Workshop sessions will offer oportunities for interactive comparative analysis of four prototype national minorities, and for drafting resolutions in relation to the important issues confronting the international community in relation to ethnic conflict.

Each workshop will include a Moderator and a Rapporteur (TBA).

Workshop 1.
Peoples seeking political independence primarily as the only feasible way to liberate themselves and exercise their human rights, either in response to UN resolutions or otherwise.  Prototype:  Kashmiris

Workshop 2.
Non-territorial minorities seeking some form of politico-legal structural mechanism through which to  address their affairs with a view to promoting their equal status development within the multinational state.  Prototype:  African Americans

Workshop 3.
Indigenous peoples or minorities seeking the preservation, development and recognition of their cultural rights as pre-existing nations or peoples.  Prototype:  Native Americans

Workshop 4.
Minorities or peoples engaged in demands for self-determination where special rights and legal protections have failed to remove barriers to economic equal status due to entrenched cultural behaviors and beliefs.  Prototype: Dalits
