| Idol Wild! |
| Former Pop Idol contestant Darius Danesh has entered the UK singles chart at No 1 with his debut single, Colourblind. The singer toppled Pop Idol runner up Gareth Gates from the top spot. Darius spent the day at home in Glasgow with family and friends waiting to see if he had scored his first ever No 1. 'I'm over the moon,' Darius told Radio 1 DJ Mark Goodier. 'Two years ago I did an awful cover of Britney Spears on TV and now I've entered the chart at No 1 higher than Britney's single.' Darius sold 112,000 copies of Colourblind to hit the top spot. Elsewhere on the chart, the highest new entry is for actor/rapper Will Smith with Black Suits Comin' (Nod Ya Head) taken from the soundtrack to Men In Black 2. P. Diddy and Usher enter the chart at No 4 with their duet I Need A Girl. Britney Spears enters the chart at No 7 with her new single Boys, also featured on the soundtrack to the new Austin Powers movie, Goldmember. As predicted, George Michael has failed to enter the Top 10 with his controversial, George Bush baiting new single Shoot The Dog. US R&B producers NERD enter the chart at No 15 with Rock Star. There's also a new entry for McAlmont and Butler with Fallin'at No 23 and dance act Narcotik Thrust with Safe From Harm at No 24. Thankyou to Worldpop.com for the story |
