Reflections on my Portfolio

After creating my website and posting my work, I realize that I have grown as a writer over the past semester.  I think I became more creative and I learned how to be more descriptive.  I believe that some of my assignments have been strong while others have been weak.
       Although my writing has improved over the past semester, I think my first piece of writing on the mock trial for Lord of the Flies is my strongest work.  My task was to play Piggy and be a witness.  I believe that I used a great imagination while writing my character description and the other assignments assigned for this project.  I played the role of Piggy extremely accurately. I acted as if I was the voice inside of Piggy's head.  Although my writing is just a straight forward essay, I believe that the people who read my work will be able to clearly picture Piggy physically and mentally.  They will be able to understand Piggy's thoughts and feelings.  This assignment took me a long time to do because I had to think and act like a different person.  I had to pretend I was Piggy and get inside his inner feelings.  I feel I demonstrated his thoughts very well and precisely.
       I think that my weakest piece of writing might have been the Catcher in the Rye's Final Project.  I had made a scrapbook as though I was Holden and I had to make short paragraphs on each picture I chose to put in the book.  I think I presented the project well, but I do not think the writing was my strongest.  This was a very hard and tedious project because I had to again think like Holden.  It is hard to think like someone else, especially Holden Caulfield.  I had to wonder what he would put in his scrapbook and why he would choose these items.  I feel that I chose the right items; however I am not sure I described why he chose them as best as I should have.  Even though I believe this is my weakest piece, I think that someone who looks at this project would still learn several things about Holden and his personality.
       I had tons on fun while creating this website.  I think it is a good opportunity to be able to learn more about creating websites and using the computer.  It also helped me to analyze my assignments because I would think about each one as I posted them.  I believe this is a wonderful experience which I have enjoyed.
