| Bubba Newman (John Ritter) is a washed up minor league baseball player. He meets Megan (Susan Dey), the supervisor for playground activies and tries to convince her that he is worthy enough to get a job. Though skeptacle at first, Megan gives Bubba a job of coaching a group of rowdy kids. The kids do not want Bubba as their new coach and claim that he does not "care about them", but they eventually accept him and work well with his coaching techniques. During the film Bubba and Megan have many disagreements, but eventully forgives him.
