Lament of a Goddess
I was forever,
When life first began
Surviving the wars of man
Eternal, everlasting the ages.
I was forgotten,
When my people changed faith
Yet some remained at my side
And still I thrive.
I was forbidden,
When Christians came into being
My priests and temples were burned
And those who loved me were persecuted.
I was silenced,
When the last of my people were wiped out
Our ancient history buried
Waiting to be unearthed.
I was executed,
When they sealed me in an earthly tomb
They hoped to keep me hidden
Forever locked away.
I was legendary,
When they discovered our buried history
They stare at my image in wonder
Once lost, I have been found.
