Only those who fight live.
Victor Hygo
Guxija is located in southern part of so called Montenegro, on the boarder of Albania at latitude of 42.5969 , and longitude of 19.9456. Guxijas population is near 8000 inhabitants from whom 68% are indigenous Albanians. Plava and Guxija are very close, and they are divided by small rivers of Vruja, Grlja, Ljuca, Grnchar and other rivers that end their journey to the lake of Plava. Guxija  lies on the  wonderful canyon of Damned Mountains, where one can see an attractive wilderness which captivates  huge rocks overgrown with woods or simply naked rising very high
The canyon is  full of chamois, bears, roe deer and even of lynx, and the canyon is covered with a significant floral carpet. This whole region is an exceptional hunting ground. For centuries, people of Guxija used to cut tries, curve the tries,  hunt, and make their living. The name Guxija derives from an Albanian word Guxim meaning courage. Guxija and Plava are very near. It is believed, the names are derived from a legend of tow mountainous Albanians who got courage to swim or bath themselves into the cold waters of the lake Plava.
For centuries, people of Plava and Guxija used to cut tries, curve the tries,  hunt, and make their living. The climate of this region is cold, and the snow can be seen during the month of August. Even thought, the town and surrounding are very attractive, the fascist government of Yugoslavia and Republic of Montenegro have not invested to make possible for the people of Plava and Guxija to make their living. Therefore, many of people had to leave their homes and go to other places as far as New York, USA, Germany, and other places. The largest community of Plava and Guxija  is located in New York City, USA. It is believed that the towns of Plava and Guxija used to have more than 50 000 inhabitants.
Most of the Albanians in the region of Guxija were of Roman Catholic religion believers.  After the fight for the liberation of Albania from Ottoman Turkey, many people of Plava died for the freedom of Albania. Unfortunately, the Russian Terrorists with their Russian Gypsies known as Serbs used the situations and committed atrocities over the civilian Albanian population. The force of 300 000 Russian Terrorist, tried to ethnically clean the area. Many Albanians of Roman Catholic Religion were forced to convert themselves to the Christian orthodox. Those one who resisted were massacred, and the Russian terrorists in order to make sure that the Albanian Catholic were converted to Orthodox Christians were mutilated
The religion was accepted peacefully. According to professor Rizah Gruda the first Albanian Catholic to convert to Islam was Dada Shal, who later named himself as Omer Salja and got the title Aga by the Turkish governing body. Because of his generosity and respect to Turkish government, Omer Aga was named as a governor of this region in 1461 to 1590. Omer Aga was able to send his children to Istanbul for high Education. Some of the grand nephews  remained in Turkey and assisted the Sultan in many areas. For first time, the town of Guxija was recorded in Ottoman documents in 1461, the year when Omer Aga was converted to Islam. Later one, many other Albanians converted themselves to Islam. Some of them converted even to Bektashi sects. The family still present in this region of the Bektashi sects are Mulichi i Kobilichi. Both names are derived from Albanian words, Mula and  ich meaning not running at all, and Kobil ich meaning buster at all. Many of those people were smart enough to get education. One of the most know was Ejup Bekteshi educated in Germany and later became a minister of defense in 1929 to 1933.  In addition, professor Gruda names the families who changed their languages from Albanian to Slavic one, and those are the family of Balichi, Musichi, Canovichi, Sujkovichi, Kurtagichi, Sarkinovichi, Klikovishi, Bajrovichi, Bichici, Lalichichi, Mrkuljichi, Sabocichi, Redxhichi, Rexhematovichi Radoncici,  Koljenovici, Nekovici, Miljevici, Hadzialjevici, Gacevici, Damjanovici, Djurkovici, Djukanovici, Deljani, Ljucevici, Pjetrovlci, Feratovici, and Djesevici, but still remained Muslims.  The Albanians Catholics whose fingers were mutilated or cut off that converted themselves to the Serbians are of those families Nemanjici, Balsici, Mrnjacevici, Crnojevici, Bjelopavlovici, Karadjordjevici, Kastratovici, and Vasojevici. those families are still present in Plava and Guxija region.
