*****Chapter 2*****

Knight In Shining Armour

Mark

I had been walking along taking a night-time stroll. Night was one of the few times I could go out normally and not get recognised. Now don’t get me wrong, I love the fans coming up to me and talking to me but sometimes I just want some private time to myself.

I had been humming a new melody to myself when I heard the terrified scream. It sounded like it had come form the end of the street so I hurried along looking for the source of the scream. I couldn’t work out where it had come from until I noticed the dark side street. I could faintly see a man and a young woman and I saw them just as he dealt her a hard slap.

I couldn’t believe what I was seeing, I was so angry I ran down the alley and grabbed the attacker’s jacket. I threw him against the other side of the alley. I must say I am never normally a violent person but he had got me so angry beating up a poor young woman and I punched him. It must have been strong coz he staggered to the left.

"Get out of here you scum!" I growled and pushed him out of the alley.

I turned around and found the young woman sitting on the floor hiding her head.

I helped her up and she looked so vulnerable I just wanted to protect her from everything. I hugged her as she began to cry softly and held her tighter as she began to sob. I whispered soothing words and stroked her hair gently.

Eventually she stopped crying and looked up at me with big eyes. Even in the dark I could see she was beautiful. I wiped some stray tears off her cheek gently with my thumb and smiled at her.

Jo

I looked up at my knight in shining armour. He was gorgeous was all I could think until I remembered why he was holding me.

"Thankyou so much," I said. "I don’t know what he’d have done if you hadn’t turned up." I could feel my eyes filling up with tears again at the thought.

"Come on don’t cry," he said hugging me again. "I’m here now so you’re safe."

"I know," I mumbled from his shirt.

"My name’s Mark by the way. What’s your name?" Mark asked me.

"Jo," I replied.

"Well Jo I think I should take you for a drink," Mark said releasing me from the hug.

"Oh no I don’t drink," I said hurriedly.

Mark laughed quietly; "No I mean a cup of tea."

"Oh right, then let’s go," I said smiling at him.

My legs were still shaking from the attack and my knees hurt from where I’d been pushed over so Mark put his arm round my waist to support me as we walked along.

The first cafe we came to was five minutes walk away. We’d been talking on the way, well Mark had been talking and I’d listening. My head still was throbbing slightly form where it had been hit against the wall. When we came into the cafe I was shocked as I saw myself in the mirror. My hair was all coming out of the neat bun it had been in for work. The bottom of my cheek was an angry red and I had blood smeared down my chin from a small cut on my lip. My shirt and skirt were ok but then I had two massive holes in the knees of my tights. One knee had a deep graze that was bleeding.

"I look like I’ve been in the wars," I said as we sat down as I absently tried to rub the blood off my chin.

"Well you have," Mark said seriously, looking at me with gorgeous green eyes. "Wait there a minute I’ll be right back."

While he was gone I ordered two teas and they were on the table just as Mark came back.

"Right lean across the table," he said waving a damp tissue at me.

He leant across the table aswell so our faces were only centimetres apart. He gently dabbed my chin but as he caught my lip I winced in pain.

"I’m sorry," Mark said.

I shook my head, "Carry on."

His face was only centimetres away and he was concentrating on my chin so I sat watching him. He was so handsome, the light meant I could see him clearly and he was even more gorgeous than I had thought. He was also brave for coming to my rescue and he was being very kind and caring. I carried on watching as he made sure he didn’t touch my sore lip again.

As he finished he looked up at me and caught me looking at him. I had the urge to kiss him.
