Show Jumping

This is a description of what your horse will learn in Show Jumping training.

  • Ground Level
The first step in the level is to get your horse to show jumping tack and poles. He/She will be lunged with a jumping saddle and a bridle around a round pen. On the second day he/she will be in round pen with saddle and bridle and poles where she/he will learn to step over the poles.

  • Beginning Level
Your horse will be ridden at a walk and trot over poles. Then he/she will also do this at a canter. Your horse will also work on tight turns and bending.

  • Intermediate Level
This consists mostly of learning how to do sharper turns and bend around corners to prepare for jumps. Your horse will also work on cross-rails, cavelettis and jumps under 2'3".

  • Advanced Level
In this your horse will be taken out one trails and in the race track to build speed and stamina. Your horse will be slowly brought up into a fast pace that he/she will be able to run at for a long time and that is hard to beat. Then he/she will learn to jump up to 4'0".

  • Championship Level
This level is when you horse will jump his/her maxium height, which for most show jumpers is about 6'0"-7'0". For a week he will be worked on difficult and some easy courses as fast as possible and for the last day he will get a calm relaxing massage.
