UN WORKING GROUP ON MINORITIES PLAYS NO ROLE
IN INTL CONFERENCE
ON THE RIGHT TO SELF-DETERMINATION
& THE UNITED NATIONS

The  IHRAAM/ICHR Conference Operations Manager today clarified that the UN Working Group on Minorities has no connection in any way with the forthcoming First International Conference on the Right to Self-Determination & the United Nations:  From Minority Rights to Political Independence, to be held at the Forum Park Hotel, Geneva, on August 11-13th, 2000.

The possibility of misunderstanding arose due to mention in a press release issued earlier this month that the IHRAAM/ICHR Conference was “responding to the UN Working Group on Minorities’ declared interest in encouraging the holding of regional seminars on minority and group rights.”

The UN Working Group neither sponsors, partners, nor is directly involved in any way with this Conference.  Conference organizers regret any confusion to the contrary which may have arisen.
