadly.

"We will be learning more about all of the five Simple and five Complex ways of runecasting in future lessons", Professor Rose continued, "That is all for today, please be sure to do your homework and to bring it in to the next class. Be sure to bring your runes to the next class. Class dismissed".

The students gathered their belongings and went on to their next class.

Featured in this lesson were Jojorules2618 (Fiona) of Slytherin and Dragon_Soarer12 (Vicky) of Gryffindor who had requested to be featured in the lessons.

If you would like to be in a future lesson neomail me with the name you wish me to call you in class and how you would act in my class. Also, if you would like to be in more than one lesson let me know that as well. Thank you.

If you have recently submitted your request to be in a future lesson, but haven't seen yourself yet, you'll be in the next lesson.
