Twins News
Stephen and Gregory Arends, 17 year old twins from
Melvin, Illinois were involved in a car accident on
January 17th while on their way to school.
With deepest sympathy to their family, Greg passed
away at the scene of the accident.  Stephen was
transported to Champaign/Urbana and later moved
to Chicago.  Stephen may be coming home sometime
in May.  He is still in very serious condition.  Our
thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.

UPDATE ON STEVE ARENDS
Thanks to Bill Hunter (father of twins Jessica and Justin)
for providing this update on Steve by The Pantagraph, January 4, 2004 issue.
"Nearly a year after a traffic accident took the life of his twin brother, Greg, and left Steve in a coma, Steve's medical condition continues to improve and he is planning to head off on a new phase in his life: college.
...The road to recovery has been both a physical and a spiritual one for the young man whose doctors predicted would not walk or talk again. ....Steve's goal is to return to work on the family farm, sell seed and maybe work in a side business - no doubt agriculture-related after earning his degree.  The farm life is in his blood, he said, and he hopes to take over the more-than-100-year-old family farm when his dad retires."

We at the Illinois State Twins Association wish Steve continued progress in his recovery and success in his future endeavors!!!
