November 2005
November 1st:  Tonight was the first home men's basketball game (exhibition game).  It was fun to get back to the Resch Center and perform again.  The men won their game too, which was exciting!  This was a tough week for me because we had a game on Tuesday (which meant I was busy from 4:30 to almost 10:00) and three hours of practice on Wednesday- and I had two 3 page papers due Thursday and a test to study for.

Friday the 4th was extremely boring-- Becca and I ended up watching four episodes of "Friends" on DVD!  Saturday night was much more exciting!  Becca, Amy, Julie, Matt, Christian, Aimee, and I went cosmic bowling.  And what makes it even better was that it was FREE because it was a school event.  I didn't bowl very well (I bowled a 100 in the second round!), but oh well -it was fun to get out of the apartment and hang out with a group of friends.

TWO basketball games in a row this week: A men's game on the 9th and a women's game on the 10th.  We performed a really fast pom routine to an Outkast song.  We got to use our brand new poms for the games though, so that was exciting!  The bad thing about these new poms is that they make my hands really sweaty, so when I had to throw a t-shirt into the crowd at the women's game, the shirt stuck to my hand, flew up into the air, and landed 15 feet to the left of me still ON the basketball court- so I had to run over and pick it up and throw it again--it was highly embarressing and a totally "anne moment"--only I could pull off something like that!! It was ok though because then I smiled a lot when we were doing sidelines because I was laughing at myself!

Friday the 11th:  Amy, Becca, Jen, and I went to the budget theatre to see The Brother's Grimm.  Heath Ledger and Matt Damon were the stars, so we mostly went because they were in it!  It was a strange movie- not at all what I had expected.  It was pretty dark and creepy, but it was kind of cool how they incorporated a lot of different fairytales into it. Saturday evening, we all played Cranium.  It was a lot of fun.  Amy and I were partners, and we weren't very good at the charade and acting type things, but we dominated at the creative stuff like drawing and molding! Earlier in the evening, we went to the coffeehouse in the union to check out open-mic night.  There were some very talented musicians.  Kyle played a few songs, so that was the real reason why we went (by the way- we broke up October 1st- but we're still good friends). He did a very nice job.

It snowed on Monday the 14th- enough to stick on the ground.  It was also really icy because it had been raining for most of the day.  It also snowed quite a bit on Thursday night- so everything is pretty much coated in snow now.  Its also very cold outside- yuck--you forget how cold it gets...

On Thursday the 17th, I went to see a Dragapella show at the union.  It was very strange! ...a bit too intense for me!  It was a show with four guys dressed in drag and they sang acapella songs that vaguely fit into this theme of a Republican campaign.  The singing was actually really good, and I enjoyed it when they would ab-lib and go off the script, but for the most part, I didn't really care for it!  Oh well- it was an experience!

On the morning of Saturday the 19th, I got to march in the Green Bay Holiday Parade with my dance team.  We wore santa hats as we danced along the parade route.  It was actually a gorgeous day--I ended up wearing too many layers so I was hot!  It was a fantastic day for a parade though.
I went home to Rapids on the 24th.  The next day, mom, dad, robyn, and I drove (ok- so dad was really the only one who drove!  The rest of us slept!) to Minneapolis.  We had a lovely Thanksgiving meal at Cathy's.  Later on in the evening, all the girls went to see Rent.  It was absolutely fabulous. I highly recommend it--the music is so great.  The next day we did a little shopping, then headed back home to Rapids.  I had to dance at a women's basketball game on Saturday evening, so mom, dad, and I went up a little earlier so that we could do some shopping and have dinner before the game.  The game was at the Resch Center--and mom and dad haven't gotten to see a game there yet, so that was nice to have them there.  Since it was a holiday weekend and the women were playing in a tournament, our team split up between the two games.  So only five of us were there at the game- me, Cindy, Amanda, Alyssa, and Nicci.  It was strange to have so few of us there, but it was also kind of fun.
There was a men's basketball game on Tuesday the 29th.  We played the North Dakota State University Bison.  The game was a lot of fun because our team made quite the come-back--the crowd was getting really excited, and that always makes it a lot more enjoyable.  We were losing in the first half- and then we started catching up.  The game was tied 53-53 with 4 minutes left and then it really got exciting!  The teams went back and forth and then we ended up winning- so it was pretty cool!  Before the game, we took some cute pictures in our little "dressing room."  I also got escorted by Phlash the Phoenix (our school mascot) from the dressing room to where we were practicing before the game!  It was kind of funny--but also kind of creepy--I still don't really like people in costumes!

After I got back from that, Amy, Becca, and I went shopping in Appleton.  We hit the mall--but it was so crazy-- hunting season had just started, so the mall was packed with women starting their holiday shopping.  We met Beth at the food court later on (because she's from Appleton and goes back every weekend to work).  We shopped at a few more stores- my favorite being Gordman's, then we went back to Green Bay.
