"Good morning, everyone", Professor Rose smiled after everyone had seated themselves and had prepared for class,"Today we will be learning about another rune. This rune is special because it is the last rune of this Futhark we have been studying since the beginning of this class".
Rose paused a moment to allow the students to finish their notes, "We will be starting on learning about Futharks in our next lesson. Now would everyone turn to chapter 25 please".
As the students paged through their books, Professor Rose made another rune appear on the board:
"This rune is called Othila", Rose smiled at the class, "Who can tell me something about this rune?"
Rose looked around at several Ravenclaw and Gryffindor hands, but pointed to a Hufflepuff girl near the center of the room, "Jane?"
"Well, it can be reversed and it stands for the letter O", Jane replied confidently.
"Very good, Jane!", Rose smiled, "Five points to Hufflepuff.
Now, who can tell me what the Othila rune means?"
Rose looked around at the raised hands, then pointed to the eager Gyffindor Laura Lou, "Laura Lou, what can you tell me about the meaning of this rune?"
Laura Lou glanced at her textbook and notes for a moment, then answered confidently, "This rune has several meanings. It means Inheritance or the passing on of property or knowledge. One's native land, ancestral home. What is truly important to you. Land of birth, spritual heritage, experience, and fundamental values. Aid in physical and spiritual journeys. Source of safety, increase, abundance. Reversed this rune means slavery, lack of customary order, totalitarianism, homelessness, poverty. Bad Karma,prejudice. What a man is bound to".
"Very good, Laura Lou!", Professor Rose grinned, "Five points to Gryffindor!"
"That is all for today", Rose smiled, "Laura Lou, would you pass out the homework parchments to everyone please?"
As Laura Lou passed out the homework, Professor Rose said, "Be sure to do your homework and to bring in to the next class. Class dismissed".
The students gathered their belongings and went on to their next class.
