Chapter
19
“You
are mad!” I grinned at him.
“What’s
so mad about wanting to go for a picnic with my beautiful girlfriend?” Simon
replied, taking me by the hand and linking his fingers in-between mine.
“We
are at school you great hoof, people don’t go for romantic picnics at school.”
“Well
they should,” he argued, “I mean there’s grass, and there’s food, so why not?”
I
smiled at him.
Our
relationship had never been better. We
had been together a few months now and with spring fast approaching I had never
felt happier. This was my favourite
time of year and sharing it with someone else was making me feel wonderful.
“You’re
lovely you know that,” I said to him as we found a remote spot on the playing
field and sat down on the grass.
That
was the closest I ever came to telling him I loved him. I would always be saying things like that to
him, skirting round the issue, still not able to say the words. Sometimes I was sure that I wanted to, deep
down inside I was sure that I did love him, it just never seemed to come out of
my mouth. Something that still puzzled
me.
I
watched him as he set out the packed lunch he had prepared for us. There weren’t many year 11 boys who would
publicly have a picnic in the middle of the school field. But then he wasn’t like most other blokes I
knew, he was so different and special.
I was clinging on to this one – he was for keeps.
I
began to munch into my cheese sandwich, happily watching a butterfly sitting on
a daisy nearby.
“This
is much better than what we normally do at lunchtimes,” I said cheerily.
“You
mean, you don’t enjoy revising in the library?” he asked with mock horror.
I
turned my nose up, “not really.”
“Am
sure it will all be worth it.”
He
opened a container of grapes, thoughtfully picking a few up and chucking them
over at me.
“What
was that for?”
“Just
felt like it,” he shrugged.
“Were
you trying to get them in my mouth?”
“No,”
he moved closer to me, “if I’d wanted to get them in your mouth I would have
just done this.”
He
carefully popped a grape into my mouth and I giggled, nearly choking it out in
the process.
“Now
I feel really important,” I joked, “Give us another.”
He
put another one in my mouth but this time I clamped my lips round his finger
before he had a chance to remove it and sucked on it gently.
“I
like that,” he smiled at me, “its sexy.”
I
let it go and gave him my best seductive smile, I loved being able to turn him
on.
He
gave me another grape and I did the same again, this time making sure that my
eyes were looking straight at his.
“Kimberly?”
he asked when I had let go of his finger.
“Yep?”
I asked.
“You
know that thing we’ve been talking about for a while now?”
“And
what thing will that be?” I asked innocently.
“The
sex thing.”
”Ahh, that thing,” I replied with a little smile.
“Any
thoughts?”
“Now
you come to mention it,” I said, “I have been thinking about it.”
“And?”
“March,”
I confirmed.
“Random!”
he joked, “any particular date, seeing as we are already in March.”
“My
birthday,” I confirmed, “I want to stay over for my 16th birthday.”
“Are
you sure?”
“Positive.”
“I
love you,” he said suddenly, beaming at me and pulling me into a tight hug.
“You’re
just saying that to get me into bed,” I joked.
“Yep,”
he replied, “am going to dump you straight after.”
We
both laughed and I leant back against him, wanting to enjoy his company for the
last few minutes before the bell rang for afternoon lessons. I closed my eyes as he began to play with my
hair.
“That’s
good,” I breathed, loving the tickling sensation on my head.
He
continued, leaning over and placed another gentle kiss on my lips.
“So
birthday plans,” he said.
“Mmmmmmm,”
I replied, eyes still tight shut.
“What
did you want to do?”
“Do
I have to think now?” I asked, not wanting to fill my brain with thoughts when
I was feeling so wonderfully relaxed.
“It’s
next week so it could be a good idea.”
“Pub,”
I murmured, “lets just go to the pub for dinner and back to yours.”
“That’s
all you want?”
“Sounds
perfect to me,” I replied.
And
it did. Simple but wonderful, chilling
out with my boyfriend was all that I wanted.
It was going to be perfect, I was going to be 16 and finally a woman at
last.
