![]() The classroom was noisy as the students talked loudly as they waited for the new professor to enter. "Okay, everyone settle down!", the professor said loudly as she entered the classroom. The students rushed to their seats as the chatter became a gradual silence. They all stared at the woman who stood at the blackboard at the front of the room. The woman wore green robes and her long blond hair was tied into a braid which ended at her lower back. The woman took out her wand and the name "Professor Rose" appeared on the board. "Good morning, class", the professor smiled as her eyes gazed over the students, "I am your new Ancient Runes professor. My name is Professor Rosejun62, but you may call me Professor Rose." Mumbles of hellos echoed from the room. "I know you all were fond of your previous professor Crysthia and were quite involved in the Elder Futhrak set of the runes", Rose explained, "To avoid putting this class into a setback I will be continuing your lessons from where Professor Crysthia left off.." Echoes of yays and aahs echoed through the room. "Professor Crysthia has also allowed me to provide you with her past lessons one through twelve to ensure nobody gets lost." Rose paused a moment as she took attendance. "Now, let's begin with our next rune". Rose waved her wand and a rune appeared on the board: ![]() "Can anybody tell me what rune this is and what letter or letters it represents?", Rose asked the class. Everyone looked through their Ancient Runes textbook. An eager Gryffindor raised her hand. "Yes, Alicia?" "Is it the Sowelu?", Alicia asked proudly. "It's similar, Alicia", Rose responded, "but I'm afraid that's incorrect." Professor Rose noticed two girls in the back giggling and chatting. "Mandy, what about you?" Rose asked as she looked at the young Slytherin sternly. Mandy swallowed nervously as she was caught chatting with her friend instead of listening to the professor, "Would it be the Eithwaz rune and represent "ei"?" Rose smiled as she replied, "Correct, Mandy! Ten points to Slytherin." She looked at Mandy evenly, "Please refrain from chatting with anybody until after class. I won't take any points from Slytherin this time. But, if I catch you talking in my class again, you will have points deducted and possibly face detention." Mandy nodded solemnly, "Yes, Professor Rose." Rose turned back to the class. "Can anyone tell me what the rune Eithwaz means?" She pointed to a Ravenclaw. "Yes, John?" "It means protection and endurance", John replied, "It cannot be reversed". "That's correct, John", Professor Rose responded, "Five points to Ravenclaw. If you casted this rune during a reading you would not only feel confident that you will be protected and have endurance, but you would also have spiritual wisdom and tranquility." Professor Rose waved her wand and parchment appeared on the students' desks, "Here is your homework on what we covered today in class. It is due at your next lesson. Class dismissed!" The students gathered their belongings and moved on to the next class. HOMEWORK: 1. Which rune did we talk about today? (4 pts) Eithwaz 2. Can this rune be reversed? (4 pts) No 3.
