Hello. And welcome to PETE'S AWAY MESSAGE EXPLANATIONS. Many have wondered aloud what my cryptic AIM away messages actually mean. Do they hold any special signifance or are they the product of the creative whims of a weirdo? In order to truly grasp the intellectual nature of the man they call "Pistol Pete", one must first learn where these messages came from, and why. Let me enlighten you to the fullest effect.
"(I may be paranoid, but not an android)"
Ah, the most popular and infamous away message that I have conceived. It came from the song "Paranoid Android" by Radiohead, the greatest band in the world right now. This away message indicates a neutral mood that I am in. It clearly exemplifies my mysterious nature. What does android mean? An android is a robot that has the appearance of a human.. My special interpretation, however, is that an android is a "follower" or a "wannabe". They do what they are told without thinking for themselves. Now, onto the word paranoid. When I say paranoid, I mean that I am extra aware of the world...extra aware of what is happening around me, who is what, why it's there, why it isn't, etc etc... So by saying that I am paranoid but not an android, it's like me saying "Yo I'm not a wannabe, I'm aware of the world and can think for myself". Interesting, ain't it?
"I never sleep cuz sleep is the cousin of death"
Nas boasted this line in his song "NY State Of Mind". Although Nas hasn't gotten the recognition of 2pac or Notorious BIG, in my opinion he is the greatest lyricist of all time. Greater than Eminem with his "rhyme for rhyme's sake" style...greater than Jay-Z with his pseudo-clever lyrical wit. Nas is just the most sincere and thoughtful street poet to ever hold a mic. When I say I never sleep cuz sleep is the cousin of death, it simply means that I don't stop and won't stop. It is a statement of arrogance and determination. Sure, I put this away message up when I'm sleeping, but it means so much more than that, because I'm not really sleeping...well not in the literal sense.
"Fuck with your soul like ether"
A nasty, searing quote from Nas, I use this away message when I'm feeling angry or aggressive or I just wanna go GRRRRRRRRrr....
"If Yan can cook, so can you"
I'm cooking dinner
"Yo! Bum rush the show!"
This means I'm pumped up about something and feel like having fun.
"What the fuck man. What the fuck."
When things go wrong and I just kinda shrug and say what the fuck man. what the fuck.
"Quick Robin, to the batcave!"
This means I'm at a computer lab. Cuz y'know, Batman figures out problems and plays with cool gadgets at the batcave.
"Acting a fool."
This means I'm drinking or partying or something.
"Out saving the world again"
This means I'm doing something good for someone, or I'm feeling in a good mood and get out of the house to get some fresh air to live it up, or something.
You've got heads on sticks. We've got ventriloquists."
