| This week on campus, it is Singles Gone Wild Week! So on March 1st, there was an event in the union called Singled Out. James, who lives next door to me, was a contestant in the show, so our floor went to watch him. Unfortunately, he got out after the first question! Oh well, it was still fun to watch. In Introduction to Humanities, we got our exams back from last week. I got a 100% and an "Excellent Exam" on it- so I was very happy about that! On March 2nd, there was a bachelor auction. All the money raised in the bidding was donated to the Family Violence Center. The auction was super cute. It started with the guys coming out on stage in the dark and then flashing colored lights came on and they did the dance routine from Napolean Dynamite. It was so funny- I loved it! After the opening number, each one of the eight guys came out on stage and did some sort of talent (like sing, dance, or do a trick), then at the end, the host would talk about them a little (their age, what their major is), then started the bidding. The bidding was kind of slow since it was poor college students, but about $350 was raised for the violence center. The show was a lot of fun and definitely worth going to. March 3rd, there was a women's basketball game, so I had to dance at it. There were only 6 dance team girls there though! Three of the girls were in the upcoming dance show, so they had dress rehearsals and couldn't be at the game. One girl was on a family vacation, one girl had to go home that day since her mom was in the hospital, and the rest couldn't get out of work (since it was an unscheduled game). So the 6 of us had to rock the floor! We were thinking of not doing the game at all, but our coach thought that it wouldn't look too good for the national champion dance team to be absent! The women won their game, like 96 to 48! On Friday the 4th, I went to my two classes, then went back to the dorms. I was kinda bored and couldn't think of anything to do, so I decided to take a nap. I ended up taking a three hour nap! I woke up a couple times during it, but decided I really didn't want to get up- my bed was much cozier! When I finally got out of bed, I went out in the hallway to find all the third floor people out there playing cards. I had my supper and socialized for a little while. Rebecca came over because her dorm was empty and really boring. We ended up hanging out in Julie's room for most of the evening. Kyle joined us after he was done working. He brought me some fabulous brownie fudge ice cream too, so I loved that! On Saturday, mom, dad, and Robyn came up for a short visit. We went out for lunch to Texas Roadhouse. Kyle and his dad (who was in GB for the day) came with us too. Robyn decided she would like to work at Texas Roadhouse because they play all country music (way too loud if you ask mom) and sometimes the employees go out in the middle of the restaurant and line dance. After lunch, the Waynes went to Danceworks- a dance recital of UWGB students. We were not too impressed with most of the pieces; Dance With Pam puts on a much better show and has a lot more dance talent and skill. After the show, my family had to leave right away because Robyn had to be back to Rapids so she could dance at the boy's basketball game that night. So it was a short visit, but definitely appreciated. Later on in the evening, I went to the evening performance of Danceworks with Rebecca, Julie, Sam, Megan, Justin, James, and Matt. I know I said it wasn't that great, but it's a free dance show, so I had to go again! Sunday was pretty boring. I slept in (yea!) then did several loads of laundry! I worked on this website for quite a while, and that's about all that I accomplished! One day I went to "The Weakest Link" with Rebecca, Beth, and Amy (but not my roommate Amy- a different one!). Anyway, there was a stage with microphones and stands for the contestents. Each one had a spot light on above them that would be turned off when they were voted off. A host read off the questions and the show worked pretty much how it does on television. However in between the rounds, instead of commercials, the host asked the audience a question and there were prizes like gift cards to Applebees and Walmart. At the end of the game, the winner walked away with $320- so that's pretty cool! Spring Break On Thursday the 10th, Mom was supposed to come and pick me up in the afternoon- however- it snowed, so she didn't want to drive all the way to Green Bay. So, I ended up going to dinner with our group and then to the Choral Concert at the Weidner Center. About 6 of us or so went to the concert because James, Megan, and Christian (all from our floor) were all in the show. Kyle's sister, Sarah, was also in the show. It was fun to see people we knew up on the stage- and it was a very educational and cultural experience!! Around 9:30 that evening, Dad came and picked me up, so we got home after midnight. Friday morning, I packed for California then Mom and I drove down to the Madison airport. We were there plenty early, so we did a lot of people watching. Our plane was right on time and we made it to the Denver airport with no problems. We finally got to Oakland, California around 10:00. We had to wait in the baggage claim forever for our luggage- and Mom and I were sweating because we were in turtlenecks and it was 70-some degrees there! Celeste and Grandma met us in the baggage claim, and Grandma told us that Robyn was in the hospital because she got too dehydrated- so that was exciting news! Robyn ended up having quite the weekend too! But anyway, Brett drove us out to the airplane hanger and we go to see their new airplane- very cool. Then we went to our hotel and got settled in. The next day, Mom and I decided we needed some different shoes, because we had thought it was going to be a little cooler than it was. So, we walked over to Walmart and bough some sandals! Afterwards, Celeste and her mom, Santa, came and picked us up for the bridal shower. It was held at one of her friends' homes up on a ridge and it had a spectacular view. The shower was very nice, and I got introduced to a lot of people. After the shower, we went to Brett and Celeste's house. We had dinner there and went for a swim in their hot tub. They have an awesome backyard with a great pool and hot tub. On Sunday, we went and checked out the place where the wedding reception is going to be held and looked at a couple possibilities for where the groom's dinner could be held. In the afternoon, we assembled the wedding invitations. In the evening, we went for another swim in the hot tub and looked at some of Celeste's slides from one of her hiking trips. On Monday, we had to fly back home. We flew with Grandma back to Colorado. Grandpa met us there and we all had lunch (and ice cream) together. Mom and I had a long delay in Denver, plus had time zone changes, so we didn't get back to Madison until late at night. Then, there must have only been one person working at the airport because it took so long to get our luggage- and we were the only plane there! |

