You Should Have Known

You should know by now,
There are some rules you don't break,
Some lines you don't cross,
Some things you just don't do.
You should also know what you did was rude;
It was inconsiderate and offensive;
It was unnecessary to hurt me like that.
There's a time and place for everything,
And never should that be when I'm around.
Don't do that to me, don't make me hate you;
And even worse, don't make me hate her.
Do you know how much that hurt me?
Do you even know how pissed I am?
I'm pretty sure you weren't thinking;
Which head was making the decisions?
And you should have known I'd still be upset;
Couldn't you see me cringe with pain?
Didn't you sense my heart breaking more?
I've tried so hard to be just friends,
But what I saw you do with her,
Erased all that in record time.
Is it just her influence?
Are you wrapped around her finger?
I thought you were a better man than that.
