![]() As Professor Rose entered the Ancient Runes classroom, the room was full of students. She smiled and greeted the new students who had joined the class recently. Everyone had their Ancient Runes textbooks on their desks opened to the proper page. "Good morning, class", Rose smiled as she waved her wand at the board. A rune appeared: ![]() "Today we will be learning about the rune called Berkana", Rose explained as she pointed at the rune on the board, "As you can see, it kind of looks like the letter B". She smiled as she heard uh-huhs and a few giggles. "This will help you to remember the rune is called, Berkana". Rose smiled as she gazed around the room, "Can anyone tell me what letter or letters this rune stands for?" A tentative hand went up from a shy Hufflepuff girl on the right side of the classroom. "Yes, Ardal?", Rose smiled as she called on the girl. "It stands for the letter B", Ardal answered confidently. "That is correct! Five points to Hufflepuff", Rose smiled, "Can it be reversed, Ardal?" The young Hufflepuff looked down at the page about the Berkana rune in her textbook, then looked shyly around the room at the faces who stared at her as they awaited her response to Professor Rose's question. "Yes, it can be reversed", Ardal answered confidently. "Very good, Ardal! Five points to Hufflepuff!", Professor Rose grinned. She turned back to the rest of the class. "Can anyone tell me something else about the Berkana rune?", she asked as she looked around at the class. Many students raised their hands, except for a few Slytherins in the back of the classroom who were more into their own conversation than the lesson. Rose frowned at them as she called on an eager Ravenclaw girl. "Yes, Soleil?", Rose asked as she called on the young Ravenclaw, "What can you tell me about this rune?" "The Berkana rune has many meanings", Soleil explained, "It means birth, rebirth, renewal. New ideas and creativeness. Reversed it means passivity, self deception, carelessness". Slight giggles could be heard from the Slytherins from the back of the classroom as Soleil finished her answer. "THAT WILL BE ENOUGH FROM THE BACK OF THE CLASSROOM, LADIES!", Rose yelled at the Slytherins in the back, "You will remain after class for detention". The Slytherin girls slumped down in their seats with embarrassment. "That is correct, Soliel!", Rose smiled, "Five points to Ravenclaw". Professor Rose glanced at the clock, "Where did the time go? It is time to leave already? That is all for today. Be sure to do your homework and to bring it in to the next class", Professor Rose smiled as homework parchments appeared on the students' desks, "Class dismissed". The class gathered their belongings and left the classroom. The Slytherin girls reported to the Professor for their detention. Featured in this lesson were Thornhailwand (Soliel) and Ardal256.
