LESSON 17

PERTH

After the students had taken their seats, Professor Rose handed out their Test papers. Professor Rose returned to the front of the classroom.

"You all did well on your test", Rose smiled as she addressed the students, "However, a few of you got at least one wrong on your paper. Please look over my corrections and study them to gain understanding of the answers. I am proud of all of you".

Professor Rose turned toward the board as she waved her wand.
This rune appeared on the board:

"Can anyone tell me which rune this is?", the Professor asked. Several hands went up.
After she looked around the class a moment, she called on Laura Lou from Gryffindor.

"Is it the Perth rune?", Laura asked eagerly.

"Correct, Laura!", Rose smiled, "Five points to Gryffindor. Would anyone know something about the Perth rune?"

She pointed to a Hufflepuff girl, "Yes?"

"Um, it can be reversed. Right side up it means luck and reversed it means misfortune?", Holly responded hesitantly.

"That is correct, Holly", Rose answered, "But that is only part of what it means. The rune also means chance, hidden knowledge, and the ability to take a situation and make the best of it. Reversed Perth also means dishonesty, stagnation, dissipation."

Professor Rose looked around the classroom. "Can anyone tell me what letter or letters this rune represents?"

Several hands went up, but Professor Rose pointed to a Gryffindor girl with red hair in the back of the room who did not have her hand raised. "Brat, can you tell me what letter this rune represents?"

The redhead seemed annoyed that she was called on. She looked at her notes for a moment. "P?", Brat asked quietly.

"Yes, that is correct, Brat!", Rose smiled, "The Perth rune does stand for the letter P. Five points to Gryffindor."

"I have a staff meeting shortly so I am ending this lesson early for today", Professor Rose announced to the class. She waved her wand and homework papers appeared on the students' desks. "Here is your homework which is due two weeks from today. Class dismissed."

The students gathered their belongings and left the classroom.

*The students featured in today's lesson were hermione_watson05,lc_punk, and ghbrat_2 who had requested to be in a class lesson.