I forgot to add this picture to my UPA page...and I don't really want to have to reorganize the whole page- so I'm just gonna put it here! This is Amanda and I with our huge first place trophy. |

| On Wednesday the 16th, Kyle came over to our house. We ate lunch at Culvers (with all the old people!) then drove to Plover so I could drop off a couple of job applications. We went back to my house and watched a movie. Kyle played his guitar for a little bit and we just kinda bummed around. He stayed for dinner and hung out for a while longer, then drove back to Spencer in the evening. On Thursday, I got to drive around Rapids and pick up job applications- fun! Later on, Dad, Mom, Robyn, and I drove down to Madison to watch the Lincoln Boys Basketball team compete in the state tournament. Robyn performed with the dance team at halftime, and part of their routine was even shown on television. The boys won their game, so they played on Friday too. Mom, Dad, and Robyn went Friday night and stayed over Saturday- but I decided driving down to Madison twice was enough for me, so I stayed home by myself. Friday it snowed like crazy and schools got let out early- what a nice Spring Break! Saturday evening, Mom and I went to a movie together. We saw "Be Cool" with John Travolta and Uma Thurman. It was a funny movie- mostly because all sorts of famous people were all in it together- The Rock, Steven Tyler, Andre 3000 from Outkast, Cedric the Entertainer, etc. I rode back to UWGB on Sunday with Rebecca. Somehow, the stuff I took back to campus multiplied and I ended up with a lot more stuff than I remembered bringing home with me! Back at School Tuesday the 22nd, our floor went out to dinner for Julie's birthday. We went to Applebees and had a huge table. Julie, James, Justin, Matt, Megan, Sam, Tiffany, Amy, Nicki, Kara, Dan, Sam, Kyle, and I all went. |

| On the 24th, I watched The O.C. (one of my favorite TV shows) and E.R. with Beth, Rebecca, Maddie, and I can't quite remember who else was all there. Later on that evening, I played the game Apples to Apples with Amy, Beth, Matt, and Matt (our R.A.) in the lounge. We laughed and laughed- it was a lot of fun. Later on, I listened to the campus radio station because Kyle was playing his guitar on it with one of his friends. On Friday, I went home with Rebecca and Amanda. Dad, Mom, Robyn, and I went out for fish at the Hide-a-way. Yum- they have the best fish there. On Saturday, I lounged around and watched television. In the evening, Robyn, Mom, and I frosted Easter cookies- and I got to eat lots of frosting- tough day! On Sunday Mom, Robyn, and I went to Easter Breakfast before church. Kendra, a little 2 year old girl that Robyn and I have babysat for showed Robyn a stuffed easter bunny that she had gotten that morning and said, "Santa gave this to me"- it was so cute- she was a little mixed up with her holidays! She was pretty funny during the children's sermon too. When the leader asked what was in the tomb, she said that there were angels there with really pretty eyes- and dragons! Dorothy Thalacker, aka "the candy lady" held out her hand to me and asked "are you too old to shake my hand?" and I said, "of course not!" and got some smarties from her! After church and an Easter meal, it was almost time for me to go back to campus- and Robyn was coming back with me to waste some of her spring break time. Robyn stayed over in my room until Wednesday the 30th. I think she was a little bored since I had to leave her all alone in my room while I went to class. But we met for lunch and she got to experience lovely college food! One night we went over to Amanda's dorm and danced around in her lounge. Another night we went to Beth's dorm for "Girls Movie Night" and watched "The Notebook." I had heard from other people that it was such a great movie and makes you cry, but I was kinda disappointed because I didn't cry at all! I teared up a little at the end, but that was it! |
