This is a story I wrote featuing Gaerhars:

"An Overheard Plot"

Chapter One - A trip to the pub

It was a dank, chilly night, Gaerhars shivered to herself, 'burr, its cold' she thought. Gaerhars decided that she was anxious and cold, and being an Aisha, that was never good. She decided to take a walk to the nearest tavern in Meridell. Leaving her home, Gaerhars traveled to the pub, where the best and worst of Meridell resided.

Sitting in the small pub, Gaerhars grabbed a seat by the fogged window and sipped a steaming cup of mocha blend. It was chilly, and it seemed like the coffee warmed Gaerhars up the moment it met her lips.

Two royal Cybunnies walked, 'ughh, glided' Gaerhars corrected herself, in her head, into the tavern. These Cybunnies were as regal as they come, but, if Gaerhars may add, they looked extremely pompous. Dolled up as if every day were a ball or something! 'Now, Now, don't judge a book by its cover, not every royal pet is an Orlando Bloomaroo, who was the most pompous neopet Gaerhars had ever met! It's the hair." Gaerhars thought to herself. The royal Cybunnies crossed the room and ordered food while Gaerhars had been lost in thought.

Patrons in the restaurant had also continued their meals against the regal entrance. This didn't seem to faze the Cybunnies for they were content in the corner deep in conversation.

Gaerhars was used to people looking at her. Whenever Gaerhars walked into places, heads always turned in her direction. The faces were always filled with sadness, and pity. Gaerhars didn't want their pity! Gaerhars didn't need it! She was content with herself. "Yeah, I am!" she had accidentally spoken out loud, causing the Moehog in front of her to snort that she was crazy, only to receive a *hiss* from Gaerhars in response.

'Yeah, I am' Gaerhars could hear the sound of her own voice in her head, but Gaerhars knew it wasn't true, that voice was not filled with confidence. Stirring the foam that was slowly melting in Gaerhars's coffee, Gaerhars pondered about how 'happy' she was.

'Well, obviously I don't look happy, but…' Gaerhars was stopped in thought when the door to the tavern slammed open.

Chapter Two - Enemies Revealed

3 Darigan minions walked through the door as a soft gasp was released from the patrons.

The owner of the tavern, a small blue Shoyru gathered up some courage, not much, for it was evident on his face, and his voice when he spoke, "Can…can… I…I…I… heee…lll…..hheelllppp…help you?" The last word was forced out for the Shoyru was shaking something terrible.

"Yeah" The minion began, a Techo with fierce teeth. "We, ah, being looking forse ah, place to, eh, you know, re-laxx" the last word was emphasized with a hiss that sent chills down Gaerhars's spine.

"Yeah, weeza needa place to chill, its dinner time, and there aint no food back home, well there wazzz Jack, but, uhh, heeezz seen better dayzz" this voice came from an Aisha with a whiny voice.

'Whoa, wouldn't touch that with a ten foot poll' Gaerhars thought to herself. She was forced to hide a smile.

"He he, better days, you sure is right, Jacks seen better days. All he is now is bone" A final minion said, a Meerca. Though this Meerca looked as though it was dropped on his head, and spoke like it too. Gaerhars joked that this Meerca looked like an idiot savant, however, she couldn't possibly place what that talent could be.

"Of course he iz white az a bone, Len" the Aisha spoke in an aggravated tone, "you stuck itz in az cage, andzz diddn't feedzz itzz, then I atez whatzz wazz left!"

Kayshy prayed that "Jack" was not a neopet.

"Yousa ate my Pawkeet!" 'Len' said in an outraged tone.

"Itz wazz dead, and their aint no stinkin food in thez den anyzwayz. Princess Maur-eeeeeee-n over zeer mades sure of zat!" Sieza complained.

"Enough!" the Techo barked, "yeah, you can help us, would like some food" after a pause, "on the house" the Techo said as he and the other two goons slid into the booth behind Gaerhars, kicking it's previous occupant out.

The owner hesitated for a fraction of a second and turned into the kitchen with a look on his face that told he was about to wet him self.

Gaerhars focused her attention on the conversation Gaerhars could hear behind her. The tavern had gotten extremely quiet for fear of disturbing the 3 new patrons.

Gaerhars could head bits of the conversation, she found out that the Aisha's name was Sieza, the Meerca was Len, and the Techo was Ber'marc.

The owner of the place quickly served the food to the trio and disappeared between the counter and the kitchen. Slowly the tavern's occupants began to leave for it seems that there was not one who want to be any where near the trio. Gaerhars however stayed, "Hey, curiosity killed the cat, eh?"

"Ber'marc, whenza this eh….job?" Sieza asked.

"You shouldn't have eaten my pet" Len grumbled.

"Itz waz dead!" Sieza snapped.

"It had feelings" Len said in a low voice that Gaerhars had to strain to hear.

"Would you two stop about that bloody bird? The menace is gone, and I don't want to hear another word about it, you understand?" Ber'marc added with a menacing growl. "We have to get this job done right, and tonight, or we will have to deal with the boss, and I don't want to know who he will have to deal with."

"Whatz a, this job anywayz?" Sieza asked Ber'marc.

"We're going to raid the castle and capture the king, forcing him to sign all the land over to Lord Darigan."

"We'rez going to kidnapz a bald fat guyz? AND Babysitz him? Fun." Sieza snapped.

"It shouldn't take long, plus, the mission will keep us free of dirty work for a while, you know, the ones where we end up in jail" Ber'marc replied

"I likez the dirty work, it'z thez best part" Sieza hissed.

"If this mission is right, we can play all we want, burn, pillage, plunder, you know, the fun stuff, but this time we will have Meridell in our hands, so, we can get away with it." Ber'marc said.

"I don't like jail" Len spoke up.

"Atz leazt your roommate wazn't a psychotic Scorchio who thought szhe waz a Koi named Joanne. The nut used to wake me up when she used to cry that she couldn't breathe because she waszn't inz water! Azzzz, Never goingz back therezz again" Sieza replied.

"I like Koi's they are pretty" Len said.

"Great, then youz can go hangz with Joanne, she is probably "gasping" rightz nowz!" Sieza retorted.

Berm'marc grumbled, realized he was all out of ale, slammed down the mug on the table, alerting the owner he wanted more.

Gaerhars couldn't believe what she was hearing! A plot to steal Meridell! Gaerhars had to get to the palace and tell the guards, but would they believe her? Probably not. Gaerhars strained to hear some more.

"Len, don't eat the bone, they don't agree withza youz remember?" Sieza chortled to Len.

"Look, we are going to need some supplies if we are going to get this done, the boss wont be happy if we fail" Ber' marc told the two.

With that, the 3 got up and left the tavern.

Gaerhars thought for a moment about what she had just overheard. Those 3 were going after the king, and Meridell could be at risk….

Leaving money for the bill, Gaerhars walked outside to where the tavern was placed upon a hill by two junctures. One-way went home, the other, to where the 3 Darigan minions had traveled, which way to go?

Head home or head for certain danger?
