~ Why was it formed? ~

The Islamic Girls/Women's Group Inc was formed to meet the challenges confronting Australia Muslim Women growing up in a multicultural environment.

~ What are its aims and objectives? ~

Information, education, active participation in various spheres of lives, self-assertiveness, self-esteem, improving and projecting the image of Australian Muslim Women as progressive, well educated and embracing the ideals of Australian multiculturalism

and embodiment of the best of the Eastern and the Western values within the Islamic framework and Australian polity.

~ How does it plan to achieve its objectives? ~

Through activities such as sporting, recreational, seminars, public symposiums, lectures, conferences, and community programmes like camps, excursions and picnics.

~ Who is representing the IGWG currently?~

Most of the membership is drawn from the first and second generation Muslim migrants from World over.

Then, now is the time to JOIN , especially now when the image of the Women in Islam across the world has and continues to receive a constant battering. We are presented as being oppressed and a misfit who are ill equipped to integrate into Western Society. The need for women to transform themselves and to connect with mainstream society by sharing our experiences while still maintaining our Islamic beliefs is important in changing our current perceptions and preparing generations yet to come.

•  Running education campaigns

•  Working against stereotypes

•  Working with the diverse range of Australian communities.

 

The above are just a few of the many projects that the IGWG is involved with and working to implement. They can only run successfully with YOUR HELP.
