OK, so a friend and I were walking to the 5 and 10 store to buy Christmas gifts for the fam before break, and as we approach a tree in Tappan Square next to the road that runs by all of the little shops, my companion and I stopped dead in our tracks, for there in front of us was the famed albino squirrel of Oberlin. We feared that it might run if we went any closer, but as the squirrel was on a branch clearly out of reach, we were able to approach the base of the tree and watch as it tried to break a nut apart. As a gesture of good-will and fellowship, the albino squirrel offered us a piece of the nut, which fell to the ground. I wish I had thought to bring a camera with me that day so that I might take a decent picture of my little friend, but it was not to be. The squirrel, being finished with his nut, ended our audience with him by hastily departing up the tree and out of sight. I think I fell in love with the albino squirrel on that day. Too bad Steve has been making out with it. I continued down the road in a sort of haze, and would like to suggest that this is the reason my family did not like their Christmas gifts this year. Albino Squirrel, wherever you are, BE FRUITFUL AND MULTIPLY! The albino squirrel has touched so many lives, changed so many hearts...maybe he should get the Nobel prize or something! |
