| Chapter Six Did you guys know what just happened? Josh asked sitting down with us at lunch. Trevor turned around and glared at him. Shut up, Josh. Amber and I looked at each other. What happened? Josh glared at Trevor. Steve Webster has gone missing. The day he drove you guys to school was the last day anyone saw him. They suspect that he was murdered. He turned to Amber. Im sorry Amber. I know you guys were close. Trevor got up and left. Amber got up and went after him. Whats with Trevor? I asked Josh. He turned and nodded his head. That usually meant that he didnt want to talk about it. I got up and sat beside him. He faced me and held my hand. Hes probably mad at me. I should have let him tell Amber. He looked down and leaned forward. I wrapped him an embrace and kissed him softly. Dont worry about it. Hell get over it soon. He leaned back and smiled at me. Thanx. Youre a great girlfriend. He leaned forward and gave me a peck on the lips before getting up. Come with me. I found this great place where we can be alone. I got up and followed him. He led me to behind the stage. The place was pitch black, and the air was kind of stale. We turned on a lamp by the left side of the stage. I sat down on the bleachers. I closed my eyes and waited for Josh to sit down beside me, but he never did. I heard him mutter to himself and I opened my eyes. There on the floor written in red was; Arent you glad you got the last ride? I got up and stood beside Josh. What the hell does that mean? I asked him. He bent down and examined the red ink. He tasted some of it then glanced up at the ceiling. His face froze in horror. I glanced up and saw Steve, strangled to death by the rope that was tightened around his neck. Josh immediately got up and stepped back. Lets get out of here. Now! He turned and left through the rear exit. I glanced up at Steve one last time and left through the same exit. Josh already was heading towards the office. I quickly left and tried to find Amber and Trevor, but unlikely they were nowhere to be found. School quickly ended since the police came and took away his body. Thats the second time I found a body. Amber found out about Steve by fourth period class. She was devastated and left early due to it. Steve was one of her best friends. After school I decided to head over to her house to see if she was all right. When I reached her house I used our special knock, but no one came to the door. I tried just ringing the bell. Her mom finally came and answered the door. Hey Abby. Amber is sleeping right now, and I dont want to wake her. You can come over later if you want. She said. Actually I have a lot of homework to do, just tell her to call me when she gets up. I looked past her and I saw Ambers older sister sitting at the table. Will do. Bye I said bye back and left. Her mom was quite nice about that. I hopped in my jeep and headed home. Knowing my mom shell want to baby me on my finding of Steve. It was bad enough about the first lady. I pulled into my driveway, and headed in to the kitchen. My mom sat at the table and she looked up when I entered. Hey, how are you? she asked. Fine thanx. I opened the fridge and poured out a glass of orange juice. I turned around and my mom was staring at me. What? I asked. She quickly turned away and looked down at the newspaper infront of her. Nothing, I just cant believe you keep finding bodies now. She shock her head, as if she disapproved of something. Mom, it was just two. Not ten or something. Plus I didnt find them on purpose it was by accident. Ill be upstairs doing my homework. I turned and headed up to my room. I didnt wait for her response. I took off my clothes and changed into my PJs. Lying down on my bed, I decided I would do my homework later tonight. Brrrrriiiiiinnnnnngggggggg! I reached over and answered my phone. Hello? I asked. Hey its me. I recognized the voice immediately, Amber. Hey, how are you doing? I asked. I could tell that she just woke up. Her voice was muffled and quite. Listen Abby, I called you because you told me to. Can I talk to you later or something? I dont feel like talking on the phone right now. Sure. Call me later. Bye. She said goodbye and hung up. I put down the phone and went to sleep. Walking down the stairs. I tried not to make a sound because everyone was sleeping right now. It was 2am in the morning, and I just woke up. I havent done any of my homework and I dont plan on doing it. I poured myself a glass of orange juice and headed back upstairs. I took a sip and it seemed to be a lot thicker then usual. I turned on the overhead light on the stairs. The substance in my cup was red and thick. Dropping the cup, I began to scream. My mom and my brother rushed downstairs to see what the problem was. They stopped deep in their tracks when they saw all the blood. What happened? Are you hurt? Let me see? my mom was going frantic. I leaned against the wall and took a deep sigh. Im not hurt mom. Their was blood in the orange juice container. I said. Let me go see. My mom rushed past me and headed into the kitchen. She returned with the orange juice container that containedorange juice! I swear mom, that there was blood in it. If there wasnt, where did I get all this blood from? I asked her. She stared at me and handed me the container. You must have picked up something else in the fridge that contained blood. Go to bed. She turned and left with my brother. I looked down and the puddle of blood increased. I looked around. Nothing. Where is all that blood coming from? I headed down the stairs and entered the pantry closet that was right under the stairs. I opened the door, and turned on the light. There on the floor was Julie Smith. Her mouth was frozen opened in a silent scream. Her arms were tied behind her body. And around her neck was a rope that tightened so much that her veins started popping out. I called for my mom to get downstairs. She reached downstairs and stared in disbelief at the body. Call 911. She went into the room and looked at the body. I turned and called the police. It took about 8 hours for the police to get the body and leave. I spent the night at Ambers house. My mom and brother went to my grandmothers house for the weekend. Amber looked at me. What? I stared back at her. Tell me about the body. Who was it? she sat down on her bed. I glanced around her room. It looked a lot smaller at night. It was Julie Smith. She was strangled. I looked down. Wasnt she your friend? amber asked me. Yeah. I laid down on the mattress and looked at her ceiling. Im tired. Goodnight. I turned on my side and fell a sleep. |
