God's Garden;
God looked around his garden
and He found and empty place.
he then looked down upon this
Earth, and saw a tired face.
He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest
God's garden must be beautiful,
He always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering,
He knew that you were in pain,
He knew that you would never
get well on Earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough
and the hills were hard to climb.
So He closed your weary eyelids,
and whispered, "peace be thine"
It broke our hearts to lose you, but
you didn't go alone,
For part of us went with you
the day God called you Home.
(my Mother put this poem on the cards at his funeral. I think it's beautiful)

Here is the eulogy my cousin Cheri read at his funeral. It made me cry;
  "The purpose of me speaking at this service is to remember the life of Gary A. Newlon and to celebrate it.  He was a Son, a Brother, an Uncle, a Husband, a Father, a Grandfather, a Nephew, a Cousin, and a friend to many of us here. He was my Uncle, but also at times, a surrogate Father, a playmate when I was younger and a confidant when I was older.
  He taught me what unconditional love was in action. He wasn't one to necessarily speak it, but he showed it, by showing interest in what I was doing, what I was thinking, how I was feeling, and always having the time to share. He was always supportive, he would take me everywhere with him when I was little, even on dates, and to me he was my Hero.
  He taught me to waterski, to drive and how to eat bananas.
  He knew how to have fun. He loved to play games; board games, card games, Badminton and tickle games, but it was always with his Family.
  He loved his family; his Parents, his Sister, his Wife, his Daughter, his Son, his Niece, his Nephew and his new Grandson, Hayden- probably more than anyone would ever grasp.
  He was so proud of everyone and he made sure each one of us was identified to his nurses and Doctors and the hospital. He never lost his sense of humor, which was one of his greatest gifts.
  I know in my heart where my Uncle Gary now resides; in Heaven, with my Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, and cousins who have all gone on before. They are having one heck of a reunion. They all loved to laugh, tell stories and just be a family. It has to be so wonderful, but even better than that, he is with Jesus. It is for that reason and my love and affection for Him that I will not say, "Goodbye to my Uncle Gary, but rather, 'You are the Greatest', 'See ya later' and 'Save me a seat at the dinner table.'

What makes a Dad;
God took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a Summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the Eagle's flight,
The joy of a morning in Spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need,
Then God combined these qualities,
When there was nothing more to add,
He knew his masterpiece was complete,
And so..he called it, "DAD"
