BLACK RAINBOW

I glance at the horizon

I catch a glimpse of the unknown

And what is it exactly what I see?

I see far beyond the valley,

I see deeper within.

I see in your soul.

I see a small child there,

Just sitting, hidden from the rest of the world.

A very young beautiful girl,

With these big blond curls.

She has her head held up high,

She’s staring at something that caught her eye,

But what is this?

Filled with curiosity, I glance at the sky.

I see what I least expected,

I see the unexplained,

I see a black rainbow,

Just dancing in the sky.

One that shines,

Not so bright.

One that laughs,

At fear of life.

I see as his light,

Is reflected on the young girl.

As her mood changes,

As the sky darkens.

I look down in pity,

And then up again,

The rainbow is expanding,

Onto the whole sky.

I wished I could have helped her,

But it was too late,

And I was too weak.

For that day me and the young girl in curls

Both fell flat on the floor,

Reflecting black upon others,

and upon ourselves.
