![]() Professor Rose rushed into her Ancient Runes classroom as she carried her portfolio full of the students' test parchments. "Good morning, class", Rose smiled as she went to her desk at the front of the classroom and removed the test parchments from her portfolio, "I have your corrected test parchments here for you. You all did well on the test". She smiled as she heard a lot of ooohs and ahhhs as the students received their test marks. Professor Rose turned toward the board as the students got out their Ancient Runes textbooks and parchment paper to take notes. After a slight flick of her wrist, a rune appeared on the board: ![]() "Can anyone tell me what the name of this rune is and what it looks like?", Professor Rose asked as she glanced around the room. Some students glanced down at their textbooks, but a few hands went up immediately. "Tom?", she asked a young Gryffindor. "It is the Laguz rune and it looks like an upside-down capital letter L", Tom replied proudly. "That is correct, Tom", Rose smiled, "Five points to Gryffindor!" She glanced around the classroom and noticed a Hufflepuff girl named Neomaine in the back shooting spitballs at the Slytherin boy in front of her. "Can anyone tell me what letter or letters this rune represents?", Rose asked as many hands went up. "Neomaine, what letter would this letter represent?", Rose's voice boomed. The young Hufflepuff girl looked at the professor nervously and glanced down at her textbook before she answered, "It represents the letter L". "That is correct, Neomaine", Rose replied sternly, "However, Hufflepuff gets five points removed due to your behavior in class today. Stop shooting those spitballs and pay attention. You will also stay after class for detention." "Yes, Professor Rose", Neomaine replied embarrassed at being caught misbehaving. "Now, can anyone tell me if this rune can be reversed and the meaning of this rune?", Rose asked the class. Rose called on an eager Gryffindor girl who had been taking notes since class began. "Hermione?" "This rune can be reversed", Hermione replied, "It has several meanings. It is a powerful spiritual rune. Life energy. Your creative potential and imagination are at the most powerful and rewarding. Healing power and renewal. Reversed it means there is indication of a period of confusion. You may make wrong decisions and have poor judgement. Lack of creativity. You feel like you're in a rut. Fear, avoidance, withering. Madness, obsession. Despair, sickness." "Very good, Hermione!", Rose smiled, "Five points to Gryffindor!" "That will be all for today's lesson", Rose explained, "Be sure to do your homework and to bring in to the next class", Professor Rose smiled as homework parchments appeared on the students' desks, "Class dismissed. Neomaine, please come to my desk for your detention".
