Sapphire

Clear azure gem cut as stone,
frozen as a winter pond;
solid icy jewel buried in gold,
finger ablaze with Virgo's stone.
Color like a vivid blue sky void of clouds,
smooth like water of a summer day
with no breeze,
a lake still and serene.
Shadow of blue on hand
finger four from left,
second in on the right,
hazy like light hues of cobalt.
Calm as blue blood on a recent trip
to the heart,
free from flaw of oxygen;
spark in the light,
better to show off ice during the day
than to squint at night.
