I can't believe it's October already--where has the time gone?! On October 4th, I went to see Parson's Dance Company at the Weidner Center. The whole dance team went, so it was a lot of fun. We had good seats and it only cost $8.00. The dances were pretty strange though. The company is very modern- so it was nothing like the kind of stuff we do. One of the pieces was kind of funny. The dancers all had on pajamas and then all the choreography was on the floor- they just rolled around and kept their eyes closed through the entire thing. One piece was really awesome. This guy came out and did a solo wearing white pants and no shirt. At first he just danced under some spotlights, but then a strobe light started. He did toe touches, so he was on the ground when it was dark and in the air when the light was on; so he looked like he was floating. He did four of them in a row--it was so awesome. Also, he looked like he was walking on air. It was absolutely incredible. All of the dancers were very athletic and had so much endurance. The final piece was to Dave Matthews music, so that was enjoyable.
Dance team has been off to a fairly good start. We learned a really fast and difficult pom/hip hop dance. It was very hard for me, but then I finally got it. We were supposed to perform it at a soccer game, but we didn't end up performing it since it rained and rained. After that, we started working on our Midnight Mania routine. Midnight Mania is a pep rally type thing for the kick-off to the basketball season. We perform on October 14th- but as of the 10th, we still haven't finished choreographing and learning the dance. We'll be having a lot of extra practice this week I think.

Amy, Beth, Becca, and I went to see the Jim Wand Hypnotist show on October 13th. It was hilarious--it's my favorite thing that comes to campus. I laughed so hard--it's such a good time.
This year, the NCAA changed it's rules about when teams could start practicing, so they no longer had to wait for midnight. Thus, Midnight Mania became Primetime Mania and started at 8:00 instead of 10:00. This proved to be ok since Mom, Dad, and Robyn were able to drive up and see me dance, but the stands were definitely not as full as last year--and the students that were there weren't as wild. We performed a hip-hop routine to a whole mixture of songs--it started out with just some basketball bouncing and sneaker squeaking sounds, then went into "Bring 'um Out," "Breathe, Stretch, Shake," "Take it to the Floor," and a couple other songs. Lets just say that it is totally not my style of dance! We wore short black skirts with $1.50 green t-shirts from Hobby Lobby that we had just decorated that day, black arm bands, knee high socks, and tennis shoes. In all it was a very interesting dance--but it was a lot of fun too.
