Gig Date:
03/03/04

Gig Venue:
Railway Inn, Winchester

A gig offered to us by Inhalate, who headlined the night. Support from Tantric and of course, Illicit.

This was an interesting gi for us as we were one member down. Simon wasn't able to make this gig so we played without him. It turned out well and we had a good night. Thanks to Inhalate for the gig and to Tantric for their support. Thanks to all that came down and enjoyed the night too.

A good gig. Comming on 3rd band in gave us a good position. We played well and gave a good performance.

Unfortunatly we didn't get through to the next round, at the Wedgewood Rooms.

Thanks to those that came along, appreciate it.

We were 2nd band on, following a band I can't remember the name of, but I remember their music, and it was good. Sorry guys, if you read this then tell me your band name, yeah?

Unfortunatly, due to the fact that I am reviewing this gig nearly a month asfter it happened, I can't remember very much about it, apart from Sim snapping his string (D I think) on the 2nd song and having to borrow another guitarists axe, which was problematic. Other then that I havn't got a clue, but I remember enjoying it.

After us was 8th Fret, who I didn't see, sorry. I'm sure they were good. They were in the sound check. But hey, this is our website and were not here to review other bands that we didn't even see, it's too hard!

Well, it was a fun gig. No technical problems...NICE! We enjoyed the gig, and the support acts; 'Fith Season'and 'Inhilate'. Nice work!

Shame about the ligh-weight drunk losers who started ripping up small trees though!.

Hidden Agenda take the stage at 10:30 and people start pouring into the venue at the sound of them. They do a good set and sadly have to leave. Illicit then perform after a small listen to DJ's Sibling Rivalry. Illicit did a below par gig unfortunatly, but still managed to get a response from the crowd. Ash managed to break the Spyder Baby drummer's bass skin, which probably wasn't the best thing to do! We played a half hour set then made way for Spyder Baby who tore the place into microscopic fragments.

We did have fun despite it not sounding so hot. Thanks a lot to everyone who showed up and to the other bands and DJ's.

What a night! With 8th Fret kicking off, the night was already good, Then following 8th Fret was Spyder Baby who were very good indeed. After them Illicit came on to do their thing and it went very well. We were the only band to have moshing, which was nice, and we managed to sell the first copies of our album. I you want a copy check out the news page to find out how to get one.

Thanks a lot to everyone (the small few of you) who turned up, it's a shame more of you couldnt have come. You would have enjoyed it. We sure did!

Hope to see you all at the Rhino gig on the 20th August!

This was a real good gig, despite the usual technical problems that seem to haunt Stu, and which resulted in him leaving the stage before the set was finished!

"That wasn't supposed to happen...Well, I'm not singing the next song, so I'm going! I can only appologise, thanks."

We played with Facelift Wired and Wrapped in Plastic headlined. We all enjoyed oursleves and had a fun time. Thank you to EVERYONE who showed up and thank you to Wrapped in Plastic for organising the event.

Review:
Illicit got the much loved task of being the first band onstage, again. That was a bit of a set back, but we played and sounded 'the best we have ever sounded' according to our friend Gordon Clark, sound engineer for the event. We had a real good time and felt we did a good set.

Unfortunately for us, the votes didn't go our way and we ended up comming third with 8 Fold coming second and Speaking of Losers winning the final.

Thanks to everyone who turned up, we hope you enjoyed the night...we did, despite coming last!

Tom Harrison & band, Illicit, Wrapped In Plastic and Little Red Car provided the nights entertainment at the Railway. A whole range of musical genres were force fed to the audience of roughly 150.

It was the first time that Illicit had played the Railway Inn, this was reflected in Stu's pre-performance nervousness, and his vomit which was a result of nerves! Once we got onstage we were all fine and our nerves flew away. We were pleased with our performance and we had a good night.

Sorry to everyone who had to endure Mark's singing - we tried to keep him from the mic....then he went and got his own!! But don't worry - it won't EVER happen again!

We played in another battle of the bands with 3 other bands, Sounds Of Panic, Under Measure and Government Cover-Up. Not many people turned up and all of the bands were demoralised by the fact that the crowd was very small and therefore kinda in-active. We were on last and did our set without thinking that we could possible win with such a small crowd.

However...the votes got counted and Illicit were the winning band, which puts us through to the final of the Battle of the Bands on May 10th 2003. Thanks to everyone who came and particularly to those who voted Illicit. Thanks to the other bands who played too, especially 'Sounds Of Panic'.

We are proof of two well known sayings:

1. The more equipment you have, the more chance you have of experiencing problems.

2. If something can go wrong...it will!

We started off with good old 'Rasputins Beard' and half way through the song Stuart realised that his guitar was continually cutting out. He changed his guitar for the next song only to experience the same problems again. Mid set he ran off the stage to ask Rat:Daddy if he could use one of their amps, they were cool and let him. The problem was that the levels on the Rat:Daddy amp were very different to those on Stuarts amp. We experienced a lot of very hideous feedback as Gordon Clark (sound engineer at the Lantern Theatre) and Stuart tried to sort the levels out. Things were not going well. Problems with Stuarts effects pedal struck for the second night in a row and continued until the end of the set!

Rat:Daddy went on and later experienced problems too! What a night.

Thanks to everyone who turned up...we hope you enjoyed the show.

Review:
We entered ourselves into our college's Battle of the Bands. We played with 'Wrapped In Plastic', '12 Fine', 'Flat D' and 'Uncle Herb'. We got picked to play first which gave us a major disadvantage from the start. Half way through our set Simon and Mark's amps lost their power, we had to stop the song and restart it once they regained their amps. Stuart had a few problems with his effects pedal in that it kept turning itself off and Marks effects pedal gave him some problems too.

Despite the problems we played our set and enjoyed it a lot, the audience were cool and so were all of the other bands! We didn't do very well when it came to the voting but we never entered in the hope of winning so we didn't mind too much.

Well done to all of the bands who entered, particularly 'Wrapped In Plastic' who won the Battle gracefully. Thanks for coming along and an extra big thank you if you voted for Illicit, your support is appreciated.
