![]() "Hello and good morning Class", Professor Rose smiled as the students took their seats and got out their supplies for class, "You all did well on your Quizzes, though there weren't too many of them". The professor waved her wand and the students' marked Quizzes appeared on their desks. "Would everyone turn to Chapter 28 in their textbooks please?" After noting everyone had turned to the correct place in their textbook, the Professor continued, "Today we will be learning about the blank rune. Now this rune is not included with the other twenty-four in the Futhark because it is not seen as an official rune. This rune was not invented with the other runes in ancient times, but invented by a muggle known as Ralph Bum in the 1980's. This rune is known by two names. Can anyone tell me what they are?" The professor called on a young Gryffindor girl who eagerly raised her hand, "Jaskamal?" "Yes, Professor Rose", Jaskamal replied confidently, "The so-called blank rune is also known by two other names; the Wyrd rune and the Odin rune". "Very good, Jaskamal!", Rose smiled, "Five points to Gryffindor. Now can anyone tell me why this rune is not used by runecasters?" "Susie?", she called on a young Slytherin who seemed half asleep. Susie blinked, "Huh?" "Okay, Susie, report for detention after class for not paying attention", Professor Rose said angrily, "plus five points will be deducted from Slytherin". "Yes, ma'am", Susie said embarrassed. The professor again picked the eager Jaskamal, "The blank rune is not used for casting today because there is no historical support as it having had existed. Runes are symbols. There is no such thing as a blank symbol. Runic writing has never had blank runes even though it has changed over the years. The blank rune was invented by the muggle who had no knowledge on the history of runes". "Very good, Jaskamal", Rose smiled, "Another five points to Gryffindor. Can anyone tell me what someone should do with a blank rune if they find one in their set?". The professor looked around the room at the raised hands and picked a Slytherin boy who did not have his hand raised. "Burn it?", asked Brent a Slytherin boy with a mischievious tone. Rose smiled slightly, "Although some would like to do that, no, that is not correct. Anyone else?" She picked a young Hufflepuff. Kelly glanced at her textbook before answering, "You can use the blank rune for replacing one of your runes if you lose one". "Very good,Kelly", Rose smiled, "Five points to Hufflepuff". Professor Rose glanced at the clock. "That is all for today, class", Rose smiled, "Be sure to do your homework and to bring it in to the next class. Class dismissed". The students gathered their belongings and went on to their next class, except for Susie of Slytherin who reported to Professor Rose for her detention.
