IKUKO    MIKLOWSKI
Ikuko was born in Sapporo, Japan and came to the United States in 1995. She began to study pottery making in 1998 and quickly developed an award-winning signature style. Ikuko characterizes her work in stoneware and porcelain as "diminutive." Ikuko favors soft, understated glazing - influenced by the traditional wood-fired pottery of Japan. She enjoys mixing glazes to achieve unique blends of color and pattern. All of Ikuko's work speaks with one voice yet each individual pot expresses something unique. Ikuko has traveled extensively in Japan visiting the ancient kiln sites of Imbe, Echizen, Shigaraki, and Mashiko among others. Ikuko received art training in the United States at Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland, Ohio.
