| 3/19 Not much new. Added some stuff ... 3/13 St Patrick's Day is approaching , hope everyone has something green in their closets , to avoid being pinched. I always hated that part of St. Pat's day, What is the point of pinching someone for not being so fashionabley inclined?... Why do we celebrate This holiday? St Patrick"traveled throughout Ireland, establishing monasteries across the country. He also set up schools and churches which would aid him in his conversion of the Irish country to Christianity. His mission in Ireland lasted for thirty years. After that time, Patrick retired to County Down. He died on March 17 in AD 461. That day has been commemorated as St. Patrick's Day ever since. Much Irish folklore surrounds St. Patrick's Day. Not much of it is actually substantiated. Some of this lore includes the belief that Patrick raised people from the dead. He also is said to have given a sermon from a hilltop that drove all the snakes from Ireland. Of course, no snakes were ever native to Ireland, and some people think this is a metaphor for the conversion of the pagans. Though originally a Catholic holy day, St. Patrick's Day has evolved into more of a secular holiday. One traditional icon of the day is the shamrock. And this stems from a more bona fide Irish tale that tells how Patrick used the three-leafed shamrock to explain the Trinity. He used it in his sermons to represent how the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit could all exist as separate elements of the same entity. His followers adopted the custom of wearing a shamrock on his feast day. The St. Patrick's Day custom came to America in 1737. That was the first year St. Patrick's Day was publicly celebrated in this country, in Boston." 1/13 Today has been a "what are you going to do with your life" type day. Yeah, I'm sure we all know how that goes , get out of highschool and go on with life , kind of makes me want to be in HS all over again... Everyone has their own idea as to what YOU should do with YOUR life. And they all warned us about peer pressure growing up... I want to be a nurse to help others but there are a million other things I want to be too , Just like when I was little I wanted to be a ballerina , do you think I want to be a ballerina today? No. Not today , not tomorrow , not next week. I am going to study nursing , but will it be what I really wanted in life? will i have time to change my mind and do what i dream of doing? who knows . I guess I'll just have to live for today and let tomorrow take it's course. When are you going to be what you want to be? When I'm not just someone's 17 year old daughter. 12/1. i think i need to start detaching myself from a lot of things. if i think i see something, i'm not sure i can trust that it's really there anymore. 11/26. Why does time go by so quickly the times you dont want it to? You left this morning. You're always leaving now. I really can't handle this anymore, it's too much. Why is this so hard for me? Why cant I handle it like I should be able to? Why is this so difficult for me. 11/24. how do you do that, he said. do what, she asked. look at me like youve never seen me before. things change. situations change. people change. everything changes. no matter what you do to prevent it, change is inevitable, wether welcomed or not. its amazing how much something can change in such a short time. when i saw you again those feelings came back suddenly and it felt like i had been punched in the stomach. i dont want to remember you, remember us, what it was like, knowing in a matter of days it will be gone again. before i get a chance to scream and contemplate why the hell youre in my life and how much easier it would be if you just WENT AWAY, i remember that sometimes you just have to have faith and know that this change, as uncomfortable as it may seem, has a purpose and is not just occuring to inconvenience our lives. |
