Final Breath
She lay on the royal blue rug of her small apartment floor as the blood puddle underneath her expanded and deepened into the ground. She sat on the floor while a million memories hit her at the same time. Her mind was clouded as she was struck by different ideals of relief and regret. She kept on thinking on what she had just done, yet somehow she found comfort in her actions. She knew she would no longer feel or suffer, in a few moments she wouldn’t be alive. Everything around her started to spin as a huge migraine hit her without warning. Her hands were now on her head as she insanely screamed and rocked her body back and forth out of pain and despair. Her body was weakened by each second that passed as she lost more blood and the little hope of life she had clutched in her heart for so long.
She looked down upon her arm and lowered her index and middle fingers onto her wrist. She then felt the warm blood stick onto her fingers. When she lifted her hand she saw as the blood from her other hand stirred with the one on this hand. She then had a flashback of those previous nights. She had drowned her sorrow in what may be dozens of wine glasses that beheld that exact color. Each night she passed out in order to forget the wrong turns her life had taken. She found release in her actions, she no longer cared if she would self destruct or not. She no longer cared about anything or anyone, not even herself.
She then fell into a trance as her mind relived the moments of that night. She had cried all day, and her eyes were bloodshot from the deprivation of sleep. She tried to shoot up on anything she found, but nothing made her escape the way she felt. She was drowned in the despair of loneliness and sorrow. Somehow her reality was still there, and this time it was to stay. Somehow there was nothing that could drive her away from this, at least tonight. She then took a kitchen knife and without a moment to hesitate acted with it upon herself. She then slit and mutilated her veins in a way that blood easily exited her body. She then just stayed there on the floor crying and thinking frantically, she knew this was a point of no return and she knew she had become helpless.
Things started to fade as her reality got lost within the occurrence of time. Every second it became harder for her to breathe and she panted heavily. She then took her last breath as her face splattered on the puddle of blood below her.
