*****Chapter 3*****
Surprises
Mark
I looked up and saw her
watching me. Now we were in the light I could see her eyes were bright blue. I
smiled at her and she rewarded me with a small smile. Then to my surprise she
leaned forward and gently kissed me on the cheek. I smelt the faint scent of
the perfume she was wearing.
"Thankyou,"
she said as she sat back down.
"You’re
welcome," I replied mesmerised by this girl in front of me.
In the dark I could see
she was beautiful but in the cafe the light showed me she was gorgeous. She
still had an angry red mark on her cheek where she had been hit and I felt a
surge of anger, what kind of animal hit a young woman. Her hair was tied up in
a bun but with the struggle bits of blonde hair had fallen down to frame her face.
She was beautiful.
I watched as she took a
sip of tea but it was obviously still too hot as she winced in pain.
"You don’t need to
rush, we’ve got all the time you want," I said. "And that tea needs
something else."
"What?"
I spooned a few spoonfuls
of sugar into her tea, "Lots of sugar to help with the shock."
We got talking about her
and I found out she was 20 and had just moved to
"So why are you in
I looked at her closely to
see if she was joking but she looked at me curiously with those blue eyes.
"Okay I’m not saying
this vainly but don’t you know who I am?" I asked.
She looked at me
quizzically. "No should I?"
"Well I’m Mark Read
and I’m part of the pop band a1," I said.
"a1
rings a bell actually I think my little sister likes you," Jo said looking
at me. "So are you really famous then?"
I got a bit embarrassed,
"Well yeah," I admitted.
"And how many of you
are there in a1 again?"
"Four,
me, Ben, Christian and Paul."
*****Chapter 4*****
Sweet Guy
Jo
God I was kicking myself.
Of course I recognised him once he had told me his full name and the band he
was in. My little sister is obsessed with a1 and she has posters covering every
square inch of her bedroom.
I groaned quietly to
myself. Why hadn’t I realised before and then I might have stopped myself
falling for him. I didn’t stand a chance, he was really gorgeous and I didn’t
stand a chance with a famous pop star. Mark could probably have just about
anyone he wanted.
"Now you’re feeling a
bit better, do you want to go to the police?" Mark said. "I’ll come
with you to hold your hand."
"No I don’t want to
go. I didn’t really see what he looked like either so there’s not much chance
of the police catching him," I said shuddering at the thought of my
attacker.
"Are you sure?"
"Yep
really sure."
"So where abouts do you live then?" Mark asked.
"Down
Kensington," I replied.
"Right well I’ll walk
home with you when we’ve finished," he offered sweetly.
"That’s really sweet, won’t you get recognised on the Underground
though?" I asked.
"Yeah but I’ll brave
it," he said.
I was just reaching for my
cup of tea when I remembered something awful. I remembered that Beth wasn’t
home and I’d have to stay there all by myself. My hands started to shake quite
violently and Mark noticed straight away.
"Jo what’s the
matter?" he asked covering my hands with his own.
"My flat mate has
gone away to see her mum," I said. "I don’t want to be alone tonight,
I’m frightened," I admitted as tears began to slide down my cheeks.
"Ah don’t cry. You
can come and stay with me tonight. We’re staying in a hotel just round the
corner. You can have my bed and I’ll have the sofa," Mark offered looking
at me questioningly.
I couldn’t believe this
incredibly caring guy in front of me. He really was my knight in shining
armour. I had only known him for an hour but I knew I could trust this person
opposite me and I didn’t want to spend the night alone. I nodded slowly.
"You know you’re safe
now," Mark said. "I won’t let anybody hurt you."
I was touched by his
comment and I could almost forget he was a famous pop star. "It’s ok I
know you won’t let anyone hurt me."
"So how are you
feeling?" Mark asked me seriously. "Really?
Don’t fob me off with a load of crap about being fine."
"Well my head hurts
and my lip is throbbing abit," I said touching
the back of my head gingerly. I was developing quite a large lump.
"Do you want to go
back to the hotel now?" Mark asked. "I’ll be able to find you some paracetemol."
I smiled at him,
"Yeah that would be nice."
