Eowyn is King Theoden's niece. He has looked after her at Edoras since her parents died. She is a shield maiden of Rohan but is frustrated that she cannot fight for her people as she is a woman. |

When she met Aragorn she immediately fell in love with him, despairing when he was assumed dead. Eowyn is destined to be a great hero of warriors but to be a shield maiden will not be her fate. |
|

Eomer is a brother to Eowyn and has also been looked after by King Theoden. He is a great horseman and leads the Rohirrim. After King Theoden is possessed by Wormtongue, he banishes Eomer from the kingdom of Edoras. However, Eomer is loyal to King Theoden and his people and so patrols Rohan searching for Sarumans spies. At the battle of Helm's Deep Eomer is called back into service by Gandalf the White and plays a very important part in winning the battle. |
