As a journalist, I’m sick of hearing owners whining about the new leagues.
I personally think that Jeff Sacks has been doing a hell of a job (after he stopped cheating) reconstructing the league and keeping the owners informed on changes, etc. Not to mention the guy created this league. I’ve heard owners whine about the league every day. And when you think about it, does it make sense?
No, of course it doesn’t make sense. The fairest way to divide teams is to rank them and divide them the same way a snake-draft would go (i.e. West: 1, 6, 7, 12, 13). But how the hell do you rank teams, especially expansion teams? We could call it SHIFT and then it would be the same as the BCS where players would take out a letter to make it more appropriate.
And does anyone except for me realize that there is an Amateur Draft every year.
"No way Adam! Every year?"
Yeah there is. Which means that good young, players get drafted every year. Given, Sacks is the only one who can see players’ potential ratings. Hehe.
Also people retire. Does anyone (except Lacassa) honestly think that the Chicago Cubs would have won the East had Ed Alexander not been sitting on his fat butt eating sunflower seeds and Buona Beef italian sausages. No! Players retire. In three years for all anyone knows Jim Tenzillo could be wearing a World Series ring. Ok, bad example.
But you catch my drift. I think the team suffering the worst in the new divisions is the Wolverines. Sacks is on the brink of bringing back the glory days from ’01 and with the new division he’s going to have to beat the Huskers and the White Sox. Now you may laugh but the Sox beat up on lefties whenever they play them (37-24 in 2002 season), three lefty Wolverines pitchers could see a little competition Slayton, Bayless, and Mattick are great pitchers but how are they going to fare against the Sox’s powerful righty lineup.
This year is going to be the most exciting season ever so it’s well worth the division shuffling that has now been solidified. I know that the competition is going to be great this year so you can expect to see me taking notes at as many ILB games as I can get to.
Buy me some peanuts and cracker jacks, I don’t care if I ever go back.
