Paint it before you put the bearings back in and you won't have to worry about them. I just used a big 'ol hard washer and tapped it in with a hammer. Once you get it started it goes in real easy. Just don't try to beat it in. One picture that didn't turn out at all was the shock mount. All I did was drill a hole in the tower the correct size for a 12mm tap, welded on centered over it a 12mm nut, and after painting ran a tap through the whole thing. The nut was about 1/16" off my desired width but amazingly close enough. The finished product.
