| POP star Darius has been constantly fending off offers of drugs since he hit the big time. Dealers assumed the Scots heart-throb would develop a taste for cocaine once he started mixing with the smart set. But they got no trade - Darius refuses to touch anything stronger than alcohol. He said: "I've been offered drugs loads of times, but I've always turned them down. Things like that just turn my stomach." Darius said he got his kicks from music. And he revealed it was adrenaline, not drugs, that kept him up for days on end when he was recording his first album, Dive In. He said: "I didn't sleep for days and didn't know how my body could physically cope. So many people would have been taking coke just to keep them going. But it's just too easy to turn to drugs. "I was awake for 48 hours but the excitement of working on my songs kept me going, not coke. "I owe it to myself and, more importantly, to my parents who've supported me throughout my whole life. "The public gave me the opportunity to show them what I'm capable of, so why abuse my body?" Darius, from Bearsden, near Glasgow, claimed he learned a lesson from Robbie Williams, who went to hell and back after abusing alcohol and drugs. He said: "He was an artist who had a Number One single and album at the same time. But he abused his body with booze and alcohol. He was on a career high but he was having a miserable time in his private life." Although he doesn't take drugs, Darius, 21, is a party animal who loves to let his hair down. His last blow-out was at a party he hosted in Glasgow. Guests included Pop Idol winner Will Young, So Solid Crew's Harvey and Sarah Whatmore, of the Sugababes. Chart-topper Darius added: "I live clean but I party dirty. "People were dancing on the tables, spraying each other with champagne. It was a riot. Loads of the guests had passed out on the floor by the end of the night." Darius said he was too busy to have a girlfriend. But he is a romantic, as he proved when he spotted a beautiful girl called Amanda on a tube train. He said: "I jumped on the train just as the doors were closing and saw this gorgeous girl who was too busy reading the newspaper to notice that the idiot sitting opposite her was completely in awe." She finally registered his interest and tapped his shoulder - sparking a relationship that lasted several months until she went travelling the world. There have been repeated rumours of a romance with Darius's flatmate Venetia Hibbert. The pair were first linked in September when it was revealed that Darius was staying at Venetia's plush London home. And she was by his side at the Nordoff- Robbins Music Therapy Tartan Clef Awards in Glasgow last month. Mirella Dell `Aquila, from the band Sugar Jones has also been linked with Darius. But he said: "I have just been far too busy working for any kind of relationship." The full Darius feature appears in this week's issue of Now magazine on sale today.
