| Predictable Chart: Day 1: Read Where Does the Butterfly Go When It Rains? by May Garelick. Create a chart asking Where Does the Butterfly Go When It Rains? and allow students to answer "The butterfly ____________," said Child. Or after reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle create a chart If I were a very hungry caterpillar... I would eat ___________, said Child. Write each child's sentence on the chart as they dictate. Day 2: Continue dictation. Day 3: Touch read. Day 4: Build a sentence. Day 5: Make a class book. |
| Activities: Life Cycle Flap Book~ Fold a 9x12 sheet of contruction paper in 1/2 (like a hotdog bun) then open the paper and cut slits up to the fold line. Cut a slits every 3 inches to end up with 4 flaps. On the outside of the flap write "egg," "caterpillar," "chrysalis," and "butterfly." Under the egg flap draw a leaf or glue one made from construction paper. On the leaf glue a single piece of pastini. Lift the 2nd flap and create a partically eaten leaf. Glue a piece of spiral pasta to this leaf. Draw a branch under the chrysalis flap. Glue a piece of shell pasta to represent the chrysalis stage. And finally, decorate a piece of bowtie pasta with markers and glue underneath the last flap. more to come.... |
